I bought a Smok Novo 4 pod system recently. I've been using a 50/50 30mg/ml nic salt juice in it, and it constantly leaks out of the airflow on the bottom of the pod itself and at the bottom of the coil head. I've been using the 0.8 ohm mesh coil heads. I've tried putting a new coil in, and swapping the pod out, and nothing seems to be working. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with this issue?

Hello and welcome back for another review. I’m here today to talk with you about the Lost Vape Centaurus Q80 Pod Mod Kit that was sent to me in order to provide a fair and honest review by Sourcemore. Normally I review Lost Vape items for the company but this one wasn’t available from them for review so I decided to ask Sourcemore if I could review it and they were nice enough to oblige.

The Centaurus Q80 uses a single 18650 battery in order to provide a maximum output of 80 watts. It uses the Quest 2.0 chipset and provides USB-C fast charging. The Q80 is a pod mod and comes with the UB Ultra pod and is compatible with the UB Ultra coils. The included pod offers a 5.5ml capacity which is a nice size especially since it is a bottom fill pod. It’s too bad that they weren’t able to incorporate a top fill or side fill like the UB Pro pod. I have high hopes for this one but you’re going to have to read further to see what my final thoughts are on this one.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The packaging for the Centaurus Q80 is what I’ve become used to seeing from Lost Vape samples. Lost Vape commonly uses white boxes as they did with this one. There is a very nice color picture on the front of the device contained inside the package. Near the bottom you’ll notice the Quest 2.0 chip being mentioned. However this one has a different user interface than what was used with other mods in the Quest line of products. This is the first pod device in the Centaurus series. There was a pod mod in the Thelema line that I liked very much but never reviewed. On the back of the outer shell is a contents list, warning, company information, authenticity code and a bar code with the color version stated on it.

Once the outer shell is removed and the box top is removed, the mod and pod are wrapped in a soft white cover for shipping so the device does not get scratched. Also inside the kit there are two coils which are the UB Ultra M1 at .3 ohms and rated for 30-40 watts and the M3 coil at .15 ohms rated for 60-80 watts, a USB-C charging cable, some o rings, warranty card, and user manual.



The UB Ultra pod has a liquid capacity of 5.5ml and is a bottom fill pod via the standard rubber plug on the bottom. I sure wish they could have made this one a top fill or side fill where you didn’t have to remove the pod to fill it.

The top of the pod has both the Lost Vape and UB Ultra names on it which honestly I find completely unnecessary. I feel like this extra branding was a little bit too much. The drip tip that comes with the pod is a standard 510 tip so you can use a different one if you like. I personally found the included tip very comfortable to use.

The pod attaches to the mod via three magnets that hold it in very securely and I have had no issues with it coming loose accidentally. The airflow adjustment is built into the body of the mod. The control ring is knurled but is a bit recessed so takes a little bit of extra effort to adjust compared to controls on most tanks. In the picture below I was running the .3 coil with the airflow about 1/3 open.











That’s about it for the pod. Not much to talk about. Now let’s take a look at the Centaurus Q80 mod. I really love the shade of blue that was used on this mod. On the left side is the Centaurus Quest name and on the right side is the Lost Vape name. The main body of the mod is made of zinc alloy and stainless steel. I believe the side panels with the writing are stickers or glued on panels. On the back is a somewhat padded leather like material that gives the mod a really comfortable hand feel.







The single 18650 battery that powers the Q80 is loaded from the bottom via a hinged door. The battery polarity is marked – on the underside of the door and is marked + on the positive gold contact inside the battery opening. The battery door does have an arrow marked on it to show you the direction to open it.

The pod opening on the mod has an outer metal ring that is held in place by two screws. Underneath that are the two spring loaded gold contacts that meet up with the coil in the pod to transfer power to the coil. Pretty standard stuff when it comes to pod mods.






The front of the mod is a little different from what I am used to see from Lost Vape when they are using the Quest 2.0 chip. There is a fairly large square fire button at the top followed by the color display, two (not three) adjustment buttons and the USB-C charging port near the bottom. The display shows the following information.

• Coil resistance and battery level indicator
• Power mode
• Set wattage
• Length of time of current puff and Puff counter
• Display color indicator

Yes, you can change the color of the display. The button operation of the mod is not covered in depth in the user manual. I just started trying different button combinations. The ones I P

• Press the fire button 5x to turn the mod on/off
• Press the = and – buttons to lock the adjustment buttons but it will still fire
• Press the fire an + buttons to change the display color
• Press the fire and – buttons to clear the puff counter

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I know I mentioned it before but I love the blue on the Q80. Overall I have enjoyed testing the Q80. I’m glad that they went with a 5.5ml capacity on the pod since it is a bottom fill. I feel like there is plenty of room on the top of the pod with as large in diameter as it is that they could have made it a top fill. That being said, the pod with the included coils does perform very well. I didn’t have any leaking during my time testing either of the coils and saw no noticeable condensation.

The Q80 is a really simplified device compared to other Lost Vape devices that use the same Quest 2.0 chip. I kind of miss the third menu button but there is something to be said for simplicity and ease of use. I do feel like the airflow control ring should have been made to stick out a little more or something to make it easier to adjust.

I noticed in the specifications that it only has a maximum output voltage of 4V. This tells me that it doesn’t have any kind of boost circuit. I’m not sure if that’s really a concern with this one since it’s only designed to be used with the UB Ultra pod and Ultra coils. Just something that I noticed.

Overall, I think the Lost Vape Centaurus Q80 kit is a pretty nice device. Like just about any kit that I receive, there are a few changes I would make if I was designing it but I’m not the one designing it so all I can do is point out features that I would like to see. So, would I recommend it for you? If you’re looking for a fairly compact pod mod that has plenty of airflow and uses drop in coils then I think I would. It has operated flawlessly for me.
