DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!! I got my first e-cig from our mall and paid $150 for a kit (kr808) and then found this forum and learned OH so much more about e-cigs, so you are at the right place......take that one you got back and tell them to shove it where the sun don't shine and order from our suppliers, I like Liberty Flights for the price and they are really good people. juice try Vermillion river KY blends, they are great!

I just started using e-cigs within the last two months and I must say my first experience was similar to yours. I got a disposable e-cig from the corner store and I don't know if it was too old or what but I took one pull and got a mouth full of terrible tasting numbness. I didn't even think about trying again until a few weeks later when I saw an Ego starter kit for sale at a local smoke shop on sale and went from there.

The it seems like the two most important things are having something that can be reliable all day and having a flavor or a few flavors that you won't get tired of and that are also fulfilling. Make sure you have two batteries so if one dies use can use the other while charging. I like the ego kits because the batteries last a really long time. As far as flavors go I would recommend alien visions. They have a tobacco flavor called Bobas Bounty that is FANTASTIC and I would also recommend the root beer and strawberry they have. Another "e-juice" vendor that people seem to like is Deejstuff. I have a bottle of his peppermint flavor that has really cool(cold feeling) but not overpowering flavor if you like the menthol thing

The root beer sounds amazing. I think I am going to order the unit that pumasforpets suggested earlier as it looks like a great unit with a long battery life.

A question though do I mix the juices with a nicotine juice because I need nicotine in my e-cig or I'll go nuts lol. Is there a video tutorial on mixing?

Welcome to the forum and congrats on not giving up! As for your question, unless you order them without nicotine, most liquid vendors let you choose the level of nicotine you'd like in your liquid. They generally will range from 6mg to 36mg. I was a 2 1/2PAD smoker and I use 18mg, but everyone is different. Try a couple different strengths. For strong cravings, I keep some 24mg around and I keep some 8mg around for vaping at night as too high of nicotine makes it hard to get to sleep sometimes.

As was stated by other posters, buy small bottles to experiment with. It sucks to get stuck with a 30ml bottle of a juice that you don't like. Also, if you try a juice and it doesn't suit you right away, let it sit for 4-6weeks and revisit it. Not only are your tastebuds damaged from smoking and will change over time, but a lot of vendors make their juice to order and it takes some time for it to age properly to really bring out the flavors.

Another tip is to drink a LOT of water. PG and VG will dehydrate you. You may notice a dry or scratchy throat when you start. Water will definitely help with that as well as flush the toxins from smoking out of your system more quickly.

You will probably cough a lot at first as well. Your lungs have a lot build up from smoking to clear out, but it usually subsides after a couple weeks.

Always feel free to voice questions or concerns. This forum is a great resource and no question here is dumb.

This is what veterans fear from the cig-a-like vaporizers...that they will turn off potential converts because they suck.

To answer your question...NO! They should absolutely not taste or perform terribly, but some unfortunately do and people end up spending way too much money on complete crap.

I want to save you a bunch of time, money and headache. I'm going to recommend something that is alot bigger than a cigarette. If you absolutely can not see yourself using something the size of a sharpie marker...please ignore my suggestion and wait for a smaller recommendation.

650mah Riva Mega Dual Coil Kit

This kit will perform very well (I took 3 of these on a ski trip last week for friends to use and they all bought them from me at the end of the trip) and the juice from sweet-vapes is downright delicious in my opinion!

Quick question on this. Do I just refill the cartomizer with the eliquid when it runs out? or do you have to throw the cartomizer out? what else would I need to complete the set, just e-liquid? does the nicotine come in the e liquid or do I buy the nicotine and flavors separate? lol Such a noob

Take something like a tweezers or an unbent paper clip and put it into the center hole of the plastic cap on the top. Pull off the plastic cap and drip juice onto the polyfill but not down the center hole. Depending on how dry your carto is it should take 5 drops or more. When it looks kinda slushy, stop. Wipe the bottom end off with a tissue, screw it back onto the battery and vape. There are you tube vids that demonstrate.

Welcome!! I started vaping after a very unsuccessful bid with Chantix. (I think it's the same as Champix, you must be in the UK)

You can refill. They will eventually die though. They do not come with juice and you can buy some from sweet-vapes with your kit purchase. I think I already posted some info in this thread about what I personally use in terms of flavoring, pg/vg and nic. Sorry, a little rushed at the moment.

Not with the Mega DCCs in the kit I suggested :) You simply pull the rubber mouthpiece off by hand and drip onto the fill material directly from the bottle. VERY easy to use. They hold exactly 78 drops without any spillage when brand new and I top off daily with about 20-25 drops until it runs dry then refill with 50. The carto will have likely died by the time you go dry again  Your mileage may vary heh since I'm a flavor hopper and have 5 different cartos with varied flavors on me all the time.

To answer this part of your question: Yes, the nicotine comes in the e-liquid. When you order the liquid, it will either tell you how much nic it contains, or you can specify a strength. Try a couple different strengths. A 1 pack/day smoker might be o.k. with 12mg or 18mg. A 2 pack, 18-24mg. 3 pack 24-36. I smoked 3 packs and 24mg was good.

Hey..

I'm a newbie too. I was all ready to buy one of the kits from the dude at the mall, or one of the internet vendors like greensmoke or V2.......but then discovered this forum, which saved me a lot of grief and a lot of money. After a bunch of reading over several days...I ordered the KGO kit from Dark City Vapors.

SLB KGO Starter Kit

I am very happy with the product (and the support from the vendor). I ordered a bunch of samples of ejuice to experiment with. I smoked 1+ pack a day of lights....and have found the 18 mg nicotine level seems just right for me right now. I am 2 days without analogs (real cigs) now, and feeling no pain or distress over it. I have smoked for 40 years, and this is the first time I'm really feeling I can quit successfully. I've shown my KGO to a friend, who has already ordered, and will be showing it to another couple of friends this week. I'm so happy I found this forum before I wasted a bunch of money on low quality products that would just frustrate me!!

Another really nice feature.....

My roommate has COPD and Asthma (has never smoked), and smoking anywhere near causes real distress and potential asthma attack. Since I live in Michigan.....this means freezing your .... off all winter since you can't smoke in the house. With my new habit....I can vape in the house...no irritation or response from the roommate other than "that smells nice".
