Warm Eleaf Istick 30w when charging

Hi all,

Just a question regarding my eleaf istick 30w. Today while I was charging it via the USB cable that came with it on my laptop, it started getting warm. Now, it wasn't hot to the point where I couldn't hold it or anything, but it was still warm, a lot warmer that it usually gets. I've had it for around 2 months, and it it working fine in every other capacity. Should I be worried about this? Is it dangerous?

Were you using it while it was charging? I've noticed mine gets particularly warm while doing both at once.

They will get warm either way. Not to worry if it's just warm and not hot!

Yeah I was having a little vape on it at the time, so you're probably right. Haha, settles my mind knowing its safe if its just warm and not hot! Thanks!

Yeah...you DO NOT want a battery to reach thermal runaway, would kinda ruin your day.

Haha, indeed. Read so much about the Istick 50w exploding and stuff so I was a bit worried. Seems like it is all good now with this one though. I'll just always keep and eye on it!

Probably not related to the heat, but I would generally avoid charging it with your computer, it's better and safer for your computer if you use a wall plug.

Oh really? Is it safe to do that on any USB enabled wall plug? I have the USB lead that came with the Istick, but it didn't come with a plug. Would a phone charger plug be ok to use?

I don't have one so I'm not sure but I believe it calls for a 1 amp charger. If you have the box and papers for the Istick It will say how many amps to use

The charge circuit on your mod "shouldn't" allow more than 500mah which is considered safe for mod batteries. You'll hear some prefer 480mah for longevity of the battery, but I've seen no proof of this.

If I'm in a pinch, I will remove my batteries and charge then at 1amp. Definitely decreases battery life though.

Yeah I only said what I did because of everyone saying using the wrong charger with the 50 watt Istick is what caused problems. I used the Eleaf charger with mine and it still messed up though.
