wonder just how long our govt is gonna ignore these. Health effects on the vapers themselves aside, as that is still a heated debate, the effects on the people surrounding us should be taken into consideration as well.

Smoking : harms both the smoker and the people around.
vaping : May harm the vaper, but not the people around.

Do you guys realise that when the rave about how these things are not harmful and proven, our G immediately ban shisha? Like, out of nowhere suddenly ban shisha?

That is because if they do not ban shisha, it is likelyhood they have to allow the vapes. That scared them into believing that their income will be slashed by half, therefore they got rid of anything in the way of their taxes.

It's the easy way out for them.. So long as they control the mass media ppl will mostly believe them..;(
Right now it's a whole lot easier to ban vaping and continue collecting tobacco tax than to regulate vaping..

Yep. That's how it works. I wonder if we are the only place with the most number of bans. LOL.

A study about the effects of exhaled vapor from electronic cigarette and smoke from tobacco by the University of Valencia (Spain). An interview with Dr Miguel de la Guardia, professor of analytical chemistry, who was in charge of this investigation.

this thread is amazing. love the articles!

anyway, it is all about the tax $$$. Anything that cannot be regulated (i.e. TAX) it is touted as harmful blah blah. but cigarettes have an existed tax structure so hey ho no issue there.

Not sure if this is true, but my understanding is that the big tobacco are part of the FTA so there is no way in this universe that the G will ban ciggies. Then again, it is a lucrative source of tax $$$ so why slay the golden goose eh?

i think this is the be all end all mentality. something new? ban it till "further instructions". how to justify the ban? slap on all kinds of social ills on it, be it fact or not.

what to do?

Great articles here. But we all know, and its no secret, that the authorities will ignore anything that is in favour of vaping. They will widely publicise anything negative, and the positive will be kept hush hush. I know they are reading this, but they are just gonna choose to ignore it. You know, to protect their wallets.

It's the oldest and probably most effective trick used by governments world wide.. Control the media and you pretty much control the people.. Opposing voices, as long as there's no obvious 'snowball' effect, ignore them. Very soon they will quiet down and die off. Soon nobody will remember they exist in the 1st place!

Definitely, I have no illusions of local authorities heeding these letters or state media publicising them. If not mistaken, only alternative sites like The Online Citizen & Wake Up Singapore posted them.

Still, internet is a powerful medium. So I do think it'll help a lot in the long run if such topics are shared occasionally on social media platforms like FB, twitter etc. to create a better understanding of the benefits of vaping to non-smokers, would-be vapers and to the general local public, and hopefully this thread can facilitate that. :vapor:

With tobacco companies in, the e-cig market is rather messy now. Any lab can produce a totally positive or negative result, and they can both be right, depending on what liquid and setup they chooses …

non smokers/vapers will seldom take the time to find out the real concept behind the e-cig revolution, and will take the test/research result at face value, as long as the guy in the pic is wearing a lab coat or with a 'Dr' in front of his name.

Sadly, many 'Doctors' and researchers, eager for fame and front page time, take the easy route, publishing their 'findings' without 1st understanding...
