I agree with the above.
Tighten the screw in the switch. It should be tightened enough that it does not loosen on it's own. Some people try to use it as an adjustment, but it should be fully tight.

I also have to agree, I actually tighten mine down with a pair of pliers now. I had a nemesis switch fall apart while I was mowing the lawn one time. Lucky for me I found the bottom of the switch laying on the mower deck, never did find the springs so I put some magnets in it instead. I also got a nice little shock when I tried to push the missing button.

Give it a nice bath with some dish soap and an old tooth brush. Detail all of the threads and contact points with some isopropyl alcohol and paper towels/q-tips until they are spotless. Dirty contacts and threads will cause moderate voltage drop, and loose contacts will absolutely consume voltage. The top contact can sometimes loosen when you change batteries. For optimal performance, the top contact should be adjusted anytime your atty is changed or accidentally backed off whatsoever. Keep the bottom contact nice and snug as previously mentioned, a loose switch can lead to certain disaster.
