My question is what coil would be best for the fireluke 4 ? I was going to get 904L X2 coils but I can't find them anywhere in anything but .15 ohms and I'm worried the hits will be too hot for me and not have enough flavor. So now I'm considering which of the X/TX series would be best.

I was referred here by Z-Lee because I was wondering about how the ohm of a coil affects the flavour of e liquid especially the sweetness of a flavour.

Hello and welcome to another review today. I have to admit that I’ve been procrastinating on writing this one. I was sent the BP Mods Tomahawk SBS Squonk Mod by Dovpo in order to provide a fair and honest review. When I received the Tomahawk, it arrived in a plastic bag and there was no box, user manual, or accessories included. I have been trying to find out more information on this mod kit but have found very little so please bear with me as I try my best to cover this mod. It has not even been added to the Dovpo website at the time of writing this. I did find it for sale on a couple of U.K. websites but did not find much information on it and have not seen any other reviews that really covered the function of it. Here’s what I do know. It is obviously an SBS (side by side) mod that uses a single 18650 battery and comes with a squonk bottle that has a 510 male connector on one end and a female 510 on the other end with the center being open so you can squonk with it. The mod itself is made of SS and aluminum and weighs in at 120g which is really a pretty nice weight and gives it a good hand feel without being too heavy.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

Normally this is where I tell you about the packaging but I didn’t receive any packaging with it except a clear plastic bag and don’t feel like that is worth showing. Instead, I’ll start out by talking about my experience with the Tomahawk upon receiving it.

Without a user manual and not being able to find much about it when I received it, I tried to figure out how to fill the included squonk bottle. Keep in mind that I received this along with the rest of the BP Mods samples that I have already posted reviews on. I purposely waited to do this one last in hopes of finding out more or at least being able to download a user manual. I have gone to the Dovpo website many times to check for promotional images and a user manual but as of today it still isn’t up on the website and I’m not really sure why when there are online stores taking orders for it already.

I got a little off track already but going back to filling the squonk bottle. Other bottles I’ve used always open from one end or the other but this one does not. It took me quite a while to figure out how to fill it and I felt rather stupid after I did figure it out. I thought the top would unthread and you would fill from the top. That’s not the case. There is a round thick rubber seal on the top of the bottle that forms a seal with whatever rda you choose to use with it for squonking. I finally tried to lift that seal and discovered that it functions much like a rubber plug does on a pod type device and although it’s a little hard to lift at first, you can easily fill the bottle and push the seal back down to close it off. Once you screw the rda down on top of it then it secures that seal even more. Of course once I figured out how to open it then it was that I noticed the arrows molded into the top of the seal that show you where to lift to fill the bottle. The bladder in the bottle is replaceable and is very soft so you need to be careful not to over squonk when pushing on it. It moves quite a bit of liquid pretty easily.

Of course if you don’t like squonking then you can still use the Tomahawk as a standard SBS mod. I haven’t yet but want to try the bottle on some of my other SBS mods and some day may buy a few spare bottles. If you choose to use it as a standard mod then it will accept tanks up to 24mm in diameter. Anything much larger than that and there isn’t room to screw the tank onto the mod.

I personally do like squonk mods and so I decided to try it as intended. I chose to run a Dead Rabbit Solo RDA on it since the Tomahawk has a top end of 60 watts. I ran a single Ni80 fused Clapton coil at .35 ohms at 33 watts on the DR Solo.

As you can see below, the side of the mod has the round fire button near the top with the + and – buttons directly below it. The fire button is easy enough to find when thumb firing like I prefer but do wish it protruded a little more so it was easier to find by feel rather than sometimes having to look for it. It has a nice click to it when pressed and have never had a no fire situation when testing the mod.

The battery is loaded from the top of the mod and have to admit that I don’t love the battery cap on this one. I have never been real crazy about battery caps that are not solid and let you see the top of the battery. The battery is loaded with the positive side down so as you can see, the negative is on top and you can see it through the battery cap.

In the second picture below, if you look at the bottom of the mod on the back side, this is where the USB-C charging port is located. I know it’s not recommended to charge batteries inside of the mod but as much as I don’t like the battery cap, I have to admit that I am tempted to just plug in the mod and charge the battery.

The display for the Tomahawk mod is on the front and is somewhat small but still able to be read fairly easily. It shows the Set Wattage, Output Voltage, Coil Resistance, and Battery level indicator When in Power mode. The Tomahawk mod does offer some different modes such as the normal TC modes and Bypass. Rather than type out the button functions like I normally do, I found this really handy chart online that is the second picture below and clearly explains the button functions for the Tomahawk mod.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I would like to say that it’s been a pleasure doing this review but honestly it was quite the pain since I feel like I may have left some things out due to the fact of not receiving proper packaging and a user manual. On top of that I do not understand why Dovpo wouldn’t take the time to put this fantastic mod up on their website. Actually using and testing the mod has indeed been a pleasure. The mod gives off a feeling of a high quality made device. It’s very comfortable to hold and use without being too heavy even after the bottle is filled and an rda is placed on top. It really has quite a natural feel to it and can definitely see myself using this one long term.

I do like the design idea where you can use it as a squonk mod or as a standard mod by simply unscrewing the bottle. Even with the bottle and an rda installed it doesn’t seem too tall to me at all. Also being able to take the bottle and use it on any mod with a 510 connection is a nice bonus. I have a handful of SBS mods and could see myself using one of these bottles on those mods also.

I felt like the Tomahawk did a good job of battery management while using only an 18650. Running at 33 watts was a good fit for me and the battery seemed like it lasted a good while. I don’t know much about the chipset on this one so can’t really tell you about it other than it seems rather user friendly and has decent features.

So, with what I know at this point, would I recommend the Tomahawk SBS Mod for you? If you like SBS mods whether you squonk or not this is a well built and well-functioning mod and I would definitely recommend it.

Anyone can point me to a tried & true "Jamaican Rum" recipe but one that doesn't contain the vaping ingredients most say to avoid, i.e. Acetyl Propionyl, Diketones etc??

Way before I started making my own juice, I had tried an Jamaican Rum flavor at a vape shop that I absolutely loved. Best I could describe it is, it was a "warm" somewhat "heavy" flavor.

Eleven years ago my wife came home with a blue cig-alike that she got from a coworker. She gave it to me to try because I was smoking two packs aday and blues we're the new hype and they even had commercials on tv supporting vaping at the time.

I immediately took a liking to the new technology and did alot of research. Shortly after I purchased two started kits with cartomizers and ego pens. One kit for me and one for her. The learning curve was a little rough with all the leaking in the pockets as supposed to smoking but I was determined to get it right. My wife decided that she couldn't vape because it was to difficult to maintain. I offerd to do everything for her, cleaning, refilling and purchasing everything necessary for us to continue vaping.

She was adamant that it was easier to smoke and that she didnt like the vaping. Over the course of the eleven years I have been vaping I've tried over and over to get her to stop smoking and vape with me but to no avail.

November 30th 2022 my wife went to the hospital to get a cat-scan for a small hernia in her stomach and an annual breast check up. The xray tech must have been heaven sent because he noticed something else and ask her to get back on the machine. It was bad news, she has renal carcinoma from smoking with high blood pressure. The cancerous tumor has consumed her entire right kindy with very little good tissue left. She is so so lucky that the cancer hasnt spread into her lymphs and veins. November 30th 2022 was the last day she had a cigarette.

Shes going into surgery mid January and it sucks that this had to happen for her to quit smoking. Do yourself a favor if you still smoke and cant quit, vape and dont quit learning about vaping. Its probably bad too but it will never be as bad as smoking. I rather have a little lung inflammation then cancer or an organ removed.
