Vapers Tongue for two years now

Hey!

I started vaping 2017 with the well known Heisenberg Liquid (sub ohm).
I loved that for a year and discovered Red Astaire. I thought Holy F*, that .... is good.
And so I Vaped that for two years, 300 puffs a day, sub ohm on a mesh coil with multiple Heads, but primary on the Crown IV.
Suddenly, I noticed, that all I could taste was awfull bitterness, like when you eat soap.
I changed coils, bought another bottle of red astaire, cleaned everything up.
I even tried eating lemons, smelling coffee beans and vaped just the base for a week.
Nothing really helped, coffee gave me 2-3 good puffs, but then it came back to bitterness.

So I discovered Antimatter Neutrino, vaped that for a year now and same thing.

The problem is, that red astaire is still just bitter. (On Vapefly Kriemhild, 0.2 Ohm single meshed coild with a 10% mixture on the 70VG and 30PG base)

Maybe I just ....ed up the smell reciptors in my brain needed for red astaire.

Has any of you experienced that too?

Joyetech Evic Primo 2 - exploded component

Hello everyone!
My eVic primo 2 stopped charging 18650 batteries. It's an old model but I love it so much!
I opened the vape to clean it up and saw the exploded part. I am trying to determine what exactly this detail is. It looks a lot like a regular battery "pill".
I am attaching a photo, I will be grateful for advice or help.

ThunderHead Creations Artemis V1.5 BF RDTA - Review

Hi ECF members, In this review I take a look at the Artemis V1.5 BF RDTA from Thunderhead Creations. The Artemis V1.5 BF RDTA was supplied for the purpose of this review by Klaus from Thunderhead Creations.

Artemis RDTA V1.5 - Powered by Thunderhead Creations

TF16sG7.png

Introduction

Thunderhead Creations are best known for their atomisers (with the Tauren series being the most popular), mechanical and semi-mechanical devices and bridge that gap being mainstream with reasonable pricing while having a higher end build quality. Here I take a look at Artemis V1.5 which is the upgrade to the original released about a year ago and like V1 is a collaboration with Tony Vapes! When I say upgrade it's more of an alternative with more traditional wicking method rather than the replenishing Steel Rope Rods as seen on V1!

The Artemis V1.5 BF RDTA is 24mm in diameter and can be used with a 2ml capacity or extended to 4ml. It utilises a single spring loaded ceramic clamp to secure a single coil build and has both honeycomb adjustable airflow and although officially side-fill has what I would describe as top-fill.

The Artemis comes with both standard and BF pins for both capacity modes and is available in 6 different colour options, Let's delve down deeper!

Aesthetics

The Artemis V1.5 came in cardboard box packaging with viewing window so the atomiser can be viewed without opening, we have contents and branding etc on the back of the box. I received the Blue version, the options are SS, Black, Gunmetal, Gold, Blue or Silver Black.

The Artemis comes assembled in 2ml mode so has a small narrow glass at the bottom and large top sleeve which pulls off to allow access to the deck and side (pretty much top) fill port but also turns for adjusting airflow. On the front of the sleeve we have a large logo and "ARTEMIS" carved into the metal and then either side the honeycomb airflow which consists of 13 holes either side! The top-cap steps to a honeycomb 810 drip tip with "THUNDERHEAD CREATIONS" around it's base!

Moving to the base we have branding, safety stamps and a pre-installed standard, Gold plated pin that protrudes nicely. It's a nice looking RDTA which is quite compact in 2ml mode but still not too large when extended!

RDTA?

I know most atomisers of this style are referred to has RDTA's but who actually would use one as a dripper? RDTA's first got introduced by Steam Crave as the tank of e-liquid is above the deck and drips down to wick rather than the deck being surrounded by a tank of e-liquid as is the case with an RTA! But as time has gone on atomisers get misnamed constantly not that it matters but just thought it's interesting! So really an RTA like the Bishop should be called an RDTA not RTA and the style like the Artemis should correctly be called a top-coiler RTA!

_________________________________________________________________________

What You Receive?

You receive the Artemis V1.5 pre-installed with narrow 2ml glass and short length standard pin. Also in the box is a wider 4ml glass tube, screwdriver and Coil lead length cutting tool. You also receive QC Card, Warranty Card, Manual and two 4 Core Fused Claptons which are Ni80 with 3.0ID and 0.25ohm, they do look very decent and a step up from the usual standard included with atomisers!

lGZL2P2.jpg

We then have the Accessories bag which comprises of spare O-rings, M4 screws, a spare ceramic clamp, springs, tank extension section, Allen Key and 3 510 pins (both short and long BF pins and the long standard pin)!

B4JJdAh.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

It's Various Parts

73EXSsl.jpg

Up top we have an 810 drip tip, although THC drip tips are high quality I usually find them too low profile personally but the one that comes with the Artemis is much more the height I prefer! We then have the top-cap/sleeve which pulls off to reveal the deck, looking inside the sleeve we can also see an inner section with extension to the airflow system and protruding plug for the fill port. The tip section of the plug is Gold plated and pulls free which unless it's because they only wanted the very tip Gold plated and the easiest way was to have that has a separate part I don't see the point of this detaching as all it does is make it possible to lose with it being so small!

R5Qe54c.jpg

Next we have the deck section and underneath a central cylindrical column that can be unscrewed so the included extended longer column can be fitted if using the 4ml glass! The glass fits between the deck section and base plate and is sealed top and bottom via O-rings. A peak insulator and 510 pin gets pushed into the central column and is tightened with the supplied screwdriver.

nFw6553.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

Filling

Obviously one way of filling will be using on a BF device with the a BF pin installed, the liquid travels up the pin and out through holes either side about 75% of the way up so comes out the pin just underneath the deck to top the tank up! Really when using a BF pin with an RDTA atomiser of this style the BF bottle is used as an extension to the capacity!

When you pull the sleeve off you will see a fill port to one side which is at the slightest angle so classed as side-fill but in reality is a much more convenient top-fill and I had no issues at all when filling via the port! Looking inside the top sleeve you will see an extended Gold plug which plugs the fill port during use so you need to make sure the port and plug are lined up for the sleeve to fit properly, that plug also serves a purpose when adjusting airflow but more about that in the next section!

B8ifu8g.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

The Airflow

The Artemis has honeycomb airflow which consists of 13 holes either side. When looking inside the top-cap/sleeve you can see a metal inner section which has a thick walled airflow section either side with the same matching 13 holes per side, this not only means the airflow becomes jets of air aimed at the coil, a proven method for both good flavour and smoothness but also the thickness of these sections really helps to reduce the chamber, another flavour encouragement attribute!

This inner section can be removed where you will find there is an O-ring between the outer sleeve and inner section. The protruding plug for the fill port is attached to this inner section so when the sleeve is placed over the deck this plug goes into the fill port but what that also does is prevent it turning when the outer sleeve is turned so the outer sleeve can be turned but the inner section stays stationary allowing the airflow to be adjusted!

ORcM27U.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

Extending The Artemis and Changing To BF Pin

The Artemis comes with the 2ml narrow glass and short standard pin pre-installed. You have a main central column that extends down from underneath the deck to the base and the glass sits between the deck and base plate sealed both top and bottom with an O-ring. To change just the pin then simply use the included screwdriver to unscrew the pin and pull out, if the Peek insulator surround also comes out just pop that back into place and then just screw in the required pin, you get two sizes of both standard and BF pin so you can use in either mode whether the atomiser is 2ml or extended to 4ml!

MAEfKbJ.png

I extended the atomiser to 4ml which meant I would also need to install a new pin as it needed one of the two long pins so I installed the long BF pin! First I unscrewed the base plate which allowed the glass to be removed and then unscrewed the shorter central column along with the pin. I then popped the long BF pin with insulator into the included longer central column section and screwed onto the underneath of the deck section, popped on the larger glass, screwed the base plate back on and tightened the pin!

I064mR3.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

The Deck And Build

I really like this deck, very simple and well executed! We have two postless terminals and your leads get fastened in position by a spring loaded ceramic clamp which is loosened and tightened by a single M4 screw from the side of the deck! I also used one of the included coils for the build because they look very decent, it's good to not only receive a couple of coils but for them to be of high quality!

5Jo8iB7.png

First you need to cut your leads which if you want you can use the included coil lead length tool, I cut them to the 5mm length which is marked on the tool to be the perfect length but felt they were slightly too long so did cut an extra 1mm off each lead so I would recommend 4mm (maybe try 5mm first, can always shorten but can't add back once cut)! Using the Allen key provided just undo the clamp and pop your leads in, while keeping the coil steady with a coiling rod or fit for purpose tool tighten the clamp to secure your leads then straighten your coil with the rod! Then give your coil a few pulses to burn off any residue and strum out any hotspots, although mine had none and glowed from inside out from the first pulse!

ylS2Jve.jpg

Wicking isn't difficult, your wicks can just poke through your wicking ports or you can have them dangling in the tank whichever you prefer as long as it's not packed tight through the ports which will suffocate the flow it really doesn't matter!

Feed your cotton through the coil and cut to the length you require, I did give my ends a quick comb through (nothing too drastic) and retrimmed before placing through the ports! I then primed the exposed cotton and coil and fired it up to admire my work!

1AsFbxD.jpg

Although using with a BF pin on a BF device, I am using it that way to maximise capacity so also filled the tank first via what I am going to call top-fill! (would anyone really describe this as side-fill?)!

8EDIKxO.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

My Thoughts!

It seems harder all the time just lately with atomisers to find faults which can only be a good thing and with the Artemis V1.5 there's just a couple of petty things and that's about it. I haven't got the original but although this is not a con I must admit I possibly would of preferred that version because I do like RDTA's with Steel Rope replenishing rods but then as I mentioned in the introduction this is not so much of an upgrade or supposed to be better but is just offering an alternative in regards wicking as in V1.5 rather than V2!

I believe all rebuildables should come with everything needed to do at least one build and this comes with not just one but two very decent coils but no cotton, come on THC throw a bit of cotton in (I told you any cons are very petty)! I'm also not a fan that the tip section to the fill port plug detaches as such a small part could easily get lost! The only other slight con is when closing down the airflow less and less of the coil receives air the more it's closed down rather than just a reduction of air that's evenly distributed and although I didn't notice any reduction in flavour when reducing the airflow with the supplied 3.0ID coil I do wonder if using a 4.0 or even a 3.5ID coil it could effect flavour!

This RDTA gives bags of air and I kept forgetting it hosts just a single coil with the amount of vaper it produced, THC have a knack of releasing atomisers which deliver top notch flavour and smooth airflow and that is certainly the case with the Artemis! The build came out at 0.27ohm and I used it at 50W with 40% airflow open which was still more a DL draw with just the slightest restriction rather than a semi restrictive draw and it really doesn't close down enough to give enough restriction for even a medium RDL draw!

I love what is included and that it both can be extended to 4ml and can be used with either standard or BF pins with either capacity. The top-fill (it's not side-fill) works really well being able to fill quickly and mess free and I really enjoyed using it with the 4ml glass and BF pin for all that extra capacity from the BF bottle!

The deck is so well executed with large terminals and ceramic clamp which loosens and fastens with just one screw making coil installation as easy as it gets! The Artemis comes in more standard packaging rather than the metal cannister inside a pouch but the atomiser itself is the usual high build quality I have come to expect from Thunderhead Creations!

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

This time the sample I received was in standard packaging rather than the nicer reviewer sample box. The outer sleeve slides off to expose a black box that once the top is removed exposes the S100 mod with the Z Tank 2021 and underneath is the USB-C charging cable, spare bubble glass, user manual, spare coil, and some o rings along with a coil removal tool in the accessory pack.

I really very much like the new design of the S100 (Solo 2) compared to the original Aegis Solo. It’s a little less wide so won’t hold quite as big of a tank but is plenty big for the included Z Tank which is 23mm at the bottom but gets bigger as it tapers up. At first, the Z Tank almost looked like it was too big for the mod but I quickly got used to it.

The top of the mod has the 510 plate that is held in place by three torx screws. The center pin on the 510 connection is gold plated and spring loaded. I think that about the biggest tank that will fit without overhang is 25mm.

Toward the front of the mod on top is a rubberized cover that once lifted exposes the USB-C charging port. I really like the positioning of the port and can plug in the cord without removing the tank. The cover allows the mod to have onboard charging/updating but still keep the IP68 rating.

upload_2021-10-7_20-47-18.png

upload_2021-10-7_20-47-41.png

Facing the screen, on the right side is the A-Lock that allows the user to completely lock the mod by simply sliding the switch down toward the bottom. On the left side is the Geekvape name stamped into the inner frame.

The back is a padded imitation leather that has two rows of vertical stitching along with three smaller rows of stitching near the top.

upload_2021-10-7_20-49-0.png

upload_2021-10-7_20-49-20.png

On the front of the mod top to bottom is the fire button, 1.08” TFT display screen and the + and – buttons near the bottom. The display screen shows the following information from top to bottom

- Mode of operation

- Battery level indicator

- Set wattage

- Coil resistance

- Amperage under load

- Voltage under load

- Length of current puff/ Puff counter

upload_2021-10-7_20-50-16.png

On the bottom of the mod is where the screw in battery cap is located just like on the original Solo. However, I felt like this one was a little easier to screw in than I remembered the original one being. The inside of the battery tube is marked clearly with a large red X in the bottom of the tube.

I have reviewed the Z Tank 2021 in a prior review so won’t go into great detail. It has a ¼ turn top cap that exposes the two large fill ports. It is a top airflow tank and uses the Z Series coils. The included coils are .2 ohm coil pre-installed rated for 70-80 watts and the .25 ohm coil rated for 45-57 watts. I found the .25 coil to provide superior flavor production but both coils work very well. The coils are push to seat and the redesigned bottom cap screws on to hold it in place and make good connection. I think it would be nice if Geekvape would use different color o rings on the different coils so it would be easier to differentiate between them.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I think the S100 is a real winner. I very much like the slightly smaller size compared to the original Aegis S100 which makes it very comfortable to hold and use. I’ve been a fan of the A-Lock slide control that quickly locks the device since I first tested the Legend 2 for a review. I liked it on that one, like it on the M100, and like it on the S100. I carry my mods in my lunch box coming and going from work and like that I can quickly lock the mod and not have to worry about it accidentally firing which has happened with other mods.

The display screen is large enough that it is easily readable and it’s nice that you can easily adjust the brightness. It’s nice that Geekvape has kept the same interface across different mods so that once you know the button operation of one device then you know how to operate all of them in that series.

The Z Tank 2021 is a solid sub ohm tank that provides very good flavor while using the Z series coils which are also interchangeable across different tanks so you can stock one type of coil and use them in different tanks.

So, would I recommend the Geekvape S100 kit? I think it’s pretty obvious by now that the answer is yes. Whether you want to get the kit with the tank or just the S100 mod, I would recommend it. I think if you liked the Aegis Solo then you’re going to like the S100 even more. Really the only downside I can think of is that the S100 doesn’t have as large of a 510 plate so may not hold larger tanks that you use without some overhang. I know that bothers some people so it’s something to consider before making a purchase.

I’d like to thank Geekvape and Allison for sending the Geekvape S100 kit that has allowed me to do this review. A HUUUGE thanks to the readers. Below is a link to the Geekvape website. Be careful though, there are a lot of nice products to look at there.

Vandy Vape Jackaroo Mini Kit - Review by Javichu

Hello fellow vapers.

Time to take a look at the Vandy Vape Jackaroo Mini 128W Kit which was sent to me by my friends over at Sourcemore for the purposes of the review.
I am a big fan of the Jackaroo model from Vandy Vape, used the Vandy Vape Jackaroo (single none built in battey) for a long time.
Unfortunately i dropped it while i was changing the battery so the battery cap wasn't on and it fell just at the exact angle that it deformed the battery entry point.
Soo...i had to retire it and put it back in the box.
But i gotta say that was one tough mod, loved the weight and the grippy rubbery feel it had.

Ok enough of my old Jackaroo, time to take a look at the new kit, first of all some nice images with all the info about said kit.

UNBOXING AND FIRST IMPRESSIONS:

I am a sucker for the single battery Jackaroo, used it as my main vaping device for a long time so i was eager to unbox this beauty.

As of late and due to the early death of my single battery Jackaroo (user fault,i am clumsy) i have never been that happy when using vaping mods with metal casing.

Now the Jackaroo? WOW!! I just love the grip, love the way it feels in my hands and even thou it is a tad heavier it just feels right.

Dimensions are a bit smaller than the single battery model but it still packs some weight, but the grip is good and it just feels like it was designed to fit nicely in your hand.

Truth be told when it comes to the ''rugged'' style of mods i have only tried the Jackaroos, always wanted to try out an Aegis so i could compare it but i haven't had the chance.
Did review the GeekVape Aegis Nano Kit but compared to the Jackaroo the Aegis Nano kit looks like a keychain :D

The atomizer well when it comes to looks it is not really a head turner but that is just a personal issue, some don't care about looks but just the performance.
Quality wise well i don't know it just feels a bit flimsy, even thou the top cap refill system is cool but i can only wonder how long will it last...time can only tell.

VAPING TIME:

Time to charge the mod,get the atomizer primed and ready and give this kit a try.
Seems the mod came already with some charge in it since it took barely 30 minutes to get it charged (type C charging, meh i am not a fan).

Just so you can get an idea of how long the battery can last, well i used it all day at 30 watts with the VVC-30/0.30ohm(30w to 45w) and i got 396 puffs before the battery indicators went from green to red.

I probably could have got more puffs out of the mod at that time but i didn't want to completely drain the battery.

I usually vape with 0.22 to 0.30 coils at a wattage of 28 to 40 watts, depends a lot on the atomizer itself.

With this tank and using the VVC-30/0.30ohm coil i vaped at around 28/30 watts.
Flavor wise i liked it,plenty of flavor but a bit airy for my taste...did try to fiddle around with the airflow ring but i couldn't find my sweet point.
That could have been more of personal issue than a fault with the tank itself, flavor was there but the hit i wanted? nope, just couldn't get it.

Been using the same mod/tank for 2 days and i have had no problems with it,coil gives the same flavor as the first day.

Mod has an easy menu to use and the filling of the pod couldn't be simpler.
Press on the button of the side of the tank and the top flips open, insert your bottle in,fill the tank then just push cap all the way down until you hear a click.

Although i have to say that when you refill and if you're using a big 120ml bottle like i do you might have to hold the bottle slightly inclined since if you hold it vertically when filling the tank it get stuck with the top cap.

After a day of full use i grabbed the top of the tank and detached it from the base just to check if there was some condensation.
Amount of condensation was minimal, would suggest that every 3 or 4 tanks you fill you just use a paper towel or cloth to remove some of the condensation so it doesn't build up.

I did want to try out the VVC 15 (35w to 60w) coil but my allergies went into overdrive and with all my senses messed up i wouldn't have been able to give it a proper test.

PROS

-Love the design
-Fits nicely in the hand
-Very rugged mod that can take a beating
-Good build quality
-Bright screen and good UI

CONS

-Build quality of the atomizer? Not a fan, feels a bit flimsy
-Even thou the fill system of the atomizer is easy to use the build quality makes me doubt it will last a long time
-TC mode (even thou i don't use it) is still one of the Achilles heels of this chip
-Micro-USB charging

WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS DEVICE:

This is a 50/50 answer.
The mod? yes of course it is a well built mod that will last you for a long time.
The atomizer well i am not sure, even thou i do get good flavor from it but the top cap doesn't seem that it will last long and the airflow well it was impossible for me to find the sweet spot.
Just felt a tad to airy for my taste but as like with everything in life this is just my personal taste and it possibly is different from everyone else.

All in all this is one very good kit that can cover all your vaping needs.

Thanks again to all my friends at Sourcemore for giving me the opportunity to review this device.

Thanks for reading.

Cheapest place to purchase flavorless Nic Liquid Base

What is the deal now ... A lot of these companies that I used to buy Nic base from are now only selling it to someone with a business license, or are completely out of business.

The last time a purchased Nic from was from Nicotine Giant. This was 1,000ml of 100mg nicotine base for $64.95 (that was about 6 months ago)

Now they want $79.95 for 1,000ml of 100mg nicotine base (pretty big price jump)

What is your go-to company to buy flavorless nicotine base for your DIY juice ?

Ron,

Why only 6mg Nic juice sold today ?

I used to purchase ready made vape juice in 15, 18 and 24mg Nic strength. Seems like the highest nic strength juice they sell now is 6mg.

What's the deal with that?

Are there some new laws that are preventing them from selling juice stronger than 6mg nic?

If you know of any vendor selling 18mg nic juice at a reasonable price (delivered here in Florida) please let me know.

BTW ... I am talking about 'regular' nic juice, not that "Nic Salts" type.

Thanks,

810 drip tip

Hello everyone,

I just got the Kylin M Pro. It comes with a black, very boring, 810 drip tip. I got some really cool 810 drip tips that I use but they are a tiny bit longer than the one it comes with. As a result I am thinking of shortening one of them to satisfy my OCD cause right now it’s driving me crazy… Can anyone help with the procedure?

Thanks in advance, VP.

Does juice go bad? (Bought expired juice)

Went to a local B&M yesterday and they sold me some “expired” juice (at full price mind you). I’m relatively new to buying e juice so it’s a flavor I’ve never tried before, but the first thing I noticed is it’s just sort of bland and weirdly.. spicy? (it’s called “naked 100 Cuban blend”, the expiration was on 06/20, didn’t realized it was an old batch til I got it home). Certainly doesn’t taste much like a tobacco, the smell is somewhat reminiscent I guess. Not having tried it before, I’m not sure if that’s just how this particular juice is or the flavor has actually gone off. The color is somewhat dark, but I imagine that’s to be expected in a tobacco flavor (I’ve had other tobacco flavors in the past that were lighter in color but it was from a different brand). Should I call them or bring it back and see if I can get it exchanged for something else? I mean it vapes ok but idk?

Just dropping in after being away for a long time

Hi everyone,

Just posting here to report my success
I quit smoking completely 2 years and 5 months ago
around my birthday in May 2019, when my little niece asked me
“arent you going to stop smoking cigarettes soon?”.
It was probably my 5th attempt to quit using vaping.
I use a very easy setup of an iPower mod and a Melo 3 tank.
I can recommend those for anyone wishing an easy solution.
My first iPower mod lasted over 4 years of daily use before batteries were
worn out and I had to get the new model which is even better it seems.

My cousin died of lung cancer last month. He was a smoker, but had quit. He was
53 years old and its very tough for the family, he was a very good person and very loved.

I havnt been keeping up with the news and research about health risks from vaping.
Is it getting more accepted as harm reduction? My lungs feel way better than when I smoked, thats for sure.

Thank you for reading, and have a nice day - keep on being an awesome community
