Once again I welcome you to another kit review from Innokin. Many of you have at least one or more versions in the famed Kroma family of mods and kits, today's review is on Innokins latest Kroma called the 217 because it takes a single 21700, 20700 or a single 18650 battery with the supplied 18650 adapter that happens to be magnetized for easier placement inside the device. I need to mention this is a wattage/voltage device only and has no TC power modes. Along with the Kroma 217 the kit includes the new Z- Force tank that uses a new coil technology called duo prime wicking, 2 pieces of mesh 1 on the inside and 1 on the outside are in this new coil technology. There's a lot to cover in my review but first lets get to know the newest Kroma 217 Kit with the new Z-Force Tank.

FIRST IMPESSIONS
First thing right off the bat I want to thank Innokin for sending a box of 0.2 and 0.3 ZF coils along with the kits. My first impression of these kits was WOW, both of them are gorgeous and I really think the dark chrome tops of the mods add to there high end appearance. I have always been a fan of the Kroma devices and use 2 in my personal rotation of devices and or kits, I think the 217 kit is the best in the Kroma line as of todays date.
The Mariana Blue with it's brilliant brushed metal look that is darkened to a gunmetal color and the Blue pattern of swirls blend well together leaving no fingerprints, the engraving of INNOKIN on one side and KROMA 217 on the other give the mod even more flair in a angled look .
The River Wood has a Stabilized Wood look and sits in contrast to a matt Black colored mod that is fingerprint free as well, patterns on both devices look good. These covers are not a spongy leather but rather a sticker that is smooth to the touch. I've become quite fond of a leather spine on mods but the stickers look nice. For a single 21700 device it's compact and not much larger than some single 18650 devices, though not a lightweight it's not heavy.
The Kroma 217 Kit ships with the 0.2Ω mesh coil pre-installed in the new Z-Force tank, it's a good idea to pull the coil out and prime it and after reinstalling in the tank, fill the tank and let it sit for 5-10 minutes to fully saturate the coil with juice. I noticed these ZF coils fit very snug in the tank further reducing seeping or leaking and with the automatic juice flow gate both of those issues are gone with the Z-Force tank.
The Z-Force uses a gate as a juice flow control and it works very well closing off the juice flow when a coil is removed or absent in the tank, once the coil is installed the gate opens up allowing juice to flow to the coil. Having a juice flow control gate allows you to change a coil mess free with as much as a full tank of juice remaining in the tank. In the picture below the tank on the left has a ZF coil installed and you can clearly see the gate is open and the cotton of the coil is visible, the tank on the right has no coil in the tank and the gate is in the closed position waiting for a coil to be installed.
Airflows through 4 slots that don't have the traditional shape as most tanks do, you have infinite adjustment closing down the airflow control as much as you want. It starts to close the top side first then further adjustment after it's closed can be made to the 2 open slots. The Z-Force gives the user more than enough airflow wide open for a great DL vape and dialed down a bit it gives a great RDL vape, these new ZF coils produce very good flavor.
Filling the Z-Force is a breeze with it's sliding top cap that has a arrow between 2 tiny silver screws, no need to look for the arrow just press outward between the screws. I don't know if that was their intension or not but it's a nice shortcut. If however your juice is in a 100ml bottle the drip tip will need to be removed before filling.
As many manufacturers are doing Innokin uses a filling membrane that acts like a one way valve allowing you to insert your bottle tip in and then sealing itself back in place when the juice bottle tip is removed, this fill method of using a sealing membrane works great. The drip tips are comfortable to use and having matching O-rings is another plus to the kit as well.
Now that I've covered the Z-Force Tank it's time for the mod. Using a 21700 or 20700 battery the device has a maximum wattage output of 100w when using a 18650 battery with the supplied adapter it's maximum wattage output is 80w and the Kroma 217 also has the round robin feature. One very cool feature that I have never seen before is if you choose to use a 18650 battery the included adapter is magnetized and will hold the battery in place, correct polarity is marked with a + symbol on the end of the adapter.
Installing your battery is done via a battery door on the bottom of the device, an arrow on the door points you in the direction to slide it open, it has that same gunmetal color as the top of the device and is very reflective, those are not scratches on the door but a reflection of the wood it's laying on, 4 venting slots are also provided as a safety measure.
The battery door has some movement and play to it without a battery installed but when a battery is installed it's solid, you have the press up a little when sliding the door shut. I used a Molicell P-42A 21700, Sanyo NCR 20700B and a LG HG2 battery in the testing of both devices, no battery rattle happened using any of the 3 batteries I mentioned.
Correct polarity in clearly marked with a Red plus symbol inside the battery tube, a minus symbol is on the battery door and can be easily seen but I wish it was highlighted in white. The 18650 battery adapters with their correct polarity plus symbol is also shown.
The top of the Kroma 217 has that dark gunmetal chrome with the 510 plate being silver, not only do the cuts in the 510 plate look good but also serve a purpose making it able to be used with a atomizer that gets it's air supply from the 510. Being raised a tiny bit prevents scratches on the beautiful chrome top but don't crank your atomizer down because it's raised just a tiny bit.
We now come to the front portion of the device that has only 2 adjustment buttons at the bottom above the type-c charge port. You probably guessed by now the Kroma 217 has stayed with the firebar as other versions of it have, all of my Kroma's fire bars work very well with minimum effort to press. The 217 works just as well, by placing the spine or firebar in the crook of your hand a simple squeeze is all that's needed to fire the device.
The display is bright and vivid and has the information well laid out on the screen, the devices lay out is listed below from left to right and from up to down.

USING THE KROMA 217 KIT
As many of you know I'm a big fan of all the devices in the Kroma family and I think the 217 is the best version so far coupled with the new Z-Force tank. The 217 has all the Kroma designs but takes a 21700 battery and gives you the option to use 20700 or 18650 batteries as well.
Firebar tension remains great and the bright and vivid display screen with font sizes that are easy to read add to the many pluses of the 217. I have been using both Kroma 217's for a couple of weeks and in that time I never experienced a problem with the device not firing reading Ohm's wrong or anything. I like the use of the power mode Coil+ and have been using it mainly in the testing of this kit, coil life seems to be improved. The refresh is another feature I have been using and seems to do a good job extending the lifespan of the coil.
There are little things on this device that can be overlooked of forgotten about, like that the battery bar changes colors depending on the strength of the battery, that feature didn't have to included but Innokin did include it. Another thing that's pretty neat is that the supplied 18650 battery adapter is magnetized to hold your battery in place. ( I LOVE THIS DEVICE )
Moving on to the new Z-Force Tank I again have to congratulate Innokin on a job well done. I like the different cut style of the airflow slots although this may be why fully open it may seem a bit loud to some but it's fine to me and a lot quieter than many other tanks.
Having a slider top cap really makes the refilling process quick and easy unless filling with a 100ml chubby Gorilla because you will need to remove the drip tip in order for the bottle tip to pass through the fill membrane. Another plus that I like is the 2 silver screws on the top cap, instead of looking for the arrow to know where to slide the top cap just slide it in between the silver screws. (SAVES YOU FROM LOOKING FOR THE ARROW).
Having a fill membrane is another plus on the Z-Force, you can rest assured this is a mess free tank because of it acting like a one way valve allowing liquid in but sealing back up preventing any juice from escaping.
A automatic juice flow gate that automatically closes when a coil is removed is another very big plus on the tank, how many times has it happened to you that you just fill the tank completely and take a couple of vapes and find the coil is burnt or flavor is now gone from it, with the juice flow gate just pull the old coil out a replace with a new one without having to drain the tank of juice. This is a big time saver and convenient as well.
The new ZF coils for the Z-Force tank have been very good and after a couple weeks of use have begun to decline in the flavor department. The new technology of having a inner and outer piece of mesh seems to be working well because I've chain vaped both the 0.2Ω and the 0.3Ω coil many times and the coil just keeps up with the wicking, I haven't received a dry hit from either coil yet.
Flavor is good on both coils but the warmth of the 0.2Ω is more my style of vape, using the 0.3Ω coil greatly improved battery life because less wattage was needed.
The 0.2Ω coil is rated for 50-80w and for me 65w hit my sweet spot, I felt that I didn't need anymore wattage to achieve better flavor.
The 0.3Ω coil is rated for 30-45w and on this coil I needed the maximum wattage of 45w to get the vape that I liked and battery life was improved as well.
I have not had a leak or weeping of juice from either coil or tank in the time that I have been using them. Both of them wick extremely well and produce very good flavor.
So in closing I highly recommend the Kroma 217 and Z-Force Tank, both can be purchased separately if you wish but getting them as a kit I feel you can't go wrong, this kit is a winner.
