hello everyone.

I was wondering if anyone else got tinnitus on one or both ears after vaping e juice of 12mg or stronger? (tinnitus is the ringing whistling or buzzing noises in the ear that everyone will have had at some time or other)
I noticed that when I vape my 15mg liquids for too long my right ear rings like mad.
I was a 25 a day smoker of 0.8mg cigarettes.
I certainly do not feel the need for nicotine on the 15mg liquids so I can assume I am not getting too little nicotine and the ringing in the ear is not down to withdrawals.
so, anyone else get the noises?

This comes round every now and again. Somebody found a plausible link but it's a very rare issue. Unless my memory is bad any possible connection was the PG/VG not the nicotine. Certainly there is no evidence pointing to a specific nicotine strength. I would call that bad science and dismiss it 100%. PG vapor, maybe?

From what I understand, it is your reaction to slight nicotine overdose, every person reacts differently. Some get dizzy others get really sweaty, others get blurred vision, in your case seems like its ear ringing. Try cutting back a bit. If you need to cut down the doze and maybe increase frequency instead, if you need to. Hope this helps and you feel better.

If you do a Google site search for Tinnitus and the ECF you will see that there have been Numerous Threads on what May or May Not effect someone with Tinnitus. One thing that comes up a Lot is PG.

Google

The Tinnitus I have has perhaps gotten slightly worse in the last 5 Years. But I'm not sure I can Attribute it to Vaping? And not just a Function of Age.

Not sure what ratio of PG to VG you use? But the Next time you purchase some e-Liquids, you might try buying a Small Bottle of High VG e-Liquid. If you like the Higher VG, then you can try Vaping it for a couple of Weeks and see if Reducing PG has any Noticeable effects.

Like a few others here, I've had it for a few years before I started vaping and it hasn't gotten better or worse.

There may be a coloration, however small in some folks. We have to remember that not a ton of studies have been done and different theories will continue to circulate.

Welcome and glad you joined.
Might like to read:

PG and tinnitus

A very small number of people with pre-existing tinnitus report that vaping of PG-based refills negatively affects their condition: the tinnitus worsens. It is extremely hard to put any kind of hard number on such an effect but it must be in the region of 1 in 10,000 persons or less. This effect is believed to be due to an ototoxic effect of PG for some people and the likelihood that vapour will permeate the ENT region including the inner ear. The solution would be to change to an all-glycerine refill, which at 2015 are becoming easier to find.

I get tinnitus if I've been chain vaping. I didn't have it before, but I vape more than I smoked in the same amount of time. For me it's the nicotine, not the PG.

Caffeine is also noted, by some, to make tinnitus worse and I tend to drink coffee while vaping.

If you Google tinnitus nicotine contradictory information comes up, as to whether tinnitus can be from nicotine use or withdrawal. In my case, I know it's from use. I vape 12mg most of the time.

I still have a morning ciggie with my coffie... and within a minute or so of the first ciggie puff my ears go into hi volume ringing ( both ears ring all the time but smoking makes it louder) I have also noticed that if I dont have my morning ciggie and only vape first, the volume increases ( but not as loud) .... so, Im gonna assume that nic can be a major component in the volume increase...

best time to check this phenomonom (sp) is when you first wake up after several hours of sleep... when you system is pretty much devoid of nic and you havent been subjected to loud noises for several hours... find a quiet place, listen to the level of ringing and then do your vape or ciggie and wait for the increased volume ;)

After vaping on a trip to Europe, I was experiencing a "blocked ear" feeling. There was a mild sense of hearing loss. I felt as though I couldn't unpop my ear in addition to bad tinnitus. I stopped the e-cig and planning to take a complete audiological evaluation by a qualified ear specialist in Calgary like the westside audiology clinic which is near to my house. I hope that helps.
