Hi some tips I have the Sigelei Zmax but I've been told the smoktek works the same way. So this advise should be good for either.
In the menu you'll see an option to set it to Volts or Watts.

Set it to Watts and than adjust up and down. The unit will always remember the Watts even when you change the battery. It will forget the volts and you have to readjust every time you change battery if you are using on Volts settting

I also find that due to the type of modulation that you can vape at a lower Wattage than other devices. I believe that it runs hotter.

It will take any battery, if you are not an extreme vapor, meaning that you'll be vaping under 5v and than you should be Ok with a large capacity like 2800mah protected battery. No need for LIMN. It comes with two caps so you use the extended cap for the larger 18650 battery. In terms of battery life you'll get longer life and pay less with a protected Battery.
Don't buy Ultrafire!

One more thing the very last menu [or close to it] gives an option for Mean or RMS. Mine came with a default to Mean, but the reviews said to set it to RMS to get a smoother Vape.

Good luck!!

I also purchased a ZMAX not too long ago (well today really). I have been figuring it out and the person at the iVape store ran my through all the modes and settings. I personally keep it on the wattage setting as said above because it remembers the setting unlike voltage. The ZMAX is an amazing device mine being a SmokTech. I have the V2 ZMAX which has the ability to change to RMS which is key to a good vape. I would recommend changing it to RMS if you can because it gets the most out of your device. Another thing that is nice about the ZMAX is being able to change what displays when you fire the device. I typically change it to the resistance myself. Hope you are enjoying the ZMAX as much as I am. This device is certainly a good APV. With an 18650 in it you also can expect great battery life.

I hope you figure out what the problem is and continue to use it. It has changed the way I vape now. I cannot argue with the build quality and style. It is much smaller than my Vamo in 18650 mode.

Again good luck and I am learning too so any helpful hints, feel free to send them our way!
