I picked up a couple of the ZEN clone genesis atomizers in the classifieds.
Price: about $10 each
Initial impressions: looks OK. Top cap and tip are a single piece. No swapping tips on this one.
The tip tapers down to a tight-draw hole inside a rather compact chamber which is pretty nice
The guts of this thing are obviously plated with areas of what appears to be copper or brass showing through. The positive post has 3 plated thumb screws with a little flat-head screw on top. The negative screw is also flat-head and was excessively tight. Took a few times tightening and loosening before i coiled it. Both screws are also plated.
The insulator that was in it was a horrid white rubber that started melting as soon as I fired a coil. I immediately replaced that with a clear silicone insulator.
The first coil I made seemed to be working fine while building, test firing, etc. add juice and suddenly it will not fire. Check the positive, no fire. Check the negative, no fire. Multiple mods, nothing.
Tore the whole thing down to pieces, re-cleaned everything, re-coiled at 1.5ohm, and now it wants to fire like a champ.
Overall, it looks far more expensive until you get under the hood. They were worth the $10 spent, but had they cost any more than that, i would have felt cheated. If you get the opportunity to buy one for a few bucks, go for it... If the price tag is anything more than $10-15, you might consider another genesis.
