Yeah lol, I just need something small that can easily get in and out of my work jeans. There's nothing better out there for me at work and for the price.

Same for me I don't do TC use GS Air-M own 1.5ohm built coils with Kanthal and the vtc mini is the best mod I have owned so far.
Yeah it's a great mod...after I had TC troubles I didn't even wanna use the thing, because I was so disappointed with it. But I've gotten over it now and I use it a lot in wattage mode. I still love it
Can't beat the form factor, the weight, the power, the software...Bought mine at Fasttech, it is the UD 316L Wire. I love the UD spools and their wires are great. Maybe not an option for you as you might have to wait a few weeks till you get it
They added support for stainless steel wire and redesigned the display to show more info.
the update to use SS wire in TC is nice. I've been using 26g SS 316 since yesterday locked @ 0.51 and, it vapes great and, the resistance hasn't moved (knock on wood)
I think I will hold out for a bit still, but I may look at getting an evic in a few months, maybe by then the TC issues will be put to bed. I love my D2, even if it does have some design drawbacks. If I can get my hands on a reliable VTC mini that TC works well, I can't see why I would keep using my D2 really. Menu/Screen is nowhere near as nice, battery door is not all that great, lack of SS mode and have to use work around for voltage step down. The VTC mini takes care of all of that, but TC works flawlessly on the D2 so it wins for me right now.
Glad to see SS mode working well so far for people. New colors coming are cool, although I like my mods & tanks to be black mainly. I wonder how the Tron tanks will go, since the Ego ONE Mega did not impress me a lot.

If you haven't tried it, the clr head are night and day better than the cl heads that come with the kit by default.

I'm not a mac guy but the first thing I would do is try a different cable and check the usb port on the Mini in case some dirt or fluff is preventing connection.
I got a mid 2012 MacBook Pro with El Capitan. Haven't downloaded the new 2.0 yet though. I was going to try it tonight after work. Last update I did was 1.2 and went flawlessly. I'll keep you posted.
Thanks guys. I'll check the USB ports on the Mac and the two cables I've got and see if that's where the problem is.

If you haven't already, try the cord that came with the device in the box. Lots of micro USB cords out there don't have the data wires installed. Only the power wiring for charging devices. I've run into that issue before with some of my cords.
Yeah I wish they'd put out a silver one. I like neutral colors so they match all my tanks. Even white might look goofy with a couple of my tanks, though I considered it.
I have the white one. All my stainless tanks and drippers look great on it. Black tanks look even better. I like the storm trooper look with a white mod and black tank.
I've been following this thread quite awhile and I went back and forth between the VTC Mini and D2 also. I ended up choosing the D2 and have not regretted it. The screen is much nicer on the VTC Mini, obviously, but it doesn't bother me since I don't spend much time looking at it. I do like that the screen on the D2 is nicely recessed, so no worries about scratching or breaking. I also like the more rounded shape of the D2, but the thing it doesn't have is upgradeable firmware, which is a great selling point.
I've been thinking it seems that the kinks have been worked out of the more recent runs of the VTC Mini and close to just buying one until I heard about the new VTC Mini. I thought I'd wait for the newer model until I saw this...
The new Wismec Presa 75w TC
It doesn't have SS TC yet, but it is upgradeable, so I would expect it to have it soon. Like I said, I love my D2, but would like another compact mod and now trying to decide on the new VTC Mini or the new Wismec Presa. The decisions just get tougher....
With the updates that Joyetech keeps pushing out. I would choose the Evic every time. It's not even a close decision in my mind...a no brainer.
