Hello and glad I found this forum. Okay, I am an antique. I am on my last KR808d-1 and I can't find any available. I started about 6 years ago with Smokeless Image and at least it got me off cigarettes. I used to like their NicQuid Soho but I found Halo Tribeca to be very close.
Here's my problem. As some of you may know the KR808d-1 is a very basic "sissy" ecig but I love it. I realize I won't be able to find it unless I go the China route which I really am not looking forward to. KKEMC sells them but they want me to pay with Western Union and then send them the order number. Sounds a bit off to me.
If I were to change to a new ecig - what is the simplest one that is about the size of a cigarette? I believe the KR808d-1 is 220 mah.
I also have a question about the numerous online places that sell ecigs in the states, I thought they couldn't send through the mail anymore. Could I be mistaken? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I smoked for over 40 years and I just can't go back, it has already done enough damage to my lungs.

I’m back today with another review for a Hellvape product. Hellvape has come out with one great tank after another since I’ve been writing reviews for them. It has been a real pleasure. This time I was sent the Hellvape Dead Rabbit M tank that was a collaboration between Hellvape and Vapers Brazil. I’m sure you’ve heard of the Dead Rabbit series of tanks by now. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the Dead Rabbit tanks that I have had the opportunity to test. I’m sure you’ve probably guessed it already but yes the M stands for mesh. I personally haven’t been a big fan of mesh tanks and have only tried a couple of them before. The Dead Rabbit M RTA has a 25mm base dimension and will hold 3ml of liquid with the straight glass and 4.5ml with the bubble tank section installed. As I’ve seen in the past from Hellvape, the M RTA comes with a lot of extras that can keep you vaping for a long time without having to buy any additional supplies. Let’s go ahead and take a look at it.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The packaging for the Hellvape Dead Rabbit M Tank comes in the usual red box with black writing that I’ve become accustomed to seeing from them. I like it. It really catches your attention. I also like that the front has the clear viewing window so you can see the device inside. On the front is the Dead Rabbit name and emblem with a large M in the upper right and M RTA under the name. The back of the box lists features, package contents, and company information. I don’t feel it’s necessary to show it but on the end of the box is a bar code and authenticity code. The sides of the box show a nice sketch of the tank and on the other side simply has the Dead Rabbit M RTA name on it.





Once the box top is removed then the tank is fully visible with the spare glass tank section both in a foam insert. All of the instructions and accessories are underneath the foam insert. As usual with Hellvape tanks, there are a lot of accessories. They include four mesh strips and cotton threads, o rings, combination screwdriver and coil shaping tool, user manual, and bubble glass.





It was nice of Hellvape to send two samples for the review. This allowed me to test one tank with straight glass and one type of coil while testing a second tank with bubble glass and a different coil at the same time. There were two each of the KA1 and 316SS coils included.



As always, clean your tank before using it. As you can see below, the M Tank can be fully disassembled for cleaning. The drip tip is a standard short 810 drip tip that can be replaced by your favorite if you like. This tank is a top airflow tank and as you can see the airflow control ring can be removed but also has notches that make it have a positive stop when adjusting it. This tank offers a lot of airflow and found myself running it with the airflow about ¼ open at 45 watts.

The top cap has an internal o ring to hold the drip tip in place and is a bayonet style so only requires a ¼ turn to install or remove it. The tank comes with the straight glass pre-installed which allows 3ml liquid capacity but there is a bubble glass included that will allow 4.5ml of liquid. I really like the looks of the tank with the straight glass but this tank guzzles liquid so quickly changed to the bubble glass.

The M Tank was a collaboration between Hellvape and Vapers Brazil. There is the Vapers Brazil name and logo on one side of the chamber while the Dead Rabbit is on the other side. The M Tank has two fairly large fill ports and thankfully it doesn’t have a gasket over the fill ports. There is an o ring on the bottom of the top cap that helps to seal the tank. I noticed on my blue one that the top cap is very tight and a little hard to turn. I’m sure a little VG on that o ring would help.





If you’ve used a mesh tank before then the deck on the M Tank should look a little familiar. I myself have only ever used two other mesh tanks before. I just didn’t stick with them long term. There is a phillips head screw on each side that loosens the spring loaded clamps so you can insert your mesh coil once you shape it using the combination coil tool/screwdriver. It’s actually a nice little tool that you may want to use on other tanks also. In the center between the two clamps is a spring loaded ceramic piece that holds the cotton tight against the mesh coil. If it doesn’t then you will get dry burnt hits. On the blue one I received, I had some trouble with wicking. My first attempt was my own fault for thinning the tails too much and the deck was flooding, On my second try I was getting dry hits with little flavor. When I removed the wick, I saw that the ceramic center piece was stuck tilted down on one side so believe it wasn’t holding the cotton against the coil tight enough. On my third attempt, I used a cotton thread that I had from another mesh tank that was fatter than the included ones and it worked very well. After that the flavor and vapor production was fantastic. Although there is a little variation on the wattage ranges of the coils, I was able to run both coils in the 45-48 watt range comfortably.













The inside of the chamber has honeycomb airflow holes which I am a fan of. Normally I would expect the honeycomb on the outside of an rda so was surprised to see it inside this tank.




I almost forgot to mention that if you decide to try the Dead Rabbit M RTA and need more building supplies then they are available from Hellvape. They were nice enough to send me some with my review samples.


FINAL THOUGHTS:

Although I struggled a little in the beginning with the blue (my favorite color) M tank, once I got the wicking right then it performed very well. I didn’t have the same issue with the second tank that I received for the review.

I like that the airflow control is knurled to make it easier to grip. I also like that the M tank is top airflow. That way you don’t have to worry about leaking. However, if you thin the tails too much like I did on my first attempt then the deck will flood. This holds true with just about any tank. The wicking has to be right. To me, mesh tanks are a little pickier but once you get it right then you are rewarded with very good flavor production.

I really don’t care much for the short wide bore drip tips that come with a lot of tanks and rdas these days. I always try tanks with the included tip but most times go ahead and switch them out with a tip that is a little taller. One problem with those tips is if you have the wattage turned up then you can feel the heat from the top of the tank if you chain vape much. I didn’t really notice a heat buildup on this tank so the stock tip should be fine if you like this style. In general, I think that mesh tanks tend to run a little cooler simply because of the wattage range of the mesh coil strips.

A word of warning, don’t unscrew the phillips head screws all the way. There is a spring over the screw which holds the post plate. I made that mistake and struggled a little to get the screw and plate back into the correct position. When inserting the mesh coil, you don’t need a large opening since the mesh is pretty thin. Supposedly you can also use a regular round wire coil instead of the included mesh strips. I didn’t try a standard coil since I felt it is promoted as a mesh tank and should be tested that way for the review.

So, would I recommend the Hellvape Dead Rabbit M RTA? If you like a little bit cooler vape and are a fan of the crisp flavor that mesh tanks give then yes I definitely would. Out of the few I have tried, this one I think performed the best and with it being top airflow that is a definite plus in my book.

In this review, I hope to give you some valuable information regarding said RTA as well as some promotional images and then I will get to my own unboxing, assembly and usage. Unboxing, Assembly and Usage Highlights



The packaging is very nice. I love the nod to the old parchment paper and the ink splosh across the front of the box. Goes very well with the Dragon theme. Speaking of, you can see the little claws on the RTA. Very cool!
On the front of the box is al the branding, as well as a small sticker that notifies you of what colour RTA is included in the box. On the right side is more branding. The left side, top and bottom are all blank. The back of the box has, of course, more branding. It also shows the features of this RTA, Vapefly's social media channels, the address of Vapefly HQ, the Scratch and Check sticker and another sticker that has the UPC code (and in brackets has the colour of the device). Last but not least is a Warning to keep out of reach of children.

When sliding the paper cover off the box, you're shown “Vapefly" and the logo embossed in a gold colour. The box itself is black and textured. Besides that, there are no other markings on the box itself.
Opening the box shows you the RTA, as well as a spare glass. All the spare stuff and the coils and what not, are underneath in a small compartment.





As previously mentioned, underneath the RTA in another separate compartment is the manual, airflow control tutorial paper, a warranty card, a piece of paper with a QR code to redeem for 50 reward points with Vapefly and a piece of paper with all the airflow pins punched through (very well organized!). Of course, there's also the baggies with the spare o-rings, spare screws, tools (tri-tool AND an allen key), a 810 to 510 drip tip adapter and the coils and cotton.

To start, I took the RTA apart and cleaned everything with a mild dishsoap and an old toothbrush. I can't stress enough how important it is to clean you tanks before use. You never know if there's small pieces of metal that flaked off during the machining process as well as using the soap to remove any residual machining oil that may be left on the device. You definitely don't want to inhale metal shards and machine oil.



After making sure everything is adequately dry, I moved onto the building stage. I took one of the coils that was provided and fit it in the slots (after unscrewing the grub screws of course) and positioned it to my liking and tightened the grub screws. They I took my clips and clipped the excess length on the legs of the coil. Next I dry burned and scraped at the coil with my ceramic tweezers until it glowed evenly from the inside to the outside. Also made sure there were no hot spots. Then I took one of the pieces of cotton that was provided in the box and slipped it through the middle of the coil. I made sure that there was enough friction that the coil wouldn't just slip through quickly and with very little effort, you want there to be a decent amount of force. If the cotton is too loose, you'll get spitting and the such. Too tight and it wont wick properly. RTA's are a balancing act when it comes to wicking. After the cotton was in the coil, I slathered the cotton with my favourite e-liquid flavour, then pressed the button to see the vapour come off the coil. Lastly, I put the RTA back together and filled the tank. Good to go!



After a little over a week using the Lindwurm RTA, the flavour is amazing! I love the airflow on this tank! I didn't use any of the included airflow pins as I prefer a more open DTL vape. The airflow is very airy, it doesn't feel super turbulent either. With it fully open, it was pretty smooth. I didn't have any negative issues with this RTA either, so I don't have much else to report in the way of usage. There also wasn't any leaking. All in all, I'm VERY impressed with this RTA.

If you like DTL vaping, full bodied flavours, easy wicking and easy building as well as top filling, then this RTA is for you! If any of those things I mentioned relates to you, consider picking this device up as I doubt you'll be disappointed.

► Voopoo Argus MT & Argus XT; Introduction:
VooPoo sent me two new devices well in advance of their presentation date, they are MT and XT which represent the next generation of the long series of Argus devices produced so far.

Argus MT is powered by an integrated 3000 mAh cell, while Argus XT is compatible with a single 21700 or 18650 battery. The GENE.TT 2.0 chip allows both to reach a maximum power of 100W with a very stable output in the four different modes. available (Smart, RBA, Turbo and TC). MT and XT boast an IP68 rating that is capable of withstanding dust, shock and fresh water immersion for up to 30 minutes. The charging socket for both is 5V / 3A high speed Type-C.

It seems very evident to me that Argus MT & Argus XT with their refined appearance and their qualities of extreme robustness are the worthy descendants of the mighty Argus GT 2. Among all of them there are many shared technical aspects and all versions use the new Maat Tank with exclusive anti-condensation and anti-leakage "Volcano Crater" design.



► Voopoo Argus MT & Argus XT; Screen, QS, and control keys:
On the front of Argus XT, above the screen, we find a valuable three-way quick switching system (QS), the lever activates QS is robust and entirely made of metal. By placing the lever in the center, you get the lock / unlock of the adjustments and you can vape. With the lever positioned to the right, you lock the settings and you can vape without the danger of changing the settings by inadvertently touching the buttons. Finally with the lever positioned on the left, you get the total block of the device. On Argus MT the QS switching system is positioned below the screen and works in the same way as Argus GT 2, in fact the QS has only two ways, you can then lock the mod completely or unlock it for adjustments.

Between MT and XT there is another small difference and it is the arrangement of the adjustment keys "+ and -", both Mods adopt a rocker under the screen, but on MT the rocker is horizontal and on XT it is vertical. One of the features of making a device compatible with the IP68 format is to coat the charging port and in fact VooPoo used a metal door to protect its fast 3A USB. This solution with an opening metal door is really solid and very beautiful, even if it is slightly wobbly, sometimes touching it with your fingers generates noise.

On the front, the differences between MT and XT are over, so the power button (Fire) is the same for both models. The Fire key sits high above the screen and is made of metal with a round shaped central notch that is very ergonomic and welcoming to the fingertips. The Fire key is robust and precise, without imperfections. Even the screen unites MT and XT and it is a colored unit, centrally arranged and which shows all the useful information for vaper's.



► Voopoo Argus MT & Argus XT; Side and back view:
VooPoo sent me Argus MT in Pearl White and Argus XT in Silver Gray for this test. Both colors are very beautiful and special. On XT there is a rather varied chromatic mix; the silver of the frame and the shiny chrome part of the grille match well with the soft antique green leather insert that has shades of gray. The coloring of MT is less complex, in fact it is completely white, but no less interesting. On MT the metal parts are shiny and satin, while the soft decorative insert of the handle is slightly more opaque. The shapes of MT and XT offer excellent grip thanks to the upper / lower edges that are protruding and create a recess in the center, in the handle area, for an optimal ergonomic result and for a comfortable grip. The decorative lettering on MT and XT is represented by a sober vertical "Gene TT" marking found at the bottom on one side of the mod, and an eye-catching "ARGUS MT" or "ARGUS XT" lettering which is imprinted on the leather handle by VooPoo, through hot branding.





► Voopoo Argus MT & Argus XT; Thread 510:
The 510 plate of Argus MT and XT has a hexagonal design that is well connected to the frame by shrinking upwards, this to accommodate the Maat Tank in the best possible way and without leaving empty spaces around. The floating type pin is gold plated and the thread is smooth and smooth when screwing / unscrewing the tank. ► Voopoo Argus MT & Argus XT; Battery compartment:
Argus MT has the lower base covered with a gray layer of soft silicone, on the base in the center there is a vent hole and various information regarding the integrated 3,000mAh battery that is present inside the mod. These writings on the bottom of MT are unfortunately very difficult to photograph. The bottom base of Argus XT is very different, and has a slide button to be able to lift the lid and to insert an external battery into the mod.



► Voopoo Argus XT; 18650/21700 batteries:

The convex glass allows an e-liquid capacity in keeping with the high performance of a tank designed for RDL / DL use like this one. The Top-Cap maintains the same design and the same diameter as the AFC ring. To refill the New Maat Tank with e-liquid, a 1/4 turn of the Top-Cap is sufficient and through two slots protected by as many silicone membranes it is possible to insert up to 6.5ml of e-liquid.



► VooPoo New Maat Tank; Exploded view:
Maat Tank is basically composed of 5 separable elements to allow easy cleaning operations. The Top cap can accommodate any 810 type drip-tip, however I never thought about replacing the original Drip-Tip as it looks really nice and well done. The original 810 drip-tip is equipped with two sealing o'ring and has a beautiful mechanical processing to better dissipate the heat. The coils are inserted under pressure from below and absorb e-liquid through the large slits that are obtained on the one-piece central structure of Maat Tank. The threaded thread of the Tank contains an isolated pin, gold plated and not very protruding, the pin transfers energy to three gold plated contacts inside the AFC Base or if you prefer call it "back". These three contacts in turn transfer the electrical impulses coming from the Mod to the TPP Coil.



► VooPoo Maat Tank; AFC:
The air flow is managed by a new AFC adjustment system which is adjusted by means of two sturdy metal fins on the two fake slots inside the large knurls of Maat Tank. Through these fins you can adjust two huge opposing slots for the flow of air towards the TPP Coil and without having to turn any ring. At the maximum opening of the AFC a very high air flow is obtained, however this AFC system can manage very well even a rather narrow type of Puff and more charged than Hit (for those who want it). The suction noise of the new Maat Tank is always civilized and contained with both the supplied coils and with all the different selectable degrees of AFC opening. Overall I like the New Maat Tank, plus it's very functional and reliable.



► VooPoo; TPP Coils:
The TPP Coils present in the Argus MT and Argus XT packages use the "Mesh" technology and are equipped with large windows for a large absorption of liquid. In the photo below you can see the range of TPP coils available in the VooPoo catalog.

• Coil TPP-DM1, 0.15Ω 60-80W:
With the Smart mode this coil is activated at 65W, the activation is fast and powerful with an impressive aroma load and with an excellent production of dense vapor. My liquid "crispy puft" with the Maat Tank and with this coil comes out very enjoyable and velvety, extreme in its creamy sweetness, really good. Really not bad considering that Maat Tank is not a regenerable Tank! My ideal setting with Argus XT and 21700 cell is with maximum AFC aperture and 65W of power selected.

• Coil TPP-DM2, 0.2Ω 40-60W:
With the Smart mode this coil is activated at 50w, and compared to the previous one the aromatic yield is just as excellent, this Coil allows you to use less battery energy for a much higher charge autonomy than using the 0.15Ω TPP-DM1 . With AFC aperture at about 50% and with a selected power of 55W I found my weak point with this Coil, the coil is suitable for both MT & XT devices.

• Coil TPP-DM4 0.3Ω 32-40W:
With the Smart mode this coil is activated at 35W and if you are thinking that 35W is too low a power for lung vaping, you are blatantly wrong! With this resistance the activation is immediate, with a large production of steam. Of course the steam is not as hot as in the previous resistances, and with the AFC completely open the flavor is a little too diluted. By closing down to 1/3 the AFC you could really find your perfect RDL vape! With this adjustment I found my weak point, the heat and hit increase and the restricted airflow improves the perception of flavor. This setting with my creamy liquid "Hypnos by TOB" made me fall in love with this Coil.

To make the most of these TPP Super Coils, I would advise you to stick to the wattages indicated by VooPoo or to use the SMART mode to avoid mistakes. TPP Coils offer a powerful, very greasy and moist type of Puff, but remember that vaping at too low wattages runs the risk that the coils will not vaporize the liquid in the correct way, creating a supercharging effect.

In principle, I find the TPP Coils better than the previous ones and excellent PnPs. The TPP Coils on this massive NEW Maat Tank offer greater performance but also greater durability, the large breathability holes ensure a very constant supply to the cotton. The Tank dissipates and disposes of heat well. You just have to enjoy your liquids to the full.



► Voopoo Argus MT & Argus XT; Operation Guide:
• Turn the device on / off: Press the power button five times quickly.
• Quick Start Lock: Move the lock switch right / left to enable / disable the lock function, the display will indicate the lock / unlock status. Enabling the lock function will invalidate other adjustment operations except turning the power on and off.
• Setting interface: Press "+" and "-" keys simultaneously to enter the setting interface. Use the "+" and "-" keys to select the setting options, and press the power button to confirm.
• Multi-Operation mode settings: After entering the setting interface, select the "Mode" option, and select the mode of
operation of the device in the sub-interface.
• SMART: This mode of use is able to automatically set the best power for the Coil and prevent the Coil from burning due to an excessive power setting.
• RBA: User defined power adjustable from 5W to 100W
• TURBO: More in line with the habits of the most avid vaper's, with power defined by users and adjustable from 5W to 100W.
• TC: Supports three types of wire: Ni, Ti, SS, the temperature is adjustable between 200-600 ° F and between 100-315 ° C
• M1, M2, M3: Press the power button and the "+" button at the same time to save the current heating wire material, power and temperature. Press the power button 3 times, the power will flash, then press the "+" 0 "-" buttons to adjust the power from 5W to 80W.

► Voopoo Argus MT & Argus XT; Final conclusions:
The promotional slogan of VooPoo "Solid As Argus" leaves free interpretation, but in my opinion it sums up well the IP68 characteristics of MT and XT to meet the real needs of cloud hunters who want to live outdoors, in all environments and conditions of use more extreme and without fear of damaging their devices. Argus MT & Argus XT designers focused on developing a strong IP68 structure, selecting a high strength double layer metal shell. After thousands of tests on the entire project, the structure would have achieved its intended purpose which was to create Argus devices as durable and resistant as volcanoes.

The upgraded GENE TT 2.0 chipset, ensures stable output up to the maximum power of 100W and supports Smart, RBA, TURBO and TC modes. Smart mode we all know how useful it can be in case of distractions. The RBA mode supports the user in customizing the preferred power between 5 and 100w even with regenerable tanks. Triple memory mode for TC can record previously set values. The new TURBO function is the mode that can maximize the release of vapor by the TPP-Coils with the greatest possible aroma load, certainly the latter represents the choice of vape more in line with the habits of users who use lung tanks.

These new devices are equipped with a 3A type C fast charging interface which is hidden and protected from various infiltrations by a metal flap. With the Type-C fast charging function, Argus XT and Argus MT increase the speed by at least 30% while maintaining a safe and stable current in the device. Personally with XT I recharge the batteries with an external charger, but for MT I find this charging protocol very useful. In addition, real-time BMS protection is active on the MT's 3,000mAh internal battery. The BMS thermal sensor monitors the temperature and cuts off the power supply for 30s when 60 ° C is reached, keeping the device and the user safe. * I recommend using the supplied cable and adapters marked with 5V == 3A or with USB 3.0 interface.

New Maat Tank is able to maximize the air flow, with the best possible channeling towards the Coil. The design study also concerned the drainage of any e-liquid leaks not through the AFC slots but through a planned containment inside the cup. These tests below only note my personal ESTIMATED ratings for the batteries I tested at the time I tested them. Any battery that is not a genuine Samsung, Sony, Murata, LG, Panasonic, Molicel, or Sanyo can change at any time! This can be one of the hazards of using “rewrapped” or batteries from other manufacturers so carefully research any battery you are considering using before purchasing.

Misusing or mishandling lithium-ion batteries can pose a SERIOUS RISK of property damage, personal injury, or even death. Never use them outside of a fully protected battery pack and you use them at your own risk. Never exceed the battery’s true continuous discharge rating (CDR), never let it get colder than 0°C or hotter than 60°C, and keep the plastic wrap and top insulating ring in perfect condition. Never use a battery that is physically damaged in any way.

Testing batteries at their limits is dangerous and should never be attempted by anyone who has not thoroughly studied the dangers involved, understands the risks, has the proper equipment, and takes all appropriate safety precautions.

If the battery has only one current rating number, or if it only says "max", then I have to assume the battery is rated at that current level for any type of discharge, including continuous.




Test Results
A decent performer for up to about 20A or so. Its “max continuous discharge” rating is ridiculous though as the cell reaches 95°C when discharged at 35A. The datasheet lists the max temperature for this cell as 75°C which it would reach at a little over 20A.

At 10A this cell equals the Lishen LA/SA/SD/SF and Molicel M50A. At 20A it equals the Samsung 40T3. At 30A it does not perform well due to voltage sag. I recommend staying at around 20A or lower. The Molicel P42A and P45B and the Samsung 50S outperform this cell at all current levels.

One of the cells had a lot of rust on it, a sign of incorrect storage IMO. These cells were sent by Imren, or a distributor they contacted, so I will definitely be discussing this problem with them. This rust isn’t necessarily dangerous (unless obviously eating through the can) but it’s a sign of excessive moisture during storage in my opinion. This is not good for the cell.

There are some big problems with the datasheet Imren sent me for this cell. The wrap on the cell says it’s rated 35A but the datasheet shows a 40A max continuous current rating.

The datasheet also lists a ridiculous 2-second “pulse discharge current” rating of 80A! This would instantly cause the cell voltage to sag down to a uselessly low level.

Two cells tested out to 4101mAh and 4129mAh so both exceeded their 4000mAh rating. I have not tested the cycle life of these cells.
