No. Not your yard.

But if the intruder has crossed the threshold of the residence and is still in the process of ingress, then yes.

If an intruder is attempting to leave, e.g., crawling out a window, then no.

No lethal force can be used to protect property.

Only sufficient force necessary to repel an agressor may be used to protect your person. You can not kill to protect yourself from a punch in the nose.


It is presumed that if an intruder is entering or has entered your residence, the likelihood that he means to kill you is highly probable and lethal force to defend is permitted.

Again, general black law rule.

sedge, depends on which state you are in. Some states do not restrict you to the inside of your dwelling and allow it if you are protecting your property or your family. Not saying it would be easy to defend in court during a personal lawsuit, just that it would not be an infraction against the law.
