Zenesis plastic insulator stuck to the wick

Hi Guys, New to the forum and new to Zensis / Genesis style atomisers (been using cartomisers for about 3 years).

I wasn't happy with the vapour taste or production from my new Zenesis Mini (even after a couple of days) so thought I'd change the coil that it shipped with. Pulling out the wick, the plastic insert that I presume is there for insulation came out with the wick, they appear to be melted together and there's no way they're separating.

I'm too paranoid to simply put a new wick in, for fear of immediate shorting. I've watched lots of YouTube videos but noone ever seems to mention this insert. Can anyone help please?!

If you are oxidizing the wick properly it won't short. That or look up the Petar K method for using an unoxidized wick.
