Hey Folks,
New meat here!
I just received a Hellvape Fat Rabbit Solo 2 and built it with the included coil. Not sure what alloy it is so I ordered a roll of 28-28/32 316L SS clapton wire for future coil builds. My theory on wire is I don't want any wire that contains aluminum in its alloy. It's been proven that aluminum oxide leads to alzhiemers. I suffer from CRS as it is, no need to make it worse.
OK, enough of that!
I built a coil out of the SS and did the burn like I saw on youboob vids and my thought is it burns the wire too much, turns it black. I do some SS welding with a mig and after running a bead the end of the wire is almost crystalline from the intense heat.
I've been vaping for about ten years now running atomizers with replaceable coils, just retired a Zeus. I always buy the SS wire or mesh coils and I'm pretty sure they don't preheat those coils. I know they don't preheat the wire coils because you can see the shiny wire down inside.

I figured out a way to rebuild those coils but it requires machining the inner coil housing after you get it out then cleaning the coil and wrapping with cotton and pressing all back together, labor intensive PITA and sometimes it's hit and miss with the rebuild. One thing I've noticed on the more successful rebuilds is they never last as long as the original build and I wonder if it's from the burning off process over stressing the metal.
Wire is cheap so if I have to build new coils rather than burning off so be it.

Oh yeah, got a Thunder Cloud Blaze Pro Max on its way, it's probably on a slow boat right now.

These tests below only note my personal opinion for the ESTIMATED ratings for the batteries I tested at the time I tested them. Any battery that is not a genuine Samsung, Sony, Murata, LG, Panasonic, Molicel, EVE, Ampace, Reliance, Sinowatt, Lishen, BAK, or Sanyo can change at any time! This can be one of the hazards of using “rewrapped” or batteries from other manufacturers so carefully research any battery you are considering using before purchasing.

Misusing or mishandling lithium-ion batteries can pose a SERIOUS RISK of property damage, personal injury, or even death. Never use them outside of a fully protected battery pack and you use them at your own risk. Never exceed the battery’s true continuous discharge rating (CDR), never let it get colder than 0°C or hotter than 60°C to help lower the risks and extend cell life, and keep the plastic wrap and top insulating ring in perfect condition. Never use a battery that is physically damaged in any way.

Testing batteries at their limits is dangerous and should never be attempted by anyone who has not thoroughly studied the dangers involved, understands the risks, has the proper equipment, and takes all appropriate safety precautions.

If the battery has only one current rating number, or if it only says "max", then I have to assume the battery is rated at that current level for any type of discharge, including continuous.




Test Results
This is one of the best performing 21700 power cells we can buy, along with the RS50, 50XG, and JP50P1.
Some notes…

• This is probably the full production cell, having both the CCC*** and CE marks.
• The bottom internal weld line has changed from a spiral to a large open circle. There are other changes, see the attached table.
• These cells performed well but at a slightly lower voltage and a few degrees-C hotter than the pre-production cells. See the attached graph.
• This could be due to the higher DC internal resistance of these cells, 7.6mOhms average, compared to the 6.6mOhms average for the pre-production cells.
• EVE rates these at 50A maximum with an 80°C cutoff. At 40A they would reach about 77°C so I am estimating their true continuous current rating at 40A with a 50A temp-limited (to 80°C) rating.
• There are no insanely high pulse ratings in the latest version of the datasheet. These are not inferior or “crippled” cells! The ratings are tailored for the target markets and the high pulse ratings for the pre-production cells were probably for the (rumored) drone customer. The new 50A rating is a general purpose one for drones, robots, micro-mobility vehicles, power tools, etc.
• The two cells I tested delivered 5037mAh and 5049mAh. This is decent consistency and a little above the 5000mAh minimum rating so I am rating them at 5000mAh
• Standard charge rate is 2.5A, max is 10A. I recommend staying at 2A-3A or below for long cell life.
• Max cell size (datasheet spec) = 70.15mm x 21.15mm diameter. The cells I had were 69.97mm x 21.14mm max.
• Max weight (datsheet spec) = 72.0gms. The heaviest cell I had was 65.3gms.

***China Compulsory Certification, additional testing now required for all cells made or sold in China after August 1, 2024. The logo and certain information must be put on all cells once they are certified. This typically won’t be done by a manufacturer until the cell is ready to go into full production.
