Vegas Vapefest a joke

For any of you that think you missed out . You really just saved some money , and a lot of frustration . The organizers of this event , with any luck , and the grace of God , go out of the promotion business forever . It was not very well organized (at all ) . Maybe a dozen vendors , (no show specials ) to speak of . Door prizes , were a joke . When I got there (The Flamingo Hotel & Casino ) none of the hotel personel , had any idea , what I was talking about . No sign , no directions , nothing that indicated you were even in the right place . Then after finding it on my own , It was stuck away , on a nondescript floor and room , with no sign , or banner "VapeFest" to be found . As I only live 15 minutes away , I only wasted one afternoon . I genuinely feel sorry for the patrons , and even the vendors that made the trip across the country , for nothing . Maybe they can enjoy a buffet , or do some gambling . They might as well , as they have already thrown a good portion of their hard earned cash , out the window .

That's really too bad. I've heard about it a few times on the forums and in some videos. I figured it would be a lot bigger. Sounds like something someone could have thrown together in their backyard and been easier to find.

I think a lot of it goes out to the fact that Vapercon is right around the corner and well...the whole fiasco and drama a few months back after the first vapefest...a lot of people pulled the plug after that unfortunately. I had hoped to make vegas or even vapercon for that matter but alas, no budget for such things this year...

That's a shame. It's been hyped for a while and thought more people would have gone or that it would've been organised better.

I think Nighteyes has it right. Too much drama. And a lot of people shied away.

I'm still trying to wrangle my way into Vaporcon. I have transportation and housing. But have some other responsibilities that have to be considered

I'm sorry the event didn't go over well though- I had friends there who are both in the business or just heavy duty vapers.

Is this all some of you have to do is create unnecessary drama. How many of you were even there to agree with this? Taz, Julie, Kev, Laurel, Ravin or Charmed, were you there?

I was there both days. I took time off work & spent time away from my family thinking this was going to be "bigger than the VA meet". I was disappointed to say the least. Some of the behavior displayed by organizers of the event was disgraceful to the entire vaping community. There was no mention of where we were on IVAQS status......my door prizes weren't even valuable enough to bring home. Table center pieces consisted of a bowl full of cheap candy like bubble gum & sweet tarts. There were no food nor drink options except for a few water coolers along side the walls. At 9pm a cash bar opened & the bartender was rude to the vapers purchasing drinks because "the nicotine was getting into his lungs". People that purchased raffle tickets online had no idea what their raffle numbers were, so they couldn't tell if they were "one number higher or lower" to be the raffle winner on day 2.

Luckily I had been to Vegas many times before & knew of other places to go & things to do while I was there or my view of the place would have been tainted.

After traveling all that way........donating money, buying raffle tickets, & paying an entrance fee, I'm STILL trying to find out what is happening with IVAQS.

I couldn't have said it any better than Renzuli did. I did meet a handful of ECF members, & it was nice to put a name to a face. Other than that......... this was a total failed event. Sixteen vendors (with 3 of them being local vegas vendors).........that is insane. I get AT LEAST 3 vendors at a local Houston FREE event with FREE prizes & attendance of 30-40 people.

I see no drama being created. Renzuli attended the event. This is his blog & it's open to comments. I'm thinking that the other commenters here are also wondering about the status of IVAQS. It's hard to throw your money at something that you keep getting the run around about.

No, I wasn't there. I made a deliberate decision not to attend because I don't wish to support NVC, and I have no confidence in IVAQS. I'm not alone . . . a lot of people took a pass on attending, particularly a significant portion of the veteran vapers.

Even though I don't support NVC or IVAQS (both huge disasters at this point, as far as I'm concerned), I very much hope that the vapers who attended had fun. I suspect that, especially for those who've never attended a large gathering before, they did have fun . . . it's almost impossible not to when in the company of fellow vapers.

I will say that I saw the live feed from time to time, and there weren't nearly as many people in the room as I would have expected. In fact, I don't think I ever saw more than 50 people in the room at any one time. (But, admittedly, I didn't watch the live feed for hours on end.) I am guessing that while some people primarily hung out in the conference room, quite a few spent most of their time enjoying what Vegas has to offer.

Was it a fail? I don't know. I suspect that NVC will deem it a success if it collected enough money to finish IVAQS, so I guess we'll see.

I was there and it was a blast. there were over 300 attendies and everyone was having a great time. i was directed by the front desk to exactly the right spot. there were $6000+ in raffle prizes. I had an amazing time and everyone i talked to has said they had a blast as well.
It was a huge success.

jdvorr I don't know who you work for , probably the organizer , But your full of it . No one was having a good time , I know , I was there , as were several other ecf members bmwjen , boodle , as well as some others . And the raffle prizes ???please . maybe 50.00 worth , where did you dream up 6000.00 , a lie . The hotel desk had no idea what or where I was talking about , So yet , another lie . So try telling everyone that they had a blast . Again , either you have a bone to pick with me , or your just straight up , a liar .

I think there was probably 6k TOTAL in raffle prizes. The tickets were $20 for 5. Not bad if you were like me & won a $100 gift certificate. I actually had people hand me their raffle tickets on the first day because they weren't staying at "vapefest", & wanted to do something else. (can't say I blame them)

Apparently........according to what was posted on a thread I started on ECF.......we are $3,500 away from IVAQS being published. (i'm sorry I had to laugh a little AND throw up in my mouth as I typed that). From all that i've read I was under the impression that Vegas was the final funding needed for IVAQS...........now if they did not get that money, then it was in essence a "fail".

I believe that JD has some affiliation with Elixir TV. I hang out in there from time to time.

These are all just my opinions only, so take them for what they are worth. The most fun part for me was being able to put a face with a name with people I've only spoke with on ECF. Even then, I think I talked to more ECF vendors than members. In closing.....Thank heavens for after parties. :) & the rest that the city of Las Vegas had to offer.

Funny how some people change their stories , after the fact but that's OK . While I was there , there was maybe 25.00 worth of prizes given out , and I was there for nearly six hours on Friday . Guess they saved all the good stuff for Saturday . I won't be wasting my time posting on this forum , anymore .

I don't have a bone to pick with anyone. I was giving an honest opinion, as I assume you were. I guess we had different experiences while we were there. I don't work for anyone in the ecig business. I am an unpaid host on an internet vaping network. I and everyone around me was having a great time. The desk clerk directed me right to the event immediately. These are not lies. There was an amazing amount of raffle prizes. Did you stay for the whole event? Sorry dude but you calling me a liar is really insulting and just plain wrong. I and a whole lot of people were having a great time. Sorry you didn't. Maybe you're just no fun.

Renzuli made me laugh more than anyone else I met at Vapefest. He is a total blast to hang with. On top of that, he keeps it real. **don't you dare stop posting**:) ECF had nothing to do with the trainwreck known as "vegas vapefest". I'm actually proud that ECF had nothing to do with it. I just wish that veteran vapers would have "warned me".

Just like anything else in Vegas........vapefest should have been "over the top fabulous". It simply wasn't. There are local entertainers, then there are Vegas entertainers, local magicians, then Vegas magicians. There are local vape meets, then there is a Vegas Vapefest. In my opinion, I traveled over 1k miles expecting "vapefest" to be "Vegas Style" i.e. completely over the top fabulous. -----It wasn't.

There were FEW high dollar prizes. Other prizes included a water bottle with an atty, or cherry vapes drip tip in it. 510 disposables, regular 510 kits, or ego kits. I traded the Ego kit for a mini roughstack, a gift certificate that I won for something that I actually needed from a vendor at the meet. In the words of someone else, "Vapefest should have been called "juicefest".

I've been to conventions in genres other than vaping & this just didn't quite make the grade. There were no "new & upcoming" things, no "newly released" things, no talk of how far the community has come & where it looks to go in the future.

If I wanted a "juicefest", or a "vape meet" that was just "normal".........I could have stayed in my hometown. This vapemeet was a far cry from anything "vegas style".

Again, thank heavens for the city of Vegas & what it had to offer other than vapefest.

I feel like I have to say something here. I am just a vaper. I am not a vendor or a sponsor of any kind. I went to Vapefest to meet other vapers and to partake in some fun with them. I met a lot of extemely nice and very fun people and I had a wonderful fun time.

The only problem I see with this meet up was the location. There are so many things to do in Vegas that the attendance was sort of sporadic, come and go. If Vapefest had been held in, say, Richmond, VA., where there are far fewer night life attractions, the conference room would have stayed much fuller until all hours of the morning.

I understand there has been controversy and "drama" about NVC and IVAQS. If my attendance at Vapefest helps to quicken the release of the IVAQS report that is good. If the results never surface that is NOT good. Get that last bit of funding and make it happen!

I had a great time and would do it over again if given the choice. To sum it up, Vapefest was a blast!

This seems a bit funny, but it seemed that most of the people there were having a great time. Including you Jen.... I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and you can call it whatever you want. Whether Vapefest, or Vapemeet, or whatever the term you use. There is more to a fest than just the vendors, door prizes, or chatting about how far we have come.

My main purpose was the community of vapers getting together, meeting people I have only seen online here, on VapeTV, or ElixirTV. There is way too much drama in this blog and comments looking to start something. And I am disappointed in you Jen, you seemed like a very nice and good person when we chatted.

All of you are entitled to your own opinions, but you do not speak for us all. Honestly, I do not give a rat's a@$ where my $40 bucks for both days went to. I wasted more money on the damn slot machines. And I do not care about the drama between NVC & IVAQS. I had fun. Plain and simple. I bought some stuff, had fun hanging out with other people, is there really anything else that needs to happen? Looks like your priorities are simply placed in the wrong place. But as always.... that is MY opinion.

Hadn't planned on any more comments on this thread , but after reading some of them , I feel I must . When I posted this , I was simply stating that I did not have a good time , nor did I find any of the items and/or activities I expected . A lot of you seemed to enjoy yourselves , and that's great . But just because you did , doesn't mean you should talk trash about those , that didn't . To each his own . My .02 worth .

Ren, I couldn't read the chat & was listening on my phone. I surely hope you were at the show. I miss you :)

I am glad I didn't take my limited vacation time to attend this event. I would have been ...... if I flew in from NY (with non vaping hubby in tow) to find what was made to sound like a "trade showesque" event to be some meet in a back room like everyone is describing.

Also, I didn't realize this was just an "open your pocket" type of event to raise $ (by a group I know nothing about, where the $ was going I wouldn't know). Hmm, I just got a quick schooling in these last 2 days. I have had a really bad taste put in my mouth now.
