Hi all, I am thinking of ordering my first mod which will be the iTaste svd or Vamo v3 (not sure which yet).
I just want a bit of advice regarding the batteries and charger, do I need protected or unprotected and
what size batteries and also what kind of charger would anybody recommend.
Thanks.
I suggest using the best batteries and charger that you can reasonably afford. They will be safer (which should be your number one priority), last longer between charges, and have a longer expected lifespan. A few more bucks at the time of purchase will be worth it in the long run.
The devices that you have chosen are regulated APV's, which mean they use boost circuitry and require high drain batteries for higher voltage production. These are listed as IMR's, or high drain, or safe chemistry batteries.
A good source to buy genuine brand names is RTD Vapor. There have been incidences of counterfeit poor quality batteries dressed up to look like brand-name batteries - avoid those if at all possible. Also don't purchase or use brand-less generic batteries from E-Bay or like sources.
The I-Taste SVD and Vamo can use either a 18350 or 18650 battery.
I suggest ordering the AW IMR 18350 batteries from rtdvapor.com because they are known to carry authentic AW batteries and AW batteries are good.
You want to be using unprotected batteries in a regulated mod like the Vamo. IMR batteries are a safer chemistry than lithium-ion and the Vamo has built-in protection. Hope this helps.
I decided to buy the svd with Panasonic CGR18650CH batteries and the nitecore i2 for $61 or £42 from fasttech, which is a fantastic price (I just hope they are not fakes) Now it is the waiting game.
