FIRST IMPRESSIONS


As far as packaging goes Smok did a nice job with kit presentation having a box inside a outer sleeve with all components resting in individual foam cut outs. I'm familiar with the TFV18 Mini tank from previous reviews so no surprises there, I was sent the Black color kit and it's a matt Black which means no fingerprints.

The R Kiss 2 is a very lightweight dual 18650 battery device without batteries installed and still remains fairly lightweight when batteries are installed, dimples cover the entire device except for 3 locations ( top plate, firebar and bottom battery door ). The dimple texture has somewhat of a rubber feel to it and aides in the devices grip for a no slip feel in the hand.

I was glad to see the R Kiss 2 still used a firebar as the original does because on a full sized box mod a firebar makes using the device effortless.

The kit comes with a 2nd mesh coil that's a dual mesh 0.15Ω rated for between 80-100 watts and a best setting of 90W, pre-installed is the single core 0.33 mesh coil rated for between 80-140 watts with a best setting of 100-110w, ( these coils are hungry for power ). Also included is a spare bubble glass, spare O-rings, charge cord, user manual, warranty card and battery safety card.

TFV18 MINI TANK


I'm so glad that SMOK decided to shrink down the TFV18 Tank to a much better size, the original was too tall of a tank in my opinion, you do loose some capacity but 6.5ml is plenty. Since it's introduction it has become a Tank that I use on a regular basis from time to time between other reviews because the coils perform very well with very good flavor and vapor.

One thing I need to point out is that the drip tip is a sleeve type which if you loose it your SOL unless you have another drip tip of this type or you can purchase a new one from SMOK. Normally I prefer a straight glass tube over a bubble glass but the TFV18 Mini is only bubble glass of which you receive 2. On the Mini the bubble looks good and is size appropriate for the device making a very attractive combination of the two.

The TFV18 Mini uses a push button to release and unlock the top cap that can then be swung out counter clockwise for juice filling, a open sign with a arrow is printed on the top cap. The fill port is large enough to accommodate a 100ml bottle tip or glass dripper without removing the drip tip . There is plenty of airflow for all you air lovers because of the triple airflow slots that have hard stops, this is a very airy tank and I had to close the airflow down to halfway or 1/4 open to get a RDL vape.


I have never had a accidental opening when carried in a pocket, the top cap locks closed very securely and closes with a click that can be easily heard. Both coils perform well with the 0.33Ω being a air machine that produces thick clouds, I found it a little too airy for my taste even though it can be closed down for a nice RDL vape, I prefer the 0.15Ω dual coil. The coils are screwed into the base then the base screws onto the the tank.







The 510 connection appears to be screwed into the top plate with 3 screws and feels very secure with no wobble or give to it, the 510 is spring loaded and has a very long amount of travel fitting every atomizer I tried on it. The top plate is connected to the device using 4 screws that recess for a nice countersink look, you can attach up to a 30mm atomizer before overhang of the sides develop.





The 2 18650 batteries are installed from the bottom of the device via a trap door that we see on many devices, doing a bang on the desk test many times to see if the door would open proved it's solid with no unintentional opening of the door ( SOLID AND SECURE ).





Opening the door reveals correct polarity marked on the door in white with a plus ( + ) for battery A and a minus ( - ) symbol for battery B, also inside the battery tubes a Red plus and Blue minus symbol at the end can be easily seen.





Being a lightweight and compact device along with the dimples make holding it in the hand very comfortable, Smoke even recessed the front and back corners for a even better hand fit with all corners being rounded off as well.







The whole left side of the front facing device is the firebar that can be activated with a simple press or squeeze of the hand, I'm a sucker for firebars because it's the simplest way to vape other than a auto-draw feature. The firebar can be activated from the top to about 3/4 of the way down, below that it doesn't activate .





POWER MODES - ( WATTAGE - BYPASS )


This is a wattage only device that has 2 power modes consisting of Wattage or Bypass, no T/C mode. There is plenty of power with a max wattage of 200 watts and a voltage range that has a max of 8.2 volts. In wattage mode it takes some time to reach the maximum wattage of 200 watts because it adjust in 1 watt increments, round robin feature is included within the device.

I urge you to use cation when using the Bypass mode with the TFV18 Tank and it's coils because it hits very FAST and HARD, I would avoid using the Bypass mode when using the supplied tank and coils, you will burn the coils out very fast ( YOU'VE BEEN WARNED ).

FINAL IMPRESSIONS AFTER USING


First off I hope you listen to me and not use the Bypass mode with the TFV18 Mini Tank and it's coils, they will burn out fast because of the 8.2 volts being applied. As far as the coils go I am no stranger to them and think they perform very well with very good flavor and vapor, the 0.33 coil will fog a room up in no time with it's massive airflow. Airflow is very loud but smooth at any setting tried. Both of these coils crave power!

The TFV18 Mini Tank is a solid performing tank and the swing out push button opening top cap works very well, on some tanks with this type of opening or a sliding top cap the drip tip must be removed in order to fill it using a 100ml bottle but not with the TFV18 Mini, the top cap swings out far enough to fill using the larger juice bottles.

As far as the mod goes I really like it for the size, weight, bright vivid colors with fonts that are easily read. I'm a huge firebar lover and this firebar works great always firing for another plus of the device. Being able to fit a 30mm atomizer without overhang is another plus on the list. I noticed the batteries deplete unevenly on the screen but even out at the end of their cycle so no big deal.

I have enjoyed using and testing out the Smok R Kiss Kit and plan on using it even as this review is finished because I consider it a WINNER! I’m glad to be back today with yet another review for Hellvape. I know it may get a little confusing with all of the Dead Rabbit and Fat Rabbit rdas and rtas available from Hellvape but I’m here today to talk about yet another RDA called the Dead Rabbit Max Rda. The first thing that sets this apart from previous rdas that I’ve reviewed from them is that this one has a 28mm base. Thus the Max name. This is designed to be a dual coil rda with the dual post build deck. The rabbit ear posts are elevated enough that you can trim the coil legs underneath if you have the right cutters. I have seen a lot of rdas lately with honeycomb airflow design but this one is different where it has two X shaped cutouts on each side that bring airflow hitting the sides of the coils. One other thing that is different on this one is that it is the deepest juice well that I’ve seen on an rda at 7mm in depth. It does include a BF pin for squonking if you so choose to install it.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The packaging for the Hellvape Dead Rabbit Max is the usual red box with black writing that I have become accustomed to seeing from them. On the front is the Hellvape name with a clear window that the rda can be seen through along with the Dead Rabbit logo, the Max name, and 28mm indicating that the base is 28mm in diameter. On the top edge is the slogan “evoke your vaping genius”. The back side of the box has the usual features, package contents list and company information.

Most of the Hellvape tanks I’ve reviewed have come with plenty of accessories to get the user started and this one is no different. Besides the rda itself, included in the contents are two coils, two cotton threads, extra grub screws and o rings, screwdriver for posts, allen wrench to install the included BF squonk pin, coil measuring tool, and user manual.



As usual, the first thing I do when I get a new tank is clean it. I had not seen the Max RDA anywhere before receiving it so wasn’t exactly sure how it came apart due to the precision machining of this rda. I knew that there would be airflow adjustment so there had to be an inner and outer barrel assembly. It was a very tight fit but was able to get it apart for cleaning.

As you can see above, I received the gold version. Wouldn’t have been my first choice but it’s nice none the less. The 810 drip tip has no o rings on it as the o ring is inside the top cap. The outer barrel has two rabbit ears engraved in it on each side with two X openings that represent the eyes and are also the airflow control openings. This is a bit different from the previous rdas I’ve reviewed and was concerned that I would not be able to properly adjust the airflow where I would like it due to becoming used to the honeycomb airflow design that I have become fond of. I was pleased though to find that I liked the airflow set with one X open and one closed for a slightly restricted DTL at 55-60 watts with the included coils. The airflow hits the coils horizontally and goes up to the top. The deck posts are rounded to help minimize airflow turbulence just like the Dead Rabbit 3 did. I found the airflow adjustment to be slightly difficult due to how tight the cap is. You can see in the second picture below that there are notches inside the inner barrel assembly that allow it to lock onto the base.





Now on to the build deck. Not only is this the largest build deck in the Dead Rabbit series that I am aware of at 28mm but also has a 7mm deep juice well which allows more vaping time between having to drip or squonk. It’s almost to the point of having a reservoir like an rdta. The posts are raised and rounded to help smooth out airflow compared to a square post design. The grub screws are slotted and really a nice size compared to some I’ve seen which makes it that much easier to see when building.



Normally I wouldn’t build this low but felt it was necessary to test the Max with the included coils. The included coils are .2 ohm Ni80 which brings the reading on my Thelema 200 to .11 ohms once installed. Normally I’d use a couple .4 ohm coils to come out around .2 ohms for a final result. The coils were very easy to install, straighten, and wick. I was able to use one of the included cotton threads to wick both coils.





You can see in the picture above that there are two o rings on the base that seal the deck once the barrel is installed. It makes a good seal. I probable cut my cotton a little long but wanted to make sure that it reached the bottom of the deep juice well. The bottom of the deck has the Hellvape logo and the Dead Rabbit Max RDA name. It comes with the standard 510 center pin that is gold plated. It uses the included allen wrench to remove it so the squonk pin can be installed. I chose not to install the squonk pin on this one since the juice well was so deep. I wanted to see how long I could go without dripping. I probably don’t run the output as high as some do but found that I was able to take several puffs without having to drip while set at 57 watts.

Overall I was rather pleased with the ease of use and flavor/vapor production from the Hellvape Dead Rabbit Max. Having received the gold version, the rabbit ears engraved in the sides of the outer barrel are a little difficult to see but there is no branding on the outside of the rda. I don’t know if it would have looked funny or not but kind of wish the outline of the ears had been highlighted in a different color.

I very much liked the ease of building on the deck due to the positioning of the posts and the size of the grub screws. I didn’t try it but you might be able to trim the coil legs after installing them into the deck if you have a skinny set of cutters. The deep juice well will be a much appreciated feature by those that choose to drip.

Some might ask if they already have the Dead Rabbit 3 if this one is worth getting or if the flavor is better. I don’t think it’s necessarily better in the flavor department but seems about as good but it’s different due to the different design of the airflow using the two X openings instead of the honeycomb airflow of the DR3.

So, would I recommend the Dead Rabbit Max for you? Well, if you like large dual coil rdas that provide pretty darn good flavor and large amounts of vapor then this would be a good fit for you. Build - Single Coil

Coil

5/6 wrap 4mm ID Coil, recommended leg length 6mm






Position

Try and keep the top of the coil inline or just below the top of the side air posts. The coil can be positioned centrally which should provide a more restricted vape or the coil can be positioned to one side next to the air post to provide a less restricted vape.











Dry Burn

Set at a low power pulse fire the coil to check for any hot spots, if present, gently strum the coil with ceramic tweezers this should remove the hotspots and the coil should slowly glow from the middle wrap outwards. If strumming with metal tweezers or a coiling rod ensure the coil is not being pulse fired at the same time.

Wicking

Thread the wick through the coil, it doesn’t need to be tight but should fill out the inside of the coil, cut the wick tails a little bit past the deck sides. Fluff the wick ends at either side and guide them into the wicking channels. The ends of the wick should pass through the wicking channels and just reach the base underneath. It doesn’t have to be perfect as the Blotto Max is a very forgiving RTA.









Priming
Apply a small amount of juice to the wick ends above and below the wicking channels, repeat a few times until the tails are suitably soaked. Apply juice to the top of the coil and slowly pulse the coil to suck it in, again repeat a few time until suitably soaked.





Assemble the tank, fill it up and enjoy.


Build - Dual Coil

Coil

5 wrap 3mm ID Coils, recommended leg length 4~5mm

Position

Similar to the Single coil build, try and keep the top of the coil inline or just below the top of the side air posts. The coil can be positioned close to each other which should provide a more restricted vape or the coil can be positioned to the sides next to the air posts to give a larger gap in the centre which will provide a slightly less restricted vape.

As previously stated, the Blotto Max is such a forgiving RTA and when using quality coils it is a breeze to build on.









Dry burn

Make sure the coils are not touching each other or touching any part of the deck and 272° airflow posts.

As with the single build set at a low power pulse fire the coils to check for any hot spots, if present, gently strum and pinch the coils with ceramic tweezers this should remove the hotspots and the coils should both slowly glow from the middle wraps outward equally. If strumming and pinching with metal tweezers ensure the coils are not being pulse fired at the same time.

Both coils should be glowing evenly and together.

Wicking

Wick the same way as the single coil build, however this time some gentle raking is probably going to be needed to thin out the wick ends a bit. The wicking into the channels can be quite loose but it needs to be fluffy enough to fill all of the channels, too loose and leaking could be a result.







Priming

Follow the same process as with the single coil build.







Assemble the tank, fill it up and enjoy.

TIPS

If your new to RTA’s it’s probably a good idea to just ¼ fill to start off with, start off at a low power and slowly work it up to the desired vape. If you do find issues it’s then easier to dismantle and adjust, or if it’s leaking you’ll lose less juice.

I really want an Aegis Squonk but they seem to be discontinued, so can someone recommend something similar that is actually available somewhere. Accurate temp control is a requirement.

I am looking for an Aegis Squonk for my wife and nobody seems to have them in stock except this place. Looking over the page, the have no phone number or address listed anywhere, but based on currency and language options, seem to be in the UK. So I was wondering if anyone has ever dealt with them before OR might know some other place I could pick up an Aegis Squonk.

It's been about a week, I was wondering why any changes haven't taken place?

I bought my last batch of nicotine supplies before all the mailing mess became a thing. Unfortunately, I had to discard the nic salt/freebase I had in the freezer because it went bad.

Normally I mix down to 3mg 50/50 using a combination of Nic Salt and Freebase. Bit of a challenge finding suppliers in the USA. I prefer to mix in batches of 500 ml. Not sure on the calculations though and would appreciate some help.

I have 120 ml of 100mg VG Nic Salt and 120 ml of 100mg PG Freebase. My goal is to mix both to 3mg and store it in 15ml amber glass bottles. Hopefully it lasts longer than a year this time.

I have no idea how to calculate it because I've always bought PG Nic Salt and didn't notice I ordered VG. It's a major PITA to find supplies now, so it is what is is. The go to calculator I've used for years is over at .....................

Anybody know how to calculate it?

I have a mini Scally Wag squonker I purchased back in 2015. I never used it. This was at a time when I was going squonk-crazy and buying a bunch of wooden squonkers.
