Question! I just asked Karolina Dam about this idea I had... Saturday the 14th, ‪#‎euecigban‬ goes silent. We ask EVERYONE not to tweet a #euecigban message on Saturday, ALL day... (well at least the majority will be in the know not to) and then when the twitterbomb goes live at 8pm the next day, there will be almost 30+ hours of (near) complete silence... it will help with the effect of "making some noise" on sunday? What do you guys think?

I hope some of you especially Canadian Vapers, we know you are here and you don't have much representation in the EU however here is an opportunity to join the rest of us Americans, Europeans with this TWITTER BOMB for the Sunday after the SILENT Saturday.

Little story of how an activist is made:

Heck I am 53 years old.
I never was an activist.
I never cared for politics, I just lived my life, with many of my interests out of mainstream, like keeping pet rats and attending Renaissance Fairs in medieval garb, inviting and visiting friends, reading books, things like that - just a private person living my life in the way that I like, for myself, in the company of those who are like me - without any interest in sound bites, TV trends, Justin whatshisname, political blathering and the lies that the media feed us every day to keep us docile.
F... orget that silly mainstream crap whose only purpose is to dumb us down. I was not interested. I just lived my life.

Yeah, sure, I knew that the media lie to us.
I had discovered 2 massive manipulation campaigns in the media in my country over the last 20 years.
My reaction? Not to watch that junk. Not to give them my mind to pour their poison into, thank you very much.

But then - I started to vape.
But then - I discovered the very positive reaction of my own body to switching to vaping and stopping the inhalation of poisonous gas.
And then - I saw, I heard and I read the lies, the fabrications, the junk science employed in a massive campaign of manipulation and FUD in my country (starting Dec 2011)
- with the sole intention of enticing smokers to keep smoking poisonous tobacco smoke
- with the sole intention of making people turn away in fear from the 99% less harmful alternative to smoking tobacco
-- with the sole intention of keeping human beings addicted to tobacco smoke to fill the pockets of the rich and powerful.

In the meantime, this whole campaign to keep filling the pockets of the rich and powerful to the detriment of the health of ordinary people has escalated into an attempt to forbid free speech for all the citizens of the European Union.
A breach of the Constitution - hidden away in a "Tobacco Directive" (!) that is pushed by un-elected beaurocrats in some office building in Brussels. A breach of the constitutional rights of each and every citizen of any country that is part of the European Union.

Am I an activist now?
Am I standing up for my constitutional right of free speech?
Am I standing up for my right to consume a product that is about as "harmful" as the coffee that I drink in the morning?
Am I standing up for my rights as a citizen of a democratic country - against a handful of corrupt beaurocrats in some office building?

Same here (down to TNG and Renaissance fairs ). Never wanted to be bothered with politics. I'm more than a little ashamed that I didn't get angry enough to fight a long time ago, while I was still a smoker. I respect Audrey Silk from NYC more than I can say.

I never thought in a million years I'd have need for Twitter. I've been swearing off Facebook since it's inception. If I wind up getting an account there, it'll be my version of self-immolation in the name of the cause.

Point is, they can't get me back to sleep now. And the people who know me aren't being allowed to walk around with illusions about the nature of tobacco control as it relates to "public health" anymore. Vapers aren't solitary humans. We have friends and family and they talk to other people too. My biggest supporter now used to be the worst bully when it came to my smoking. She's become sympathetic to smokers even.

This doesn't just concern Europe though it concerns vapers worldwide,you only have to look at the growing list of cities (US) & whole countries (Egypt) etc.that are banning E cigs,it's frightening & the ripples are going to be felt everywhere.

We as vapors MUST show a united front worldwide,to show that we will not take this lying down,that we will not be bullied either by BT or BP,or our so called ELECTED representatives

I personally refuse to fill BPs coffers anymore with my smoking related diseases, & lets not forget that's just another reason they dont wish to see us healthy,it's the gift that just keeps on giving, years of drugs to keep us alive (notice I said alive & not healthy) unfortunately 'healthy' is not cost effective.

Hello all!

I thought you may be interested to know that in addition to the twitter bomb I also got in contact with my local MEP on the 2nd and today I recieved reply. If anyone is interested in reading it I can post that reply either here or create a new thread for all to see how he shrugged of his ability to effect any change and to me almost suggest that "a light touch medicinal approach" to e-cigs is pretty much imminent.
