anyone with knowledge about how to improve the switch on the new standards.got one today from a well known website, and the switch is not working properly.
From what I saw this may be a common problem with the zenesis. Don't own one but from what I heard you have to push the button from the side to make sure the button is in contact with the case. Or push it down all the way so the bottom of the botto. Touches the case
it turned out that the screw in the switch had a burr on it right at the top and it is as if someone overtightened the screw and stripped the head and raised a portion of the metal on the screw,so only the raised piece of metal was making contact with the battery's neg post and as i wiggled the button the voltage would fluctuate...go figure.
I'm having the same problem. I'm having misfires and I have to really wiggle the button to get it to fire. I didn't see any raise in my screw like Rev4298 but I noticed the is some play with the battery. In other words of I shake the pv up and down, I can feel the battery move. In using the aw imr 18650 (2000).
and the play is fine....it is designed that way. the current aw imr 18650 200mah batts are a touch shorter than when they were when introduced last feb. they are back to the 1600 mah spec in length. the zenesis was designed with the dimensions of when these batts first came out and mike left it that way to have room if they release a new battery that may be slightly longer like these last batts were. it does not affect functionality in any way
just sand the screwhead....you can't really over do it....you want to flatten it out some. if you are still having firing issues, sand the ends of the spring inside the switch
Just sanded it down and appears to be working great! Thanks again!
Btw, when I took the switch apart to sand, I noticed the spring you mention. I thought these were spouse to be magnetic button? There were no magnets in mine.
@vmason:if you use a 1/16th or 1.5mm magnet(battery spacer)on the positive terminal of the battery it will take up the gap your having with the standard.that's what i did.it's too bad Zen didn't just make the delrin a little higher or longer on the switch where it contacts the battery.
