I started having connection issues with my VTR. The spinning connector was just not cutting it. So I tore it down and put a FatDaddy connector on it. I don't have pictures right now but here are the steps I took to do this.

1. Remove the bottom cover and battery tube.
2. Un-solder the positive wire from the bottom of the connector.
3. Using a 3/8" drill bit and channel locks to hold the twist ring. Drill out the ring just until it separates from the connector. Use care to not mark it up too badly.
4. Using a 1/4" drill bit and hammer knock the connector body down through the VTR and out the bottom.
5. Tap the hole with 10mX1.0 tap.
6. Run the tap through the twist ring center.
7. Spin the twist ring onto the Fatdaddy connector.
8. Run the + lead up out of the hole and place the center pin pieces on the wire and solder the center pin.
9. Screw the center pin into the connector.
10. Holding the positive wire with a needle nose from the bottom, screw the connector/twist ring into the mod.
11. replace battery tube.
12. replace bottom cover.

I will try to add a couple of pictures later. I did this on spur of the moment so I didn't take pictures of the process.
