Ratings

I noticed in my profile page that there is a summary of post ratings in the left column. It shows the number of each type, both received and given. Most of the types (like, agree, etc.) use green numbers, and two of them, disagree and optimistic, use black letters. It appears that "optimistic" must have a negative implication. I've received it and given it, but might have been using it incorrectly.

I thought that "optimistic" was a way of saying "I hope that works out for you", as in showing support, but maybe it's more like "good luck with that - it's probably not going to work out." Seems like a fine distinction.

I guess my core question is whether Optimistic is viewed as negative.

Thanks for the input.

BREAKDOWN OF TANK AND DEVICE

Uwell_Crown_V_Kit_Overview.jpg

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

After opening the nicely packaged box and seeing all main components in their own spot on a foam cutout I was thrilled to see everything lived up to the beautiful images that I had seen of this kit.

I was lucky enough to receive the blue colored version ( my favorite color ) and really like the way the dark blue at the bottom of the device transitions to a lighter shade of blue at the top matching the CROWN V Tank, even the drip tip has a color matching metal band at the base for a attractive accent, even the O-rings are color matching. Both sides of the device have 5 diagonal leather accent panels within the side panels of which only 1 is removable because it's the battery door cover.

The battery door cover has the CROWN logo on a angle towards the bottom. There is a small bump out on both panel sides at the top center allowing up to a 25mm atomizer to be used without overhang. UWELL list the CROWN V Tank as 29mm but that's at the center of the bubble glass tube, the base is actually 24mm.

20210812_141200.jpg

The CROWN V Tank has a childproof top cap that just spins if you try to open it normally, it must be pushed down and turned until it locks into it's groove where it can be opened by twisting counterclockwise.

The Tank uses a single fill port with a silicone membrane that seals itself back up after the juice bottle tip is removed. These membrane fill ports work very well and more and more manufacturers are beginning to use them.

UWELL has some of the best coils in the flavor department and both supplied coils are no exception. ( pre-installed single 0.23Ω 65-70w ) and ( dual 0.3Ω 50-55w ).

You can see just how close the coil is to the top cap which also aides in flavor leaving little room for vapor to travel to the drip tip.

20210812_135437.jpg

Coils are a push and pull type and use the UWELL PRO-FOCS technology that controls the heating temperature as well as absorbing your juice in the condensation holder at the base of the tank reducing leakage by recycling it and self cleaning itself when vaping. UWELL provides 2 bubble glass tubes in this kit and I kind of with there was a straight glass option as well.

20210812_140402.jpg

The CROWN V Tank is also a looker and having everything color match the mod really makes it look upscaled. The inside of the tank has a look what some may say resembles a crown with the crown logo stamped on one of the arches inside and a minimum juice level marking as well on it's opposite side. The number V is all around the top cap as well as the tanks triple slotted airflow base

20210812_141418.jpg

20210812_141322.jpg

Working our way down from the tank we now come to the small lightweight CROWN V Mod in all it's beauty. This is a pretty small dual 18650 device and it's also fairly lightweight. Batteries are housed inside the device with a removable panel to install and remove them. Battery polarity is clearly marked inside on both battery locations and the device has a perfectly sized battery ribbon that wont bunch up when putting the cover back on. The battery cover is held on using magnets that are hidden as none can be seen.

The cover with the CROWN is the only panel that can be removed, the other cover has the roman numeral V logo also placed on a angle at the bottom. As you can see all corners of the cover and device itself are rounded for a comfortable grip. On the very bottom of the device are 8 slots for battery venting as well as 2 rubber bumper on each side that keep the device secure without sliding, it is a rather slim device and can tip over if not careful.

20210812_141509.jpg

The multi colored display screen is a pretty bight one indoors and works well outside but becomes difficult to read in direct sunlight, fonts are very sharp and clear with the power mode in the upper left corner being just a tad to small making it hard to read. The device information is laid out well and is from top to bottom and left to right.

* Power mode

* Dual battery bars

* Wattage/Temperature

* Puff counter

* Volts

* Coil ohms

* Time of last vape

UWELL even put a crown on the fire/power button located above the display screen, up and down adjustment buttons sit below the display screen and below them is your type-c charge/update plug. The little red dot is the protective display screen sticker.

20210812_141946.jpg

Another nice feature is the menu, it's a very easy one to navigate and only having 2 power modes makes that much easier. SS and Nickle200 TCR settings are in the user manual.

MENU

* ON/OFF - 5 quick Presses of the fire/power button

* POWER MODES - 3 Quick presses of the fire/power button, when flashing press the up or down button to change modes to either Power or TCR

* When in TCR mode it will ask new or old coil then select press the fire/power button and wattage will begin flashing, use the up or down buttons to select your wattage then press the fire/power button and your TCR settings can be set using the up and down buttons.

* Temperature can be adjusted using the up or down buttons.

* Lock/Unlock adjustment buttons - Press the fire/power button and up button simultaneously

* Lock/Unlock the entire device - Press the fire/power button and down button simultaneously

* Clearing the puff counter - Press and hold both the up and down buttons simultaneously

* Factory reset - Press and hold all 3 buttons simultaneously

When I tell you this is a very small device I'm not kidding, I just recently reviewed the Geekvape OBELISK 200 that is billed as the smallest dual 18650 device made and I did measure them next to one another and yes the OBELISK 200 is smaller it's just by the skin of it's teeth, they are neck and neck in this department.

20210814_140652.jpg

PROS

* Attractive

* Childproof tank top cap

* Small

* Lightweight

* Instant fire

* Multi colored display screen

* Bright

* Self cleaning / recycling juice

* Great flavor

* Thick vapor

* 5Ml tank

* Self sealing fill port

* Triple airflow slots

* Smooth airflow at any setting

* Type-C

* Centered 510

* Solid battery door ( no movement )

CONS

* Can be tipped over because of thin base

* Can only use up to a 25mm tank without overhang

USING THE CROWN V KIT

I have to say that beauty alone scores this kit very high with it being very comfortable to use either trigger finger or thumb firing as well, it actually lived up to the hype.

For some reason I have had quite a few UWELL devices come my way as of late and really love their drop in coils for great flavor and both coils provided in the kit are no exception. For me there is no clear preference between the 2, I like them both equally the same, the dual will restrict airflow some but flavor is the same on both.

With the tank having 3 airflow slots I really thought it would be a air machine of which is not my choice of vaping, but I was surprised to find the airflow just fine fully open or reduced a very small amount not even a quarter for a smooth vape. There are no whistle or funny sounds at any setting.

Many vapers have young children and having a childproof top cap just insures a bit more safety and it works very well and it's easy to operate.

Getting back to the device there is another nice feature that I forgot to mention and it has to deal with the battery bars, as power is drained from both bars when it reaches half the battery bars turn from green to blue . Further draining changes the battery bars to red and at that point it's time to replace or charge the batteries.

There are a lot of extra nice touches that UWELL put on both the tank and mod that they didn't have to but I'm very glad they did.

The chip used in the CROWN V works great giving instant fire with 0 ramp up. In the time that I've used it I have had 0 leaks from the CROWN V Tank and it's performed great.

The CROWN V Mod has also functioned flawlessly and I will continue using both for some time to come, I 100% recommend the either the tank or mod as stand alone items but really think together they really stand out from the rest.

I mentioned in my opening statement that I would have a coupon code for you as well as a direct link to SOURCEMORE for the purchase price of $47.99. The code is CRSK with the link

I would like to thank Joyi and Sourcemore for providing the CROWN V KIT for the purpose of this review. I would also like to thank the readers of my reviews and highly recommend the CROWN V KIT from UWELL.

THANK YOU

Question about E Liquid and Vape storage

Hi -
I bought a bunch of e liquid and vapes to store away. It will be in a sealed plastic tub away from light and heat. The question I have is - since light, heat, and oxygen are the enemies of eliquid - would it be good, bad or ineffective to put oxygen absorbers inside the the plastic tub with the eliquid bottles?

Question for users of SC Parlay flavor from BCF

I'd like to know from anyone who has made more than one purchase SC Parlay over an extended period if they have noticed a marked inconsistency in flavor at any time.

I bought a 10ml bottle in late 2018 and liked it, but used other flavors more. I revisited it the week before last when I saw it listed on BCF's Weekly Sale page and decided I liked it well enough to get a 4oz bottle. What I received was a markedly different flavor in smell, taste, and color. They assure me, I guess based on the lot number printed on the label, that I received the correct flavor from their stock. They put the difference down to fade over time or slight batch variation.

I have bought and sampled 38 all totaled of the tobacco SC flavors from ECX, BCF, and VapersTek since 2017. I have not noticed any fade in unmixed flavor or batch inconsistency over time. There are about 13 I've liked and 6 have been my everyday/all-day vape. Certain notes recur in their line that I don't like. One has the slight smell of cocoa and tastes to me something like slight prune and strong, sour/fermenting canned corn and tomato. I believe some reviewers may be experiencing this as dark. It's strongly present in the 4oz bottle of SC Parlay I received. It's absent in the 10ml from 2018, otherwise I would never have ordered any more.

BCF says they have had no reports from the manufacture of any changes nor had any other investigations on this flavor from other customers. This makes me wonder if they have had any customers who recurrently buy this flavor.

VapersTek once sent me a 10ml of SC Luck when I had ordered SC Luck Struck. When I ordered a 30ml bottle they sent the correct flavor, which I didn't care for. They took me seriously enough to discover the mix-up, without much prompting from me, when I described the difference in flavors and sent me a 50ml of SC Luck without requiring me to incur the expense of returning the 30ml of Luck Struck.

BCF says that if I ship back the 4oz bottle of SC Parlay to them they will apply store credit for the amount paid.

SUORIN AIR MOD review by hittman

Welcome back for yet another review on a Suorin product. I was sent the Suorin Air Mod pod kit by Suorin for the purpose of providing to you a fair and honest review. If you follow my reviews then you’ll know that not too long ago I reviewed the Suorin Air Pro pod. The Air Mod looks somewhat similar but is different in many ways. It just so happens that I received the same color in both. It has a 1500mah battery along with a screen and airflow control so it is a bit of an upgrade from the Pro. It also has the smart function where it picks up the coil resistance and sets itself to a recommended wattage. To be honest, I had not given much consideration to Suorin products in the past but have enjoyed testing the devices I have been sent for reviews. The Mod is made partially of recycled materials which I found interesting. Before I go too far let’s take a look at what’s included and see how it performs.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The Air Mod arrived in what has become familiar to me after receiving a few different kits from them which is a white two part box that once the top is removed shows the mod with the pod installed along with two coils, USB-C charging cable and user manual. The two coils included but not pre-installed are .6 ohm rated for 25-30 watts and .8 ohm rated for 15-18 watts. They are push to seat like most coils we see these days. The coils I received had those ratings on them while the picture above shows a little different ranges. I’m not sure why that’s different. I preferred the .6 coil at 23 watts and the .8 ohm coil at 16 watts.

IMG-6061.jpg

IMG-6064.jpg

IMG-6067.jpg

I thought the pod was an interesting design on this one. Rather than the usual opening in the battery unit that the pod just sits inside of the Mod has what I’m going to call a side pod that slides onto the side of the battery. The coil still makes contact on the bottom but the fill port is on the vertical side of the pod that rests against the battery unit. The plug on the fill port is very soft and easy to move for filling. I was able to fill easily with no mess using a 50ml plastic bottle. There are two magnets on the pod. One on the base above the coil and a second one on the vertical side that is actually in the center of the fill plug but not over the fill port. The pod has a 3ml liquid capacity which I think is decent for a device like this.

upload_2021-8-15_11-28-43.png

upload_2021-8-15_11-29-2.png

The Mod is made of zinc alloy and PCTG materials of which some are recycled materials. On what I’ll call the front side of the Mod is the .96” TFT display. The display shows the following top to bottom.

- Battery indicator

- Set wattage

- Puff counter

- Coil resistance

- Length of current puff

To me the display is very bright, clear to read, and the font is a good size. One other thing that I really appreciated was that the user guide was a bit larger than most and had larger print that was easier to read rather than the normal small print that is more common in user guides and almost requires glasses to read. The menu system on the Mod is very simple but not bad for a pod device. The Mod operation is as follows:

- Press the fire button five times to turn the device on or off

- In the unlocked state, use the + and – buttons to adjust the output

- Press the + and – buttons to lock the wattage adjustment. The mod will still fire

- Press the fire and + buttons and it will ask if you want to clear the puff counter. Press + to reset the counter or – to cancel

Also on the front with the display are the words “Suorin Ace Mod” etched into the zinc alloy. On the opposite side are the words “Designed by Suorin” etched. On the bottom of the unit is the USB-C charging port. Shown as a feature of this device is fast charging but it only charges at 1A and to me it really didn’t charge “fast” but more like what I would call normal.

On the thin side of the PCTG is a sliding airflow control along with the fire button and + and – buttons. The buttons are made from the same transparent plastic as that side of the mod. I received the clear green color for the review and I really wish that the buttons and airflow control were either a different color or chromed so they could easily be seen. Maybe it’s my eyes but with the color I received it’s difficult to see the controls.

On the clear portion of the top is the mouthpiece opening. It doesn’t have a tip but the opening is molded into the pod. I could see some lint or something getting into this if it was consistently pocket carried. Perhaps some sort of cap or plug could be included to keep the opening clean. Also, like the Air Pro, the zinc portion of the mod is really shiny and a fingerprint magnet.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

The Air Mod is very thin and compact which can make for a very easily pocket carried device. Whether using the device is used in auto fire or button fire it performed well with both coils. I liked the .6 coil at around 22 watts and used the .8 coil at 14 watts. I ended up preferring both to be used on auto mode with this device. The auto worked very well whether the airflow was open or closed and could even close it completely to get a fairly tight MTL draw with the .8 coil.

The battery life seemed very good to me and was able to get over 300 puffs with the .6 coil on a single charge but I may take shorter puffs than some people. The “fast” charge really didn’t seem that fast to me but the charging time was reasonable for a 1500mah battery.

I thought it was really cool that half of the mod is transparent and you can see the electronics. The screen was plenty big and easy to see and read. What I really don’t care for is the shiny fingerprint laden zinc side. This sample was the same color as the Air Pro I received and perhaps it wouldn’t be as noticeable with a different color. Speaking of things being the same color, I felt like the controls should have been a different color than the mod simply so they could be more easily seen.

So, would I recommend the Suorin Air Mod to you? I felt like the performance of the Mod was very good and gave very good flavor and plenty of vapor production. The main problem I had was it was aesthetics. If you want a long lasting device that is easy to fill and very thin to make pocket carrying easy and performs well then yes if the fingerprint thing doesn’t bother you too much.

I’d like to thank Suorin and Mira for sending the Air Mod for this review and thanks to you the readers. Below is a link to their site for your viewing enjoyment.

As part of our ongoing commitment to making vape e-zine style content, we have taken a look at the best disposable vapes available in the UK right now. While the UK isn't in the EU, it does still follow the electronic cigarette rules on nicotine as the rest of the bloc, which means disposable vapes in the UK are limited to 20mg nic. If you have ever tried a Puff Bar in the US, you may feel a little short-changed :)

For those who haven't, and who are perfectly happy with 20mg nicotine in a throwaway e-cig, this review is for you. Pod kit replacement suggestions

So, I'm currently vaping a 50/50 mix of 50mg saltnic and 3mg freebase in a Tesla Invader GT with a 0.6 Ohm coil at 15W, essentially a 26.5mg liquid that I vape a lot but at this wattage goes really slowly, only 100 ml/month (doing this for about 6 months now). Doing something of an RDL with half of the airflow.

Today my pod system started giving me this weird bad smell from the bottom (where the ventilation holes and the charging port are, basically from here (see attached image). It's like the smell of burnt plastic, or rather burned/shorted circuitry, something like that. It doesn't affect the operation in any way, and doesn't actually alter the taste of the liquid (since the pod is top airflow), but I can still feel it plus it stays on my fingers.

So question 1 is, what the hell might that be? I had some accidental leaking inside the device, and I quite often swim in the pool/sea with the kid with the device sometimes catching some water drops from the bottom. Could the liquid/water damage be the reason for this kind of smell?

Now, it's quite unpleasant so I want to switch to something else. This setup, wattage, coil, coil longevity fit me very much so I'd like to keep as close to it as possible. The pod kit I'm looking at is Geekvape Aegis Boost Pro, it's most certainly an overkill with the 100W max but it has lots of pros including the IP67 rating that should prevent similar problems.

However, the highest impedance coils available for it seem to be 0.4 Ohm rated at 50-60W; there's no chance I'm gonna be vaping any sort of 50mg saltnic mix at that wattage. I don't mind lowering the nic level and increasing the amount of consumed juice a bit, but not too much. Taking into consideration the battery issues, would probably like to stay under 30-35W.

Question 2 then is: what's the lowest wattage I can possibly go below the 'rated' wattage of the coil? Will the mod allow me to do that? Let's say I want to vape that 0.4 Ohm at 20-25W, would that even be possible and if it is, would it be safe for the coil?

Question 3: what are some other suggested alternatives? I'd like a fairly compact pod system with replaceable coils, with 0.6-0.8 Ohm (possibly non-mesh) coils available, 1200mAh or more internal battery or replaceable 18650, at least 3-4ml pod capacity, IP rating would be nice, with coils that are known to last (don't wanna replace them every 3 days), USB-C is desirable. There's also a question of worldwide availability of coils since I'm currently in Thailand but should be travelling back to Ukraine some time next year. Aegis Boost Pro is a good example that fits everything above except for impedance; another thing I was looking at was Uwell Havok.

Thanks in advance!

YOGI Juice & Salt

I tried many juices...didn't like any of them. Maybe i'm picky...yes...probably. Most fruity/sweet juices taste like cough syrup. Miraculously, years ago, my vape shop starting selling Yogi Original Granola. Over the years they've developed some awesome flavors...I switched to Yogi Java quite a while back. 3mg...most excellent flavor. Stay away from anything involving "Salt"--Remember the "Bath Salt" military exp in Florida 2012? I'd advise researching that....I'm sure everyone knows never to buy anything from Royal Farms/7-11/wawa/whatever. NO JUULS. Be safe. Many things are changing.

Looking for retailers still shipping to Australia, nic, diy flavors, and hardware.

Hi, anyone who has recently had shipping to Aus, Im in Qld. I have been finding a lot of suppliers are not shipping to Au or if they are, the shipping is ridiculous.

I did buy hardware from E-juice the other day for just under $11US which is great, but I need Nicotine and some concentrated flavors. Any other places that send hardware to Aus would still be handy.

Thank you :)

(I was going to just write AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE, and see if anyone came back with OY OY OY but I thought better of it ) ...

UPDATE

I have just found out that US cannot ship nicotine to Aus, not much I can do about that one coming late to the game and not having a lot stocked up. I do have some tobacco flavors that I purposely bought high nic so I could water it down. Im not up on all the legislations about all this, but if anyone can help me please. Feel free to message me if you would prefer. Thank you.

The well-loved classic MISO pod kit has a pod cartridge with 1.2Ω resistance while the new MISO-C has a pod cartridge with .8Ω and 1.0Ω resistance.

The good news is that those pod cartridges are all compatible with both devices, so users have more options and can now choose the resistance they prefer.

Smok Mag P3 Won't Turn On or Misfires

Hey everyone. I've been vaping for over a decade and this is just annoying as hell. I've had this mod for about six months and it will fire on it's own for 10s which causes it to shut down....OR.....sometimes it just won't even turn on. I've got batteries....a duel charger...I clean it...blah blah...any ideas of how to fix this issue would be welcome!

Finding an equivalent ejuice

Hello! I am new here, but not new to vaping. I probably starting vaping around 8 years ago. The ejuice I used to buy was a simple Cherry flavor from Voda Vapor here in Arizona. It was the the best flavor that I have ever had the pleasure of vaping. I immediately stopped smoking cigs after trying their Cherry. A year or so later Voda Vapor changed the flavor of their Cherry, and it was just terrible. I ended up moving on juices, but have since picked up the cigs again. I have bought a lot of Cherry flavors over the years, and they all have the same funky taste that I hate. Too sweet, and a weird after-taste. What I liked about Voda Vapor's Cherry was that is was a little harsh, and not too sweet. I really loved the taste. Unfortunately, Voda Vapor has since gone out of business. I really want to stop with the cigs again, but can't find a vendor/flavor that I like that will get me over the hump. So my question here is....does anyone know of any similar Cherry flavors like Voda's out there? Or maybe what ingredients Voda used to make their original Cherry flavor? It may sound stupid, but I am feeling a little desperate here.

The KoguoVape Loki - Recessed 510 plate...

The KoguoVape Loki is an odd one. The 510 plate is recessed down inside what is essentially a "collar" along the top of the mod which is similar to the recessed 510 based mods that came out from 2016 to 2018.

Whyyyyy??? (Boulder Rock Vape Pods)

Hi everyone :) I just joined this group today, and I have a question for you all...

I have been purchasing (and enjoying) my boulder rock pen since my Vladdin pods were discontinued (siiiigh)...but it seems that with at least half of the pods I fill, I get a burnt taste from them...with what looks like condensation where the coil is...does this happen to anyone else, and has anyone figured out why this happens or a solution? I know these are not very expensive, but still...its annoying!! Any help would be welcome!

Thanks so much :) IMG_0981.JPG
