Oxva Vativ Super Mod Kit 6.jpg

► OXVA Vativ Super Mod 100W Kit; First impressions:
I received the Medusa & SS version of the Vativ Super Mod Kit for this test and I must say that I was favorably impressed by its gritty and flashy style. The shell is made entirely of metal, the "reptile skin" decorations may seem exaggerated, but to the touch and sight they are really pleasant and of quality. The design of Vativ is flat at the front with an oval profile towards the rear. The Display is a good size with bright fonts and various selectable background colors. The three selection buttons are circular in shape, protruding and easy to operate. Conveniently located and in the lower part of the front area there is the USB type-C socket.

Oxva Vativ Super Mod Kit 7.jpg

The side panels of Vativ Super Mod host at the top a logo with two "V" intertwined with each other, the logo is circular in shape and with a black background, its profile is in relief with respect to the body of the Mod. The cover of battery with its eye-catching decoration is entirely made of metal, the cover is well integrated into the Vativ Super Mod line with a precise and quality coupling to the frame. The magnetism is strong and the fit is perfect, the polarities are clearly marked inside the compartment / battery. The 18650 cell (not included) inserts and replaces with ease thanks to the wide and soft excursion of the top pin (-). Both positive (+) and negative (-) pins are gold plated for better conductivity.

Oxva Vativ Super Mod Kit 8.jpg

Oxva Vativ Super Mod Kit 9.jpg

As a whole, Vativ Mod is slim and slender, the weight of 125g does not affect the excellent portability qualities in the least, on the contrary this contributes to a pleasant overall feeling of extreme robustness.

VAPORESSO TARGET 200 DTL KIT review by hittman

It’s been a while since I have reviewed anything for VAPORESSO but am excited to be back with the new TARGET 200 kit that was sent to me by VAPORESSO for the purpose of providing a fair and honest review. The mod uses dual 18650 batteries and has a maximum output of 220 watts. I was surprised at how compact it was for a dual battery mod and it has a really nice hand feel with the water resistant braided material on the sides. The tank that comes with the kit is the new iTank that has an astounding liquid capacity of 8ml. It’s astounding to me anyway with most tanks I see that are 4-6ml capacity. The combination of the two make the TARGET 200 kit a very nice set up.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The packaging for the TARGET 200 kit was the usual outer sleeve that has a picture of the device on the front and the package contents on the back. I thought it was nice that they also included the specifications on the back also. That’s something that I don’t normally see. Once the box top was removed, I was a little impressed at how everything was laid out in the box and VAPORESSO even made the extra effort of putting a foam square over the tank to protect it during shipping.

upload_2021-12-5_10-31-13.png

upload_2021-12-5_10-31-30.png

I guess I’ll start at the top and work my way down on this one for a change of pace. Included in the kit is the new iTANK. This new tank holds a whopping 8ml of liquid. Even at that capacity it seemed like I emptied a tank fairly quick. That could have been because I was really enjoying the flavor produced by the GTI coils. The two coils included are the .2 and .4 ohm mesh coils. The .2 ohm coil is rated for 60-75 watts while the .4 ohm coil is rated for 50-60 watts. As is my usual routine, I ended up running the .2 ohm coil at 48 watts and the .4 ohm coil at 45 watts. I thought both coils produced very good flavor and really large amounts of vapor.

The tank has three air inlets to provide a very smooth airflow. I ran the airflow about half open most of the time and tried drawing through the tank without firing the mod and the airflow was very smooth and quiet.

upload_2021-12-5_10-32-16.png

upload_2021-12-5_10-33-29.png

The drip tip on the iTANK is replaceable as you would expect. It is for some reason a 510 tip. To fill the tank you just slide the top open to the side. There is a small mark on the top of the tank to show you where to push to open it for filling. This kind of reminded me of one or two other VAPORESSO tanks that I have tried. If I remember correctly those tanks you had to lift then slide the top. This new tank doesn’t have to have the top lifted. Just slide it open. There is a slitted gasket in the fill port opening. I’ve seen this on other tanks and am really undecided if I like it or not. It is nice to prevent spilling but if you use glass droppers to fill then it can get a little messy since the liquid on the outside of the dropper is stopped by the gasket.

upload_2021-12-5_10-34-12.png

upload_2021-12-5_10-34-31.png

Now let’s take a look at the TARGET 200 mod. On the front of the mod near the top is the fairly large fire button which I really like and find comfortable to use. Below that is the display screen which shows the following information.

- Set wattage

- Coil resistance

- Output voltage

- Puff counter

- Length of current puff

- Mode of operation

Below the display are the + and – buttons with the menu button below. Under the menu button is the USB-C charging port.

The button operation is as follows:

- Press the fire button five times to turn the device on/off

- Press the fire button three times to lock the adjustment buttons

- Press and hold the menu button to change modes then use the + and – buttons to scroll between F(t), Pulse, and Watts.

- Press the menu button three times to access the main menu where you will find:

1. F(t) Mode

2. Pul Mode

3. VWN Mode

4. DIY Mode

5. System Set

6. Exit

Inside each option there are different options that can be taken advantage of. I don’t really feel it’s necessary to list them all as it would very much lengthen this review and some people probably really don’t care.

upload_2021-12-5_10-38-22.png

The body of the TARGET 200 is a cage-like design with what I believe is a zinc alloy frame and mesh water resistant side panels. The cage design has assisted in making this unit fairly compact for a dual battery device. I find it very comfortable to hold and not too heavy even with two 18650 batteries installed. The only visible branding is on the back of the frame where the VAPORESSO name is stamped into the metal strip on the back. There is the Target 200 name on the bottom of the mod where the slide to open battery compartment is. The hinged door seems really solid and the underside is clearly marked with the battery polarity.

upload_2021-12-5_10-39-18.png

upload_2021-12-5_10-40-9.png

M80N7HP.jpg

The TARGET 200 has a raised plate on the top where the 510 connection is mounted with three torx screws. The top plate will only allow up to a 25mm tank base without any overhang. Of course the iTANK looks great on it but those that like larger tanks may complain about this one. I’m honestly not sure if this was done for aesthetics or if they just needed the extra room. You can see in the picture below that the surface was already marked after just having the tank on and off a few times.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I have to say that I have very much enjoyed testing the VAPORESSO TARGET 200 kit. It was rather refreshing to receive a DTL mod and tank for review in a market that has become one pod after another.

The AXON chip is in my opinion a very good performer. It fires quickly with what seems like no delay and has a plethora of user options. During my time testing it, I used it in the F(t) mode mostly. To me it seems like I get a little thicker or denser vapor in that mode. This isn’t anything new. Previous mods have had this function that I have reviewed before for VAPORESSO.

The new iTANK is in my opinion a very good DTL tank with three airflow inlets there is plenty of airflow for just about any user. It is also nice that it has an 8ml capacity which really helps with not having to refill as often because this tank can really go through some liquid.

I thought both included coils provided very good flavor and generous amounts of dense vapor. I ended up running both coils in the range of 45-50 watts which is below the rated wattage for these coils but with the airflow half open it was a very nice fit for me. Also, I didn’t get any kind of noise or whistle with the airflow on this tank which was nice.

About the only negative or con I could really think of with this kit is the raised 510 base that will only allow up to a 25mm base without overhang. Other than that, I can’t really think of anything else on the TARGET 200.

So, we’re here at the end again and you probably know the answer to this already but would I recommend it to you? If you’re looking for full blown DTL kit that performs well and gives great flavor then absolutely I would recommend it. Some may not like that it uses drop in coils but I got over 400 puffs on the .2 ohm coil and it was still working great when I switched to the .4 coil so I could test it for the review.

I’d like to thank VAPORESSO and Milo for sending the TARGET 200 kit for this review and thanks so much to the readers. You’ve done it. You made it to the end of another one of my reviews. As usual, there’s a link to the website below so you can investigate it further on your own.

The Freemax Marvos T Kit by Delores

Freemax sent me the Marvos T 80W kit for the purpose of this review.

box (3).png

This kit features the same Marvos DTL pod as the rest of this line, and a modestly sized single-button battery. When I say modest, I don’t mean underpowered. It has plenty of oomph for the coils.

In the box you get:

  • 1x Marvos T 80W Battery

  • 1x Marvos DTL 4.5ml Pod

  • 1x MS Mesh Coil 0.15ohm

  • 1x MS Mesh Coil 0.25ohm

  • 1x Type C Charging Cable

  • 1x Warranty Card

  • 1x Warning Card

  • 1x User Manual
in the box 3.png

The battery capacity is 3000mAh, which has been more than sufficient for me, even at the highest setting with the 0.15 coil. I’ve yet to run it completely down.

With a single button, it’s very simple to use. Click 5 times to turn on/off, click 3 times to adjust the power setting. The LED light on the fire button will light up red for soft power, blue for medium, and green for strong.

The output wattage is:

soft medium strong

0.15ohm: 60W 70W 80W

0.25ohm: 40W 50W 55W

The Type C charger allows the battery to fully charge in under 2 hours, and the LED will be red when the battery is at 0-33%, blue at 33-67%, and green at 67-100%.

mod 3.png

The LED will also indicate if any of the protections have been activated, flashing red 20 times for low voltage, 5 times for short circuit or low resistance, 10 times for time out/circuit protection, and 2 times for high temp protection.

There is a nice texture to the air flow ring, which has two large oval holes. It opens up nice and wide, closes down enough that you could do MTL, if that’s your thing, but it gets a little warm, IMHO, like that. The air is a wee bit whoosh-y but smooth.

The pod holds 4.5 mls and is filled through a bung on the bottom. So far, I have had no leaks, but I have had some condensation. The coil just pushes in, no threads. And the magnets seem to hold it in place fairly well, although this one does seem to occasionally not make contact as well as the other devices in the line. I’m not sure if it’s the pod or the battery, but I do find I need to fiddle with it once in a while.

mod top 3.png

(Top of the mod)

And the coils, well, I do love me some Freemax coils. Great flavor, long lasting, good choice of ohms that are suitable for this device. And TBH, I always prefer to build my own, but when I’m too busy to be bothered, it’s really nice to just drop one in.

pod 3.png

Overall, a great little kit. Is it beautiful? It’s not ugly, it’s nice, but I wouldn’t say beautiful. Will you drool over it? Will you lose sleep until you get one for yourself? I really doubt it. It’s a very basic, kind of plain Jane pod, but it’s very friendly to use, and it’s really grown on me. I love taking it out and about, knowing the juice and battery capacity will hold me over even if I’m out for longer than expected, and it’s reliable enough I haven’t needed a backup. And yet, small enough that it sits very easily in a pocket or on the table.

Freemax Marvos 60W Kit by Delores

Freemax sent me the Marvos 60W kit for the purpose of this review.

boxt (3).png

The Marvos 60W is a small-ish pod mod device that combines the convenience of Freemax coils and an internal battery with the durability of a rubberized coating and covered charge port, plus enough of a menu to customize your vape to suit your style.

In the box you get:

  • 1x Freemax Marvos 60W Mod

  • 1x Marvos DTL Pod

  • 1x MS Mesh Coil 0.25ohm

  • 1x MS Mesh Coil 0.35ohm

  • 1x Type C Charging Cable

  • 1x Warning Card

  • 1x Warranty Card

  • 1x User Manual
in box (3).png

The Marvos DTL pod comes with all the devices in the Marvos line, and it’s really convenient if you have more than one of these devices as they can be swapped from one to another for charging or a change of flavor. The pod sits securely on this mod and I have had no issues with it not making contact. It holds 4.5mls of liquid and fills easily through a port in the bottom, even with a larger bottle or one with a rounded tip.

Some mod specs:

  • Size 123.6 x 32.6 x 30.6mm

  • Battery Capacity 2000mAh

  • Coil Resistance 0.15, 0.25, 0.35, and 0.5ohm

  • Output Voltage 0.7 – 4.2V

  • Output Wattage 5 – 60W

  • Weight 129g

The menu is pretty basic, and easy to use. Click the fire button 5 time to turn on and off, 3 times to change the mode from Wattage to Smart to Bypass. Fire plus Up brings up clear the puff counter, click Up for yes, Down for no. Up plus Down locks the up and down buttons, but the mod will still fire. Down plus Fire changes the screen color and your choices are blue, yellow, green, red, and white.

So what is the Smart mode? When you put a pod on the mod in Smart, the wattage adjusts to the lower recommended setting, and it will not allow the wattage to be adjusted higher than the highest recommended setting. If you have set the wattage lower – and let’s say, you take the pod off to fill it, and put it back on the mod – the wattage will remain where you left it.

It also has a bunch of protections, which will display on the screen as what they are, meaning it’ll say Battery Low or 10s protection. No decoder ring needed.

The airflow has a joystick-like slider, which I love. Nice and firm, no accidental adjusting. And it opens up nice and wide with two large oval holes.

air flow.jpg

The body is kind of a rounded off square, and with the rubberized coating, it’s comfy and easy to grip, and the only place you’ll have to wipe fingerprints off of it is the screen. The downside of the body is it’s a little big for a pocket carry, a little too grippy with the coating. The battery is a little shy of what I would want for running erands, but it’s rugged enough for most of my chores. And the grippyness – is that a word? - keeps it securely in the kangaroo pocket of my hoodie. This time of year, that’s a thing for me. There’s a silicon cover over the charge port that helps the mod resist water, and also keeps fuzzies and stuff out of the port.

mod (3).png

It’s a nice looking device. I got the black one, and it also comes in blue, red, and gunmetal.

No complaints on this one. It does what it says, fiddle-free, very reliable, and quite affordable.

Thanks, Freemax, for the opportunity to review the Marvos 60W kit!

Bench Test Results: Lishen LR2170LA - 45A 4000mAh 21700…good performer but P42A a bit better

These tests below only note my personal ESTIMATED ratings for the batteries I tested at the time I tested them. Any battery that is not a genuine Samsung, Sony, Murata, LG, Panasonic, Molicel, or Sanyo can change at any time! This is one of the hazards of using “rewrapped” or batteries from other manufacturers so carefully research any battery you are considering using before purchasing.

Misusing or mishandling lithium-ion batteries can pose a SERIOUS RISK of property damage, personal injury, or even death. They are not supposed to be used outside of a fully protected battery pack and you use them at your own risk. Never exceed the battery’s true continuous current rating and keep the plastic wrap and top insulating ring in perfect condition.

Testing batteries at their limits is dangerous and should never be attempted by anyone who has not thoroughly studied the dangers involved, understands the risks, has the proper equipment, and takes all appropriate safety precautions.

If the battery has only one current rating number, or if it only says "max", then I have to assume the battery is rated at that current level for any type of discharge, including continuous.

Test Results
Lishen is one of the large, established cell manufacturers in China (天津力神电池股份有限公司). This is a decent performing cell, about equal in performance to the other Lishen 4000mAh-5000mAh 21700’s at 10A. The Molicel P42A outperforms this cell by a bit at 10A, 20A, and 30A.

This cell’s 45A datasheet rating is temperature-limited, it is not a true continuous current rating you can use to compare against other cells. If you use this cell at 45A you must never let the cell reach 80°C (very hot) and any use at 45A will shorten this cell’s cycle life. I recommend using this cell at 30A or lower to reduce risk, increase performance (less voltage sag), and to extend cell life. If this cell is available at a lower price and the Molicel P42A is not in stock this is still a good cell though and I don’t think you’ll see too much difference between it and the Molicel P42A.

The two cells I tested delivered 4021mAh and 4038mAh. This is decent consistency and is typical for cells from one of the larger China cell manufacturers. This cell has a pretty standard cycle life rating in the datasheet but I have not tested that yet.

Two cells were purchased for testing by me.
