Water-Water-Water.

You can't drink enough water when quitting smoking--let alone when vaping. Combine the two and you will need a half gallon to a gallon a day to flush out the toxins from years of burning tobacco and to rehydrate your body.

Yep. Just drink more water, and it's likely his symptoms will subside.

My husband was doing great giving up the analogs. Six weeks later (four cig. free), he's complaining about his nose drying out so much it bleeds and is scabbed over inside and his throat hurts/dry/rasp. Anybody else experience these symptoms? Is it too high nicotine, not enough water, the PG is messing with him, gunk is getting cleaned out of his system? I'm just not sure what to do for him, but he's threatening to go back to analogs because of how he's feeling. He's using Aspire ego batteries with clearomizers, 50/50 ejuice with 12/18mg. He really likes vaping, and I hate for him to go back to those stupid cigarettes.

I was rasping heavily when I first quit smoking. I was told it was my lungs cleansing themselves from all the years of ash and tar. It lasted for two weeks in my case. I would see a doctor about the nose bleed.

Try to find Ayr Nasal gel at walgreens.
My husband, mother and I all started vaping in NOV. 2013 In the midwest....house closed up and furnace on... DRY...

I don't think the scab in my nose healed until almost the end of the next summer....I KNOW....too much information!!

My husband had nose bleeds and my mother never had any issues at all.

We were prepared this year when the furnace went on. ....AYR saline gel....it really helped...I don't remember who suggested it but it was on this forum.

Good luck:toast:

I did get him the gel and saline solution. He just started it yesterday. I know those horrible scabs in the nose take forever to heal. Thanks.

I had the same thing in my nose and sinuses when i vaped 90% PG for a week; inside was rough and scabbed over, felt burned, also my throat, and I got a lot of nosebleeds before that healed. If he is particularly sensitive to PG, I'm sure it could do the same thing at a much lower percentage.

More water, saline nasal spray, tissues with lotion in them, and less PG in the vape, should fix it within a week or 2. It takes a while to heal.

Thanks. It's stinks that you went through that, but nice to know this wasn't just him. I may have to order 85% VG.

An Innokin iTaste 16 would likely give a much better quality vapor, and cheap to try.

Not impressed at all with aspire as they tend to just turn the liquid to a mist not a good quality vapor. I quit hacking after I quit using my nautilus.

Also possible allergy to the eliquid is something to consider.

Hmm, I'll look into that one. I'm just learning right now and there is so much to choose from. But I have seen the Innokin brand and good things have been said about them. Thanks.

Thanks for all the replies. I encouraged more water, bought him saline nose spray and gel. I'm going to tell him to dab his nose with a little cold pressed virgin coconut oil. We just got some 65 VG/35 PG ejuice started using yesterday. There has also been a ton of pollen in the air (San Antonio is notorious for kicking up allergies), so that might be causing more problems. Get Your Jollies is his flavor of choice at the moment, but he wasn't having any problems with Green Apple. So I'm going to order Green Apple, 6 mg. nic (in case the higher nic. is giving him problems) and 85% PG. Good thing I love him, because researching this has taken a lot of time. But it's great to have him off those darn cigarettes. This forum rocks, BTW. Everyone is so helpful. Cheers to all.

85% PG might distress him even more.

He is a lucky man to have such a caring wife keep us updated if any of this stuff helps.

No, no custard. All fruit flavors. I'm thinking it's the PG.He was vaping 50/50. I just ordered some 65/35. I'll go higher VG if that doesn't work.

all the info is relevant here.

we've been through this experience with 3 of us in this house and 2 in another state at the same time. i was the coach and information collector.

bottom line is vaping dries out the mouth, throat and sinuses. the body eventually adjusts, but it may take a while. everyone's different.

also... although i wouldn't throw around the word allergy like is often a go to, there are sensitivities to be concerned with. citrus fruit flavors were a big one that all 5 of us found compounded our issues.

so definitely hydrate more.

a great idea would be to isolate as much as possible. it would be prudent to order unflavored juice in different pg/vg ratios to nail down the pg/vg without flavoring being a concern.

then when that's nailed down, add the flavors back in that pg/vg ratio that works best for him. if the problem worsens or re-occurs, that flavor is off the menu... or at least minimize use and continue as a treat only.

the saline nasal spray is a good idea.

the coconut oil is a fantastic "herbal" remedy that the body and the nasal passage ways respond very well to.

and lastly, if all else fails, be sure to check out that nasal slime coat thing that was mentioned above. can't have too many tools in your tool box.

ETA: also, be very meticulous about making sure not to get dry or burnt hits. it multiplies this issue. things get ugly real quick when this area is irritated and you get a dry hit. so make sure his wicks stay wet.... very, very important right now.

and be very meticulous about oral hygiene right now. the more often the vapor film is brushed and gargled out, the better. i like cepacol mouthwash for when the mouth and nasal passages are compromised.
