My husband was doing great giving up the analogs. Six weeks later (four cig. free), he's complaining about his nose drying out so much it bleeds and is scabbed over inside and his throat hurts/dry/rasp. Anybody else experience these symptoms? Is it too high nicotine, not enough water, the PG is messing with him, gunk is getting cleaned out of his system? I'm just not sure what to do for him, but he's threatening to go back to analogs because of how he's feeling. He's using Aspire ego batteries with clearomizers, 50/50 ejuice with 12/18mg. He really likes vaping, and I hate for him to go back to those stupid cigarettes.

never herd of a nose bleed from vaping. I have herd of people not tolerating PG very well. Just a guess possibly try very low or no PG what so ever. Im sure there are threads about symptoms of people who don't get along with PG try the search in the upper right hand corner. I hope its as easy as that and just no PG fixes the problem!

Get him some saline nasal spray. I notice that you live in Texas which can be a dry place.

So vaping may be adding to that dryness and those prone to bloody noses.. that will do it.

Also for his dry throat get him somme throat spray :)
San Antonio is almost as humid as Florida

EDIT Your thinking west TX

I read threw some threads and a few people seem to think PG caused them nose bleeds also certain flavors seemed to cause some people some trouble.

I am not sure if PG in itself causes nose bleeds. Maybe when combined with other factors?

I do live in humid Florida, yet my son and daughter are both prone to nose bleeds. Allergies?

Just pure speculation on my part but possibly side affects from not smoking add a sensitivity to something in the vapor weather it be PG VG or flavor. Your body goes threw all sorts of fits when its cleansing its self of the toxins from years of smoking.

Nose bleeds can be a sign of vitamin D, vitamin A and vitamin K deficiency as they are cofactors, a quick search will tell you all of the cofactors to these vitamins including minerals.

I noticed when I vape a higher PG then I my nose dries up, it's the exact opposite when I vape a higher or just VG e juice. Vaping with VG keeps my nose hydrated, make sure he drinks lots of water too.

As others have said, you have to constantly drink water as you vape. Just small gulps at a time as he vapes. At times i have to chug half a bottle of water after i vape about 0.5ml of juice with 3-6mg of Nic.

Nose bleeds are do to dehydration and lack of vitamins. Or do to regular Alcohol consumption in high quantities; a 6 pack before bed time.

Some people are allergic to high PG in juice, so have him switch to lower PG juices. 20% PG or lower.

Try to find Ayr Nasal gel at walgreens.
My husband, mother and I all started vaping in NOV. 2013 In the midwest....house closed up and furnace on... DRY...

I don't think the scab in my nose healed until almost the end of the next summer....I KNOW....too much information!!

My husband had nose bleeds and my mother never had any issues at all.

We were prepared this year when the furnace went on. ....AYR saline gel....it really helped...I don't remember who suggested it but it was on this forum.

Good luck:toast:

I had the same thing in my nose and sinuses when i vaped 90% PG for a week; inside was rough and scabbed over, felt burned, also my throat, and I got a lot of nosebleeds before that healed. If he is particularly sensitive to PG, I'm sure it could do the same thing at a much lower percentage.

More water, saline nasal spray, tissues with lotion in them, and less PG in the vape, should fix it within a week or 2. It takes a while to heal.

I've had all that too, especially on those days where I used my e-cig more than I should have.

I was using 100% PG liquids at the time, and I thought this was "normal". I mean, my "tobacco hangover" used to be an heavy chest and coughing in the next morning. I thought that if "vaping hangover" was just having my throat a little raspy and some scabs up my nose, I could live with that. :)

Believe or not, only five full years into vaping, did I finally try a 50:50 liquid. And then I discovered that those symptoms do not need to be "normal".

So, for a years or so, I have been using 50:50 or 40:60 PG/VG liquid, and those symptoms have mostly disappeared.

Also, some flavours can do that to you too. I usually vape tobacco flavours. Some weeks ago, I tried some apple/cinnamon from a friend, and I felt those symptoms coming back, even with 50:50 ratio liquid.

My advise: try switching to a less PG liquid first. If that does not work, then try changing flavours, maybe keeping the low PG ratio.

Good call on juice flavor. +10.

I used to vape strawberries based juices, and now i get a soar throat when i vape strawberries based juices. Similar to drinking tea with lemon. In other words, some juice flavors with fruit flavors that are similar to real fruits with high acid, will also be harsher to vape.

OP.

try cutwood unicorn milk 3mg or 6mg. or any juice with cream type of mix or with blueberries, since blueberries by nature are less acidic.

You could try tobacco based flavors with no fruit flavors or with Mellon, but keep the Nic low at around 6mg.
