Hey everyone. First timer posting here! Love the forum. So onward with my issue!

So I started vaping about 3 years ago on the horrid automatic ecigs. ( I call em gas station e-smokes). Sadly they never fit the bill and I fell back to analogs. Well gave it another show and this time put some money to it. Grabbed me an eGo 1100mAH starter kit. Fell in love with it and wanted more. Didn't break down and buy a Provari (yet) so instead did some research into the VMAX and now the ZMAX and recently laid claim to my very own ZMAX. So far I gotta say I love this thing. I have various tanks, atomizers, cartmizers and so forth for my little eGo. I was very anxious to play with my new toy. Grabbed up a handful of bits and juice and sat down to experience them fully. I pulled up the handy chart here at

Helpful Chart For Pairing Atomizer Resistance To Battery Volts - Help It Broke! - Technical Issues - Vapor Talk E Cig Forum

and adjusted accordingly. Well to my dismay, my juice tastes burnt. My main tanks are Viva Nova's (both the full size and the mini's). These are rated around 2.5~ ohms. 4.2 volts just make it taste horrid. 3.0 makes it taste like the eGo.

So what gives? 4.2 this beast hits like a truck but with a horrid taste and 3.0. Well I tried stepping it up in volts .1 at a time. Seems between 3.2 and 3.3 the taste just goes south. So what gives? Is watts taking a play here as well? Should I be playing around with the watts too? Being my first vv/vw apv I'm in the woods on it. Any advice would be really helpful!!!

Also recommendations for tanks and cartos would be awesome as well!!!!!

Heya...

I've been eyeballing the Z/VMAX but just havent bought it yet. What I've read though is that they seem to fire hotter than other VV devices. You might try stepping the voltage down into the area of 3.5 and see what that gets you. That being said, I'm not an expert nor do I have one yet. Just passing on what I've read. Good luck!

With the Vivi Nova and the Zmax if you turn it up that is what you get unfortunately. I'm waiting for my Zmax now, but on my Vmax I use 3ohm single coil xl cartos in a DCT. Great vape. Lots of flavor and vapor and you can vape anywhere from 4.5 to 6 volts. It's personal preference for the volts to suit your taste.

Welcome to ECF , but both the Vmax , and the Zmax are pulse modulted units . That means that what would take 4.2 volts on an Ego twist , or a Provari , or similar , only takes 3 volts on the Max's . You will get used to it , I have both the Vmax , and the Zmax , and they both hit the same . That being said , the Zmax is even better in power (wattage ) mode . Again doesn't take as much to work . What you think should be at 8 watts , only needs to be at 6 . Again you will get used to it . My biggest problem with them , is they don't alway recognize the atty's or carto's I'm using . Even on my Peneope and Ody , Very seldom works on either of them . Has to be a perfect coil and wick , no coils touching , and no shorts of any kind . Good Luck .

What others have said about the Vmax and Zmax +1. I don't own either, but from what I have read about them here in the forums is that the voltage regulators on these are not the most accurate or precise. They tend to hit "hotter" than they are set for. Most users experiment and adjust accordingly.

I may have missed it, but I didn't see where you said what resistance attachments you are using on the Zmax. You may prefer a cooler vape considering the Zmax's characteristics, and need to switch to a higher resistance.
