What's the big deal with charging them in the ipv4?

I just prefer trusting the charging circuit in a dedicated device over the built in charging circuit in something primarily built to do something else. All personal preference.

Hello and welcome to the forum @dstewart. Glad to have you here!:)

Sigelei recommends 30A CDR batteries for their 150watt mod.

Edit: 20A or 30A batteries can be used in the IPV4

30A CDR is the highest amp battery available. Any battery labeled 35A, 38A, 40A, etc is labeled with the "pulse" not the continuous. From @Baditude's blog: Purple Efest Batteries not as Advertised

Here are some options:
1. Orbtronic SX30 2100mah 30A
2. Sony VTC4 2100mah 30A (there are no new stock authentic VTC5's out there that I know of)
3. Xtar 2100mah 30A (re-wrapped Sony VTC4)

Edit: Added 20A batteries
1. AW 1600mah 24A
2. Orbtronic SX22 2000mah 22A
3. LG HE2 2500mah 20A
4. Samsung 25R 2500mah 20A
5. AW 2200mah 20A (new)

BATTERIES - WHERE TO BUY

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* RTD Vapor
* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics
I have found some very good battery selections on Ebay

The selection may be phenomenal, but most batteries on ebay are fake/rewrapped. You may pay 25 bucks for a pack of 4 VTC4s, but you may end up getting 4 low end ICR batteries that are reprinted/rewrapped and blow up as soon as you try pushing them anywhere near 15 amps. WAYYYY too many counterfeit batteries on there to even take the risk. Sure, you may manage to find legit ones and save 10 bucks. At the same time, you may waste 40 or 50 bucks buying junk batteries that are useless, or worse, have one of them explode in your hand/face.

Thanks for that info.
Yep I just definitely wouldn't want anyone getting hurt whenever someone does something unsafe and gets hurt it puts a bad stigma on vapers and the community so do the best you can to get good advice get good equipment and vape safe, I'm guilty of bargain hunting stuff buts that's why I came here and asked because I know batteries are a crucial part and one of the bigger safety concerns if you use the incorrect one for your setup

I'd be wary of a $6 vtc4. They're also selling vtc5's for $9.99 when there are none left. Just saying. I suppose there's a chance that they're authentic, but they won't get my money.

VTC5s have been starting to pop back up again. Orbtronic also has them, but their price is higher. The VTC4s over at Orbtronic are 7.12 each if you are ordering a pair or more of them. Order 5 or more and they drop even further in price. I would trust buying from either place.

IN STOCK! Sony VTC5 2600mAh 30A 18650 High Drain rechargeable battery 3.7V

I opt for vtc 4s and the samsung 25rs.. The SX30 from orbtronics really are much better 20A judging from the battery test that was posted in this forum. At 30A they well.. they suck. You could also get xtar vtc4's although I think they now manufacture their own 25A cell since the end of sonys production because they were originally rewrapped vtc4s.

I have a few VTC5s left but I have seperated them amnd use them in my mechs, for all my boxes I use Samsung 25r's Pairs and never had any problem at all with them, also have the LG2's but prefer the 25r's , I use them in my Sig 100, 150, and Snow wolf. at .3 I don't think you would have a problem with them.
There is a lot of stuff floating around the net saying all vtc5 are counterfeits and that Sony doesn't actually make vtc5 is there truth to that because I have seen them on illumn.com and questioned that?

    Those SX30's I tested were button-top. I don't know if the flat top version will be a better performer or not but since there's no spot-welded button on the flat tops there is a chance that the voltage under load won't be as low. I'm not too confident that the high temperature when discharging at 25A-30A will change any though (and the damage that causes).

    I think the Intellicharger is a good choice. I personally went with the Digicharger D2 just because it was the same price as the I4, but it gave me the digital display and more info than just the I4 does. Granted, I can only charge two batteries at a time, but I just make sure I always keep at least one pair fully charged so I can run my others through the charger when I have time. With the way I have been vaping, I am easily getting 3 days out of a pair of batteries. At that rate, I have plenty of time to charge up all of them. If you haven't bought a charger yet, it gives you another option to consider. If you already have the I4, use that one and don't bother looking back. You will be good to go either way.
