INITIAL IMPRESSIONS


Packaging for the trident is the same as the 2 other Suorin devices I've reviewed with it's contents being the device, pod and 2 coils being a 0.4Ω single mesh rated at 40-60w and a 0.2Ω triple mesh rated at 55-75w that sit in individual plastic cut outs, Suorin does not include a charging cord with the kit, the user red user manual lays on top.





I liked the appearance of the device right off the bat, the red color contrast against the carbon fiber sticker across the spine with a silver touch of the airflow selector, a very nice melding of colors. I noticed that the coils themselves also have a airflow selector on the base giving you more options of airflow. Suorin also got it right by keeping the pod very lightly tinted so juice viewing is a breeze. A trait that Suorin did in the past 2 device that I reviewed showed up again with the Trident having a protective sticker across the display screen for transportation protection.





As most pod mods are held in place using magnets the Trident uses them as well and they hold in place very well, in the center of the connection point between the outer magnets are 2 gold contact pins for the coil's connection to the device shown with the 0.2Ω triple mesh coil installed.





Unfortunately there is no top or side fill of the pod but rather bottom fill, with the coil in place it can be difficult to grasp the little tab of the fill port plug. once opened up there is a very nice sized fill hole that fit Gorilla bottle tips with ease.





As mentioned earlier the Trident uses a replaceable 18650 battery and I can only imagine how much better it would be if it ran off a 21700 instead. Running a coil such as the triple mesh at 60w really drains a 18650 quickly, the Trident has good battery management but any device running higher wattage numbers on a single 18650 battery will not last that long.

The battery is feed through the device via the bottom and uses a screw on cap/cover that after loosening can be twisted off by grasping the outer portion which really speeds up time and makes for a much better way instead of the inner tab that must be opened up and turned without it collapsing back down and having to pull it up again as many others use on their battery covers. Battery polarity is only marked on the cap with a minus symbol.







The Trident has 2 airflow slots, you adjust airflow by moving the airflow selector that begins to close down only 1 of the 2 slots which is different from what is normally found on a dual airflow device, usually when adjusting both slots close down equally but the Trident only closes down 1 slot, and remember you also have a airflow control on the coil itself. On all adjustments that I tried the airflow remained smooth with no whistle or funny sounds. The 2 slots are located at the top of the device in a silver color control .





The front of the device is clean with the Suorin name very lightly placed at the top under the lightly tinted display screen, the fire button is just below it and the up and down buttons that are rectangular in shape are at the bottom with the type-c charge port below them.

The display screen is bright and vivid with nice sized fonts that make viewing your information a breeze. The color of the display screen is green and when switched into RBA mode turns red.

Every bit of information you need is well placed on the screen and the information layout from top to bottom and left to right is as follows.

The Trident is one of the easiest devices to operate because there are only 2 modes of operation (Auto/RBA) and being a wattage only device no need for a menu system only a couple of button combinations to remember.


* On/Off is 5 quick presses of the fire button

* Wattage lock is 3 quick presses of the fire button

* To switch modes from Auto to RBA is press the fire and down button simultaneously

* To clear the puff counter press the fire and up button simultaneously


COILS


The 0.2Ω triple mesh coil really puts out very good flavor and enough vapor to cloud up a room very quickly, I made the mistake when first testing the coils of jumping in my truck to run some errands and took a very deep vape and was blinded with so much thick vapor LOL.

Manufacturers really have come a long way with producing great drop in coils and Suorin is right up there with the 2 that were supplied with the Trident.

The 0.4Ω single mesh coil has a lot more airflow and although the flavor is very good the 0.2Ω coil edges it out in my opinion.

I was not sent the RBA coil for review which I would love to have tried and built, having a RBA option is a very big plus for the Trident.

FINAL IMPRESSIONS

I think the Trident is a very nice pod mod having no problems at all in the testing of it, it's lightweight makes it very portable and the flavor off the coils make me a happy and satisfied man when vaping it.

The ease of use with a bright easy to read display screen give it a winner status in my book.

All edges are rounded making it very comfortable to hold and it's size is just right for a ergonomic grip while thumb or finger firing the device.

It has been a while! Today I have a new RTA by Oxva for review the Arbiter Solo. It is an RTA designed to both perform as an MTL and RDL tank because of its unique dual airflow control.

Review:

Looks remind me of quite a bit of one of my favorite RTA's, the Geekvape Ammit MTL RTA. Also, it looks pretty much the same, but smaller, as the Oxva Arbiter. Overall, I think this RTA looks nice, just the branding on the bell could have been minimalized to either only the writing ARBITER or only the logo. Machining wise it feels proper and I have not had any issues with the threading on this RTA.







What makes this RTA special is the top-cap and inner-chamber. They are connected through a turning-mechanism allowing the user to switch between a restrictive MTL or looser RDL vape. As shown with the writing on the top-cap, turned to the left sets it to MTL and turned to the right to RDL. So, what happens is that the moving part inside the chamber moves next to the build-deck and dependent on the setting different air slots will be closed or opened. I do find it very useful and there is clearly a difference in the airflow. I think for MTL setting it directs the airflow to solely the bottom of the coil and at RDL it also opens the sides creating a three-direction airflow.

Next to the top-cap airflow adjustment there is regular top-airflow adjustment. The different openings allow for a very loose to very tight draw. The sleeve opening on the airflow ring allows for several holes to be opened at once and the single ring-hole for a specific hole to be uncovered. Really like the airflow on this tank, can get my sweet spot for a tight MTL draw, and RDL draw. It also sounds very smooth, close to silent.





Top-fill is something I had to get used to. It is threaded but also you need to pull the top-cap up to release it from the tank, that is because of the MTL/RDL setting system as the pin is inserted from the top as well. Two large enough fill-holes can be found which are slightly embedded inside the top for easy, mess-free filling. Capacity wise its all good with the choice between the straight 2ml glass 4ml bubble glass. For MTL I find the straight glass enough.



The chamber needs to be eye-balled onto the base of the tank. There is two tiny bits that stick out on the build deck and need to be inserted and aligned with the rectangular-shaped cut-out on the chamber. This again has to do with the secondary airflow system, as it functions as a stopper both ways (MTL & RDL). On the inside of the chamber you get an idea on how the secondary airflow system works. It has different openings cut into an internal moving chamber. Turning to MTL allows only for the bottom airflow and turning to RDL will open both side airflow slots on the build-deck.





Deck is easy to build on, just wish they used flathead or Philips head screws instead of hex. Flathead and Philips head screwdrivers everyone has for this size screwheads, hex not. They could have included spare flathead screws for example. Coil-legs clamp well into place, no issues there, all very simple. It is recommended to use a longer coil rod to make it easier to position the coil. The U-shaped channel allows for coils up to 3mm, but with thicker wire you might not fit 3mm in there. I used some clapton wire 26g+32g and 3mm really is the maximum, almost touching the sides.





Ports for your cotton are large enough and I find not combing out 3mm shoe-lace cotton to be perfect, it does not site in there too tight and wicks very well. Have not experienced any issues with the vape being dry, even when chain vaping at 45-50 watts it keeps up very well.





It vapes really outstanding this RTA, both MTL and RDL. Flavor is very good for a top-airflow RTA. Considering its airflow options and its smoothness it is just a very well performing RTA. For me this one is better than the original Arbiter. I know they are entirely different types of tanks, but the Solo is just great in almost everything.

Conclusion:

If you like vaping both DTL/RDL and MTL but don't want to invest in two tanks, then this RTA is a very good choice. Even if you are just vaping MTL or RDL I would recommend this RTA as it does both great.

Easy to build on, lovely smooth vape and great flavor. The dual airflow control is really nice and makes your control over your airflow very accurate.

Only downsides I have are the screwheads being hex and the limited coil size (3mm) you can use.

While the original VooPoo Vinci may have kickstarted the pod mod revolution, it was the Vinci X that really made the Vinci brand so popular among both casual and experienced vapers. The idea of making an external battery version of the Vinci turned out to be one of the most inspired in VooPoo’s history, with the Vinci X surpassing the original in popularity. So you could say that it’s no surprise the Chinese company decided to come up with a Vinci X 2.

Vinci X 2 Packaging and Presentation

The new Vinci X 2 pod mod comes in the same style box as the VooPoo Vinci 2, only slightly longer, to accommodate the device inside. It features a picture of the pod mod over a large “2” in the background, on the front, and a list of contents, nicotine and age-related warnings, manufacturer information, and a scratch and check authenticity sticker, on the back.


Inside the box, we have the same accessories I mentioned in the Vinci 2 review – a couple of PnP coil-heads, a USB Type-C charging cable, and a user manual. The only difference is that instead of a higher resistance MTL coil-head, you get an 0.15Ω mesh coil-head designed for direct lung vaping.

Vinci X 2 Design and Build Quality

As was the case with the Vinci 2, the new Vinci X 2 looks very similar to its predecessor, the original Vinci X. It makes sense, I guess, since that was such a recognizable vaping device that the looks alone are now somewhat of a calling card.

There are a few small differences between the new Vinci X 2 and the original, including the new and improved airflow system, which now consists of a metallic knob that you can turn sideways to open and close the two airflow slots, the decorative panel which now comes in five different patterns and colors, as well as the layout of the screen. The device itself has slightly more beveled edges and corners this time around and a nicer brushed metal finish, but overall it remains very similar to the old VooPoo Vinci.

Starting at the top, we have the same style refillable pod as before, only this time it holds up to 6.5 ml of e-liquid, compared to 5ml. It takes the same PnP coil-heads as the original, only a lot more coil variants have been launched in the past couple of years, so there are plenty more PnP coil-heads and RBAs to choose from.

The control panel is reminiscent of the original Vinci X, with the same round fire button near the top, vertically-oriented up and down knob near the bottom, and a generous color display in-between. The screen has a decent resolution and is fairly bright, making everything easy to see in virtually any lighting conditions.

Opposite the control panel we have a decorative panel. My review sample came with an iridescent purple to orange gradient featuring the VooPoo brand, but there are plenty of others to choose from. On the bottom, we have a classic battery door with a nice rubber ring on the exterior, which offers more grip and stability when positioning the pod mod upright.

The battery compartment accommodates a single 18650 battery, and has polarity markings both on the bottom and on the back of the battery door. The door is nice and firm, and there is no battery rattle whatsoever.

Overall, the VooPoo Vinci X 2 is a very solidly built yet refined vaping device, if somewhat too similar to its predecessor in terms of design.


Vinci X 2 Menu System and Navigation

The VooPoo Vinci X 2 is powered by the same Gene chip as the Vinci 2, so it has the same screen layout, menu and button combination. For a more detailed rundown of the menu, check out my review of the VooPoo Vinci 2.

The few differences between VooPoo’s latest pod mods include the difference in power, with the Vinci 2 maxing out at 50W, and the Vinci X having a max output of 80W. However, although the Vinci X can also be used in Smart Mode or RBA Mode, it lacks the multiple battery activation of the Vinci 2.


Just like with the original Vinci X, the only way to activate the battery on the Vinci X 2 is by pressing the fire button. There is no automatic draw option here, and I personally consider that a con, as having the choice to simply draw on the mouthpiece, like on a cigarette, or to press the fire button is brilliant!

Vinci X 2 Battery Life and Performance

The new Vinci X 2 pod mod requires an 18650 external battery, which not only provides more vape time on a single charge than the built-in 1,500mAh of the Vinci 2, but also gives the user more freedom. Instead of having to plug in the pod mod to a power source in order to use it after the battery is depleted, all you have to do is get a spare 18650 battery, pop it into the battery compartment and you’re good to go.


The USB Type-C charging port allows you to charge your battery inside the Vinci X 2, but I personally recommend you use an external charger for added safety and to prolong the life of your batteries.

Performance-wise, the VooPoo Vinci X 2 is virtually the same as the classic Vinci 2, with only the different power output to tell them apart. The cartridges are exactly the same, they use the same PnP coil-heads, and the airflow adjustment is the exact same as well. Yes, the Vinci X 2 comes with one different coil-head than the Vinci 2, but you can just buy whatever PnP coil-head separately, so it’s not much of a difference.

Just like with the Vinci 2, the airflow adjustment on the Vinci X 2 is a big improvement over the original’s rudimentary airflow control system, allowing you to use it both as an airy direct lung vaping device, as well as for a loose MTL draw. Its versatility is one of its main qualities.

The PnP coil-heads have been around for ages, they’re some of the best coil-heads on the market, and with so many options to choose from, you’re bound to find something that suits your needs. Just keep in mind that there is no MTL option included in the kit, you’ll have to buy that separately.


Conclusion

The new VooPoo Vinci X 2 isn’t the innovation that its predecessor was a couple of years ago, but it is definitely a fine addition to the growing Vinci line of pod mods. The build quality has been improved this time around, with the visible imperfections of the original now a thing of the past, the e-liquid capacity has been increased, and the color display is much nicer this time around.

It’s not all positive though, as, just like the Vinci 2, the X version is a bit too similar to its predecessor, both in terms of design and functionality. Apart from the improvements listed above, it’s pretty much the same as the original Vinci X, just with more PnP options than the original had when it launched. It’s still one of the best pod mods around, it’s just not the game changer the original was.

Hi everyone.. I'm curious to if anyone has switched from freebase subohming to nic salts.. What my perceived benefit would be to vape less.. I'm probably in a weird case.. I'm vaping 12-18mg currently and have been for years.. I work at home and I'm going through about 5-7mls a day.. I'm wondering if anyone else has switched over and did it make you vape less?

It seems that regulations have changed. My 5 year old bottle of 100mg nic base is almost empty, and I’m having trouble finding more. Who are the current sources?

So these are my thoughts on the new Requiem BF kit from Vandy Vape after about a weeks use. I am going to sperate this out into two parts, 1 - The RDA which I have not used and 2 - the Mod that I have been using exclusively for the past week or so. I purchased the Gun Metal Version.

First the RDA. So the RDA is a 22mm and the airflow feels restricted direct lung. Since I have not used it yet, the only other thing I will say is that it feels cheap. Both caps are plastic of some kind and the feel is not great. The base is metal, but the feel is not great. I am not sure how this compares to the original Requiem RDA as I do not have one. This doesn't bother me as I wanted just the Mod and only the kit is out now. I may be more upset if a Mod only version comes out and it is $20 cheaper cause this RDA is not worth that.

Now the Mod. So for performance I am using the Gorge RDA with a single 3mm SS round wire coil coming out to .37ohms. Since this is a mech I am using brand new Molicel P26A batteries. I have some thoughts on these below as this is the first time I am using them.

Look and feel - This is a very small Mod, much smaller than I was expecting. I guess the reviewers I watch all have small hands cause it didn't look this small. The Mod unlike the included RDA, this Mod is solid and heavy, like use it for brass knuckles heavy. The weight feels very good in my hand. Hard corners on the front, rounded on the back, and it feels very good in the hand (I have very Large meat hooks).

The 510 is adjustable, and a 24mm RDA fits, but the plate is only 22mm so there is an ever so slight raised look that I don't notice unless I look for it. If you have OCD this may bother you.

The Shut of Switch works. Inside the battery fits very tight and I am using a ribbon I have to wrap around the battery to make it easier to get out. Without it you are doing the smash the mod on your hand thing. It would have been nice if they included one since they sent battery wraps.

The contacts are easy to remove for cleaning, and while I haven't done the 510 yet, it looks like I can do it with my fingers. I will update this post if I have troubles. Being able to easily disassemble a mod for cleaning is a plus to me.

The bottle is the only really big negative I have. First it is small - maybe 5.5ml of juice capacity. The fill method they added doesn't work unless you are using a syringe and the cap part is way too big. If they would have put a normal cap I bet they could have gotten 2ml more in the capacity. The feel of the bottle is perfect just firm enough. For now I am using the stock bottle as it is working for me based on the battery performance I am getting. If you are looking for other bottles, they do need to be short as the space the 510 takes up is on the larger size. The bottles from the pulse will not fit (too tall). I had some random SNK bottles I bought in my spares bin that fit fine though.

Performance - this Mod hits nice. I do not bothered to measure the voltage drop, but based on other mods I have this is very low. With the Molicel and my build, I get two bottles out of it between battery changes.

Overall I will be getting another of these and I think I have found my daily driver. I have not put this down since it came in.

A note on the Molicel P26As - Mooch did testing on these so you can see the numbers in his blog, but performance wise, at the start they hit a little lower than the Sony VTC4s but keep a more consistent vape through out the life of the battery. I have been using VCT4 to this point and I bought these cause they were on sale and had good testing results and I can say I think I will be switching to these from now on.

Hi all,

Curious if anyone knows which 510 the boxer bf mech mod is using ? It has a very large contact “collar” Unfortunately that 510 design isn’t great if you dissemble frequently to clean, the tiny collar screw strips extremely easily and I can’t seem to find that one tiny screw, weirdly. I’m also in Europe so trying to get parts from ginger wouldn’t be cost effective.

Second to that, and about more than just the mech bf, has anyone dyed their boxer back to glory? Maybe it was living in a sunny place but they certainly faded quickly for me and I have a few I’d like to get back to black. In the case of the mech it’s easy enough to dunk, or I can “paint on”. If necessary I can take apart the regulated too but meh.

I’m new to vaping. I have been a heavy 2 pack a day Marlboro light smoker for 20 years. I recently got into vaping and so far it has been an amazing journey!

I started with a small pod device (Caliburn) with 16MG nic salt. I found that I was still not able to quit smoking. I went back to my local Vape shop and got some 20mg nic salt juice, and that was too strong! It made me dizzy and confused and I just felt unwell. Even though @20mg I was getting a lot of nicotine I still wanted to smoke a cigarette.

On a whim I decided to give sub ohm vaping a try. I got myself a Lost Vape Thelema DNA 250c + a Freemax Mesh Pro 2 tank. I opted with 6MG freebase juice at 70/30. And sure enough it worked! I was able to quit smoking and have been smoke free for a week now!

My question though, is 6MG freebase nic @0.2 ohms (dual mesh), 70-80 watts too much? I feel fine for the most part and my cravings for cigarettes are under control. However from what I’ve read (and what the guy at my local Vape shop says) is that for sub ohm vaping you generally should stick to about 3mg of nicotine.

I know everyone is different, and you should do what works for you. But I’m just worried that with the large amount of Vapor I’m producing 6MG might just be a little risky.

I Vape quite a lot (200-250 puffs a day) and probably somewhere around 15-20ml of juice a day (at 0.2 ohms @ 70w the juice burns pretty quick). As mentioned above I generally feel fine. However sometimes I do feel a bit out of breath and like my chest is heavy. This could be gas (perhaps from inhaling so much air?). Or it could just be me adjusting from cigarettes to vaping. I don’t feel nauseous or have headaches.

Please let me know your opinions. Would really appreciate some advice from more experienced vapers!
