Hold off on the B of F By Cat. I see I need to change some of the Chocolates. Taking it off for now. Will re post when finished.

Wound up changing all three! . Found several that need category changes( same link ). If anyone thinks there are more, PM me so I can update for the next report, NEXT year :2cool:

I am completely blown away by all this information. Y'all (and especially PaddyMx) ROCK!! I just can't afford to keep paying $$$ for juice, and I mix what I have anyway, so turning to the DIY side just makes sense. (Plus, hubs and I just started watching Breaking Bad, which is bringing out my inner Hermione... lol)

One of my concerns is diacetyl and its substitutes, as I like buttery flavors (Butter Beer, Butter Rum, Cheesecake, Creme Brulee', etc.). Can anyone post or point me to a list of diacetyl-free vendors? My lungs are still a bit tender from quitting last year, so I want to avoid that as much as possible.

Most have stopped using diacetyl but I know TFA has stopped using it. But be aware there are problems with custard flavors as per TFA:
Vanilla Custard Flavor..*** contains both "Custard" ingredients (acetoin and acetyl propionyl) -Please see our information section on these ingredients in the Flavorist Corner (lower left of the screen)
****** This flavor should only be used in Food and Cosmetic applications.****** This flavor (no matter what company makes it) has inhalation risks if it contains either Acetoin or Acetyl Propionyl!

AND

Vanilla Bean Ice Cream Flavor...This flavor currently contains Acetyl Propionyl, which carries potential inhalation risks. It should only be used for food flavoring applications.

Just make sure to read the ingredients of any butter flavored juice or contact the vendor before buying.

Great post! Thank you for all the work put into this. It is great to be part of such a great sharing community. I am trying to find a caramel flavoring that does not taste like burnt popcorn. It seems the pre mix stuff I get all has the burnt popcorn taste and I want to avoid that with my DIY (just getting started). Also looking for a chocolate that tastes like chocolate and not an imitation chocolate liquor. Thanks!
