INNOKIN SCEPTRE II POD MOD review by hittman

Hello everyone. Yes I know you’ve been seeing a lot of me lately but it is for good reason. There have been a lot of new products released lately. Of course Innokin wasn’t going to be left out of the action. Innokin has sent me two samples and some spare coils and pods in order to provide you with a fair and honest review on the all new Innokin Sceptre II. The original Sceptre was released in 2020 and although it was a great device, there were some complaints on it as far as design was concerned but operation was good. I have to admit, I was one with a few suggestions for changes and it appears that once again Innokin has listened to the end users and reviewers and have made some really great updates like improving the airflow control, making the coils push to fit, and moving the fire button. Moving the fire button was the best change for me. Although the original Sceptre was auto and button activated, I could never get used to the fire button on the side of the mod. This new Sceptre is also a little smaller and more compact while maintaining the same 1400mah battery capacity. The pods are 3ml which is a little bigger than what seems to be the standard 2ml that I see on most pod devices.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

I have to congratulate Innokin for not only switching to but sticking with the fully recyclable packaging that they moved to some time ago showing that they are trying to do their part to preserve the environment. The packaging for the Sceptre II is very similar to prior samples I’ve seen from them. Innokin has always been good to send two sample kits and most times extra accessories. This time was no different. Not only did they send two kits but also extra pod kits and extra coils. By sending two kits that allows the reviewer to test both different coils at once and the extra accessories in a way are good insurance in case a kit happens to have a bad coil or something. I recently reviewed a kit and one of the coils was bad almost immediately after starting to use it so I was not able to do a proper review on that coil since no spares were sent by that company. My point is that Innokin is smart and generous when it comes to review samples.

The front of the box has a nice color picture of the device inside the package, a list of some features, and a very large warning. The back side of the box has a warning label, authenticity code, a list of the contents, and the company information of Innokin. Also there is another large warning.

1663202799273.png

1663202829390.png

Innokin uses a different style of box compared to most review samples I see. Many have an outer sleeve that slides off and a box top underneath that has to be lifted off. Innokin instead uses a box with a hinged flip open lid. Once opened the Sceptre II is visible with the pod and .6 ohm coil pre-installed. Underneath the cardboard tray is where you find the user manual, charging cable, spare .5 ohm coil (also in recyclable pouch), and warning booklet. I received the blue and rainforest versions for my review.

1663202883832.png

The Sceptre pod has been updated compared to the original version. The original version had a bottom airflow control where you had to remove the pod in order to change the airflow. I didn’t much care for that but once you got it set then you didn’t need to change it. The new Sceptre pod has a side airflow control that allows you to slide the control while the pod is installed in the Sceptre II.

Z9AIhhi.jpg

The process of changing the coil has also been updated with the Sceptre II. The original Sceptre had a system where the coil base was incorporated into the base and you had to remove it before the coil could be unscrewed. The new one is a simple push to fit system. You still have a coil base that screws onto the coil but then you just push the coil into the pod. The bottom of the pod has four strong magnets that hold the pod in place securely. There is really no chance of it coming out accidentally. As a matter of fact it takes a little effort to remove the pod.

Like I have already shown in the above picture, the sliding airflow control is on one side of the pod. On the opposite side is the fill port covered with a rubber plug. The plug is fairly easy to lift up with a fingernail and can be rotated slightly to fill the pod. The pods are tinted some but it’s not too difficult to see the liquid while filling. There is an arrow stamped into the rubber plug that shows the user the direction to lift the plug for filling. It’s pretty mess free to fill but I always give it a quick wipe after closing the plug.

There are two coils included in the Sceptre II kit. There is the .5 ohm S Coil that you might be familiar with but there is also a new S coil in a .6 ohm resistance. The Sceptre II is also compatible with the .65 ohm and 1.2 ohm coils. The included .5 ohm coil is rated for 18-20 watts while the .6 ohm coil is rated for 11.5-16.5 watts.

1663203619141.png

BpvSi8A.jpg

The Sceptre II has a 1400mah battery capacity which is the same as the original one but Innokin has managed to reduce the size to make it more compact. The aesthetics of the new Sceptre are very pleasing in my opinion. The front has a silver diagonal stripe separating the solid body color which in this case is Rainforest. The color is only on the front. In the center of the silver stripe is my favorite upgrade on the Sceptre II. The fire button has been moved to the front where it was on the side on the original and I found it to be a little awkward.

The sides and back are just black. On the left side is the USB-C charging port. I have not yet seen a stated charging rate on the Sceptre II. The fill port on the pod is also on the left side but it is not accessible while the pod is installed in the mod. On the right side is where you have access to the sliding airflow control while the pod is installed.

The Sceptre II has two output levels which are indicated by LED lights on the front of the mod. There are two LED’s on the front. The one on the left of the fire button indicates the output level where blue = normal and purple = high. Simply press the fire button twice to switch between the output levels. The LED on the right side of the fire button indicates the battery level. These lights illuminate whether you press the fire button or use the auto draw function that works very well. The battery level indications are as follows.

  • Green = >30%
  • Orange = 10-30%
  • Red = <10%
Also when charging the battery light will stay red until it reaches a 90% charge or higher.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I have really enjoyed testing the Innokin Sceptre 2 kits that were sent to me for review. I ran the .6 ohm coil in the blue edition and the .5 ohm coil in the Rainforest version. I honestly didn’t notice a huge difference between them as far as flavor production. Both delivered good flavor and similar amounts of vapor. Both were run on the high (purple) setting. I ran the .5 coil with the airflow wide open and closed it maybe ¼ for the .6 ohm coil. With the airflow closed slightly I kept hearing a buzzing sound when taking a puff. It very much reminded me of running a different frequency on the Sensis kit which I also reviewed. With the airflow open, it is smooth and quiet. With it partially closed is the only time I hear the sound I described. The airflow was still smooth but it was a little noisy.

Innokin really took into consideration the thoughts of users when redesigning the Sceptre II. The upgraded airflow control is a welcome addition. I tend to like a loose MTL but for those who like a tighter draw then you can definitely get a tighter draw with this if you like. The smaller size to make it more compact is also a nice feature. However, my favorite upgrade is the fire button being moved from the side to the front. Now it’s very natural for me to use the fire button where it wasn’t on the original Sceptre. The push to fit redesign for coil changing is definitely a nice change. However, you will want to keep close watch on your thread on coil adapter when changing coils because you can’t use the device without it and there was not a spare included in the kit.

Overall the newly redesigned Sceptre II seems like a really great pod device. I would definitely recommend trying it if you are looking for a well built and good performing pod. With the two included coil options or the other two that are compatible, I would think you could find something to fit your vaping style. However with a maximum output of 20 watts, don’t expect it to be a cloud machine. That’s not what it was designed for anyway.

I’d like to thank Innokin and Nicole for sending the Innokin Sceptre II kits and accessories so that I could provide you with this review. Thanks also to the readers! You make this possible. Below is a link to the website so you can take a closer look for yourself.

DOVPO SAMDWICH RDA review by hittman

I’m glad to be back again with another review for Dovpo. This time I will be taking a look at the new Dovpo Samdwich RDA. It is a single coil rda that has some really neat airflow options. There are four different airflow options as well as a top airflow. The Samdwich is pretty small as it has dimensions of 22mm x 31.9mm. There are also different outside caps available but not included. It also includes a squonk pin which is how I plan to run it for testing. Let’s go ahead and see what’s included and take a look at some promotional images. Then I’ll give my thoughts on this new rda.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The packaging for the Samdwich RDA is a bit different than what I’ve seen from other samples that I’ve received. It comes in a small box with a semitransparent cover over the top and the name Across with their mountain symbol in the upper right corner. The Samdwich name is in bigger type across the center. You lift that plastic cover to one side and the rda is visible with a box of accessories sitting beside it in a foam insert.

gg0rab5.jpg

XCt9TY8.jpg

As always it’s a good idea to take any new tank apart as far as possible and give it a good cleaning. I had a little trouble getting the airflow control portion out of the main body of the rda initially. It was very tight. I ended up pushing the airflow control out as gently as possible from the inside using a small screwdriver. Once I had it out and cleaned then I put a little vg on it which made it move more smoothly and was now able to remove it without pushing from the inside.

1663200846186.png

The Samdwich does come with a tapered 510 drip tip but it was a little short for me so I went ahead and switched it out for a different tip after trying it for a while. As you can see in the picture below, the markings on the airflow adjustment show clearly which set of airflow holes are available to be used. The only branding is the Samdwich name you see on the picture. The outer chamber has two notches protruding so that the outer barrel of the rda locks securely into the base with no chance of turning the barrel without turning the base.
1eDT7Xz.jpg

Below are a few close up pictures of the airflow adjustment portion removed so you can get a better idea of what the actual airflow holes look like. There aren’t any side airflow openings on the barrel so all airflow comes through the top. This is nice in my opinion as you don’t have to worry about any liquid spilling if you tip the rda too much. I have had that happen with other rdas that have side airflow openings.

1663200994980.png

1663201028604.png

1663201061590.png

I think I mentioned already that the Samdwich is a 22mm diameter rda. What this correlates to is that it’s not going to have a huge area to build on. It is a single coil rda. I initially tried one of the included 2.5 mm coils that were in the accessory bag and immediately installed the squonk pin. I had two different squonk mods I wanted to try it on. The first was of course was the Dovpo Pump Squonk mod. It performed pretty well on it but with the 2.5mm coil I kept thinking I could get better flavor. I ended up removing the 2.5mm coil and installed a 3mm Ni80 coil which measured in at .39 ohms on my other squonk mod since there’s no display on the Pump Squonk mod. To me this was a marked improvement in combination with a longer drip tip.

The first picture shows the bare deck which has two slotted head screws. On either side of each post screw is a shoulder so that the wire is easier to trap. In the second picture below it shows the 2.5mm coil installed. Once the legs are locked in and the screws are tightened down then it is easy to clip off the excess leg length. It’s really an easy deck to build on. Just not a lot of room. The third picture is of course the same coil wicked and wetted. Finally the fourth picture is the set up that I ended up with that included a longer drip tip and the Pump Squonk mod that I previously reviewed. The Pump Squonk mod has stayed in my rotation with an rda on it since I reviewed it. I really like it.

1663201189773.png

1663201239194.png

Below is a quick picture of the 3mm coil that I installed after trying one of the included coils. I felt like I got better performance with the larger coil. More vapor and flavor were produced with this one. Also in the picture below you can see the opening in the center of the deck where the liquid comes in when you have the squonk pin installed and are using a squonk mod.

1663201298572.png

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I really enjoyed testing the Dovpo Samdwich RDA. I have tested several rdas in the past and this is a pretty good one. It’s hard to compare this one to the others since most were dual coil rdas. This one is smaller also than any of the others I have tested with it being only 22mm in diameter. It’s actually nice to have a single coil rda for a change. It’s very easy and simple to build and use.

The four different airflow settings are a plus as well as it not having any side airflow holes with the stock cap so leaking is not an issue. However, there are optional top caps available and some of those do have side airflow openings.

I think that most rdas come with a squonk pin these days and am glad that it came with one also. That is my preferred method of use if I’m going to use an rda. It’s hard to believe that there was one rda from another company that came without a squonk pin and I saw several complaints about it on the forum. I don’t know what they were thinking. Don’t worry, as usual Dovpo has covered all the bases with the Samdwich.

I also like how the outer cap has two notches that stick out to lock into the cutouts in the base so there is no chance that the barrel will turn without the base. I’ve reviewed several different devices for Dovpo the last year or two and can’t think of one that I didn’t like. They seem to always have very good build quality in my opinion.

So obviously, yes I would recommend the Dovpo Samdwich RDA for you if you are looking for a solid rda that delivers good flavor and vapor production while using a single coil. I’d like to thank Dovpo and Dorothy for sending the Samdwich RDA for this review. Thanks go out to all the readers who make it to the end of my reviews. Below is a link to the website if you’d like to look at the Samdwich or any of the other tanks or mods that Dovpo has to offer.

VOOPOO DRAG E 60 KIT REVIEWED BY BIGBOB2322

Hello once again and welcome to today's review of the Drag E 60 Kit from Voopoo. The Drag E 60 Kit was sent to me from Voopoo for the purpose of this review. The Drag E 60 has a built in battery with a rating of 2550mAh and goes from 5-60w with 3 different power modes to chose from. The included Pod has a capacity of4.5ml and as most do connects using 3 magnets. The Drag E 60 Pod uses a new PNP coil but all PNP coils will work in it. The size of this little ACE as Voopoo likes to call it is a perfect palm fit an a nice stealth device that almost disappears in the hand.

623 days ago, I quit vaping. I took a few drags today.

I had a rough time with Covid back in Nov '20. Got sick a few days before Thanksgiving and was sick for a few weeks but not bad enough to go to the hospital. Fast forward to late December and my blood pressure was elevated to 224/124 and stayed in the hospital for a few days. The wait in the ER was over 8 hours long due to the amount of covid patients at that time, and I went out to the car to get a quick vape late in the evening. My last one for 623 days. When I was released, I headed to the car and immediately picked up the vape and told myself not to do it and put it back into the console where it stayed until a few weeks ago when I threw it away trading in that car.

Now today, I've been fighting a sinus infection of some sort for 10 days, and for some reason I've just been wanting to vape again. Guess I always believed the vape helped sinus infections and such or was just a convenient excuse. I snuck into my wife's vaping stuff and took a few drags outside. Funny thing is she knew I was up to something!!

Not sure how I feel about this. I know I miss it at times. I know my daughters will be disappointed. When I did vape, and I vaped A LOT, I could easily run 20+ miles and ran 2000 miles a year, so I feel as if it wasn't hurting me too much. That's a huge change from cigarettes, where I could barely walk up a hill. I think it's been 6 or 7 years since I've had a cigarette. I'm 54 yrs old now. Still occasionally run and MTB, but nothing like I used to do.

Not sure where I'm going with this post, think I'm just ranting and thinking out loud on a forum. ;)

Has anyone found 18650 batteries on Amazon? Ro

One of my 186500 batteries just shot its load and I need to buy a new one. I want to use Amazon because I have prime so the shipping would be free. I purchased two batteries from a vape store in the past, but they stopped working after a couple days so I'll be avoiding that from now on. Thanks in advance for any recs.

New Release - Freemax Galex Pod System Kit

Freemax Galex is a draw-activated pod device featuring a 2mL top-filling Galex Pod and an 800mAh rechargeable Galex Battery with a USB Type-C port. Inspired by the vast galaxy, Freemax Galex Kit is the next-generation pod system with Freemax's typical full-spectrum lighting design and industry-leading FM SaltCoilTech 4.0 technology.

This pod system is compatible with the GX Mesh Coil, which applies FM SaltCoilTech 4.0 technology and currently comes in 0.8ohm and 1.0ohm. Moreover, Galex Pod is a 2mL refillable cartridge with a top filling system, which is simple and safe to use. Besides, it is equipped with FM Leak-Resistant Tech with a maze chimney on either side of the pod.

As for me, the most interesting feature of the Galex Kit is the lighting design. Galex Battery has a stylish metal body and is equipped with a colorful lighting design for a shining appearance and a better interactive vaping experience.

Here are the main features of Freemax Galex Pod System Kit:
1. Full Spectrum Vaping - Shine Like the Galaxy
2. FM SaltCoilTech 4.0 - Ultra Mouth-to-Lung Solution
3. FM Leak-Resistant Tech - Creative Maze Chimney Design
4. Top-Filling Galex Pod - Compatible with GX Mesh Coils
5. 800mAh Rechargeable Battery - Large Enough for All-Day Vaping

VapeFly Manners R Pod Kit - The Manners gets an overhaul

The VapeFly Manners R Pod Kit is basically an overhaul of the much older original Manners pod kist that was released more than a year ago. Getting close to an AIO, but not quite there, the Manner R is one of the bigger current gen pod kits currently out on the market.
