First newbie Question! IPV4 and new Aspire 40 Amp Battery

Status
Not open for further replies.
So, I had pre-ordered the black IPv4 and received it no problem from VapeNW. Ordered 4 LGHE2 to keep married and swapped out. All that sounds good right with those batteries? I'm running mostly Goblins a Chthulu around .3-.5 ohm builds.
My IPv4 started reading check atomizer non-stop and after a quick internet search it was evident that there was a batch or more of blacks that had this problem. Contacted VapeNW Warranty good send back.
Meanwhile my impatience self ordered a silver IPv4 in which I've received.
My question is I've got to have 4 more batteries and I really want something that last a little longer than the LG's are (yes they're legit ones). Some reviews I've seen say that the new aspire 40 amp batteries are lasting longer but I've not really heard anything about them in any fourm unless they're not selling them yet and just sending them out to reviewers. Ugh idk! I know the whole battery thing gets bet to death but I was just wondering if these where good? If so, how long do tne last? I don't chain vape but I can have my moments. Sorry for the long post newbie nerves!

Sadly more marketing bs.

The battery under tasting fails miserably at high amperage. While it ran at 40 amps safely the high drain killed the cell and the voltage drop made it practically useless anyways.

In a normal setup it should run fine, but with that kind of voltage drop under heavy load it could become dangerous in regulated mods having to pull excessive amperage to maintain the power/voltage settings
( again under heavy load/extreme outputs)

And add in no one knows where the cell is coming from before they rewrap it.

    Yea, it is dissapointing.
Technically it can handle it, but able to run at and able to run at well -Has become lost in marketing and thats a disturbing trend thats costing vapors money many dont have to waste.

You bring up a very good point!
I'm seeing cells that can appear to run OK at their rated current for the first cycle or two but if you continue to use them at that level, they very quickly become damaged (lose capacity, run hotter, run at lower voltage, etc.). Unfortunately, this means that a lot of the reviews we see don't tell us how the cell will actually perform in a device. It's almost like the cells are selected to give one great performance for the testers and then...well...who cares. Or, even worse, the cell might only be cycled once or twice by the reseller/distributor and they think they have an awesome cell. All speculation here, but....

Thanks for the welcome and the comments and especially for your technical input Thrasher,
Exactly why I asked before I buy. In the first review I watched it really couldn't be counted as a review when they say " man it hits really hard but, I don't have anything to test it with" and you're right my vaping budget is a little overboard right now so, I don't want to waste any more than I have to on Batteries but will spend good money on the right battery if that makes sense.
I do have 2 of the Samsung 25r batteries that I swap between my Heatvape Invader. I do like them which leads me to another question I guess. Since I've already been using the Samsungs is it to late to give the both a fresh charge and "marry them" to my IPv4? I've got several vtc4s I can swap between my Invader. I love that little thing by the way, catch myself using it all the time especially in TC mode.
    In summary
What's your best recommended batteries then for the IPv4 ( sounds like maybe the Samsungs)?
Can I in other words "Marry" the 2 Samsungs that I've been swapping in my invader to my new 2nd IPv4?

Right before I read your post... I was feverishly searching google for Mooch's post with the bench test results... Of course I found it, got all excited, pasted it into the reply box, but decided to read a little more just incase... And there it was in your post! lol

While i always appreciate being thanked or recognized for furthering others knowledge.

The real thanks goes too mooch and torchy.

Without them taking the time to do what they do while never asking for anything in return i wouldnt know what i know now. I collect the findings of others and try to do my best to spread that information so we can all enjoy the fruits of their labors. Be safe, be happy, vape on friends.

I know that question is not directed at me but, I do use the Samsungs in my IPV4. Personally, I would get a new set to marry for the IPV4 if you are able to. They are available many reputable places for $5 each right now. :2c:

It's directed to you too lol! I was just thinking to myself just get some more Samsungs and be done with it. I just wanted to make sure that I'm not missing something any better. I've been vaping for 2 years now and I'm just now get the nerve to start asking the masses. Everyone's opinion counts in my book and yours just counted first.

Thrasher, you are correct and I always like to give credit where it's due. So, thanks to you Torchy and Mooch for taking your time to do the testing that you do so that we the consumer are not deceived and in the end ripped off. In my world my customers trust me to make the right choice for them. In the end it's up to me to make sure that they are getting what they pay for. My hats off to you you guys. I'm so happy I decided to post for once. You guys rock!

So I need a final vote on batteries. Is it the Samsungs? Or?
    I have salemgolds answer- Samsungs-1

Sony VTC4 (Xtar offers a 30amp rewrap of the the VTC4 as well)
    Orbrtonic SX30 (30amp)
    LG HE2/HE4 (20amp)
    Orbtronic SX22 (22amp)
    MXJO (20 to 25amp I assume 20amp)
    Samsung 25R (20 amp)

I run both MXJO and Samsung 25R pairs in my IPV3 and Sigelei 150watt and they handle load very well, though I rarely go above 80watts anyway, even more rare I go the full 150watts on each mod with those batteries.

    hth.

The LGs or the Samsungs are the only ones that you want from those choices ;)

Oops, I thought that I was quoting the OP. Apologies but still......I just don't like or trust rewraps

Samsung 25r's are touch and go. for higher amps, go Sony. for lower amps, Samsungs perform slightly better.

If you want something to last longer, go with a mod that has more than one battery. Running higher amps, the voltage drops are so close, that you really can't tell the difference in a regulated mod. Unregulated, the Sony VTC 4's hold their charge longer.

I personally run both VTC4 and the Samsung 25r's on my single battery cloupor mini, and to be honest, I can't tell the difference between which lasts longer. I have a pair of MXJO's that should come tomorrow or the day after, so I can't vouch for those yet, but I have heard good reviews.

And, when it comes to marketing, There is no 18650 battery that has a true rating of over 30 amps. If you see ANY rating over 30, it's a "pulse" rating. Pulse ratings are not regulated or specified, so their pulse might be .5 seconds, or 5 seconds. Unfortunately, you cannot accurately judge by the Milliamp hours either... For some, their milliamp hours are rated at a low amp draw, others at a higher amp draw. The only company that I have trusted for their specs, is Samsung and Sony. Other than that, I look at discharge rates and cycle rates that others have posted to determine the true specs of the battery.

I say +1 for Samsungs, +1 for Sonys.

I've always used them and very good reliable battery.
I rate them higher than the samsungs
