I had a similar situation happen to me a few weeks ago. I was under a lot of stress and my battery died and I forgot to bring my spare one. So I lit up a cig and instantly thought "How the heck did I smoke these things for 10+ years? They are disgusting!" Now I can't even be around a person when they are smoking because it makes me want to gag! lol

If you vape for a while and come back, you start tasting weird tastes in the cigarette you didn't taste before, or got immune to. It really is quite sickening, but sometimes it's what somebody needs to make sure they made the right choice.

I had only vaped for 3 days and when I tried a cig it hit my gag reflex instantly. It is truly awful and I had smoked for over 20 years. Once you start looking for flavor in ecigs you taste the flavor of death in the analogs, and I don't know why anyone would ever go back.

The last cigarette I smoked (a month ago yesterday) nearly killed me. I hadn't had one in a week at that point and started to throw away the last one in a pack that had been sitting on the kitchen counter. But, I thought, "Let's see how bad it is now." It was like the first time I snuck a smoke when I was about 8 years old - one of my grandmothers filterless Camels. I gagged and hacked after each draw. After three I was done. I wish I had taken that approach 40 years ago and never smoked another one.
