Just thinking through the woodworking involved it looks a lot less labor intensive.
Not saying I could do it though.
There's a hell of a lot fewer parts to make; and, therefore, a lot less alignment/matching of those parts, machining to receive those parts, detailing-gluing-flushing-assembling-maintenance-troubleshooting questionmarks, yada . . . .. yada.
I couldn't have done the internal machining of the body when I first started. That's just me and what tooling I have. Someone else mighta-coulda just fine. But, somewhere along the line there, in getting the chops to always get the machining right every time, I got to where I could do this (not just once, by accident, but every time on purpose). Pro'ly it was a while ago; but this whole internals layout and overall design just came out of me now. There's very little in it that's "original". I don't think I invented anything here. I think I just took the same "ingredients" that everybody has available and made "This" particular soup with it. A lot of the applications are a conglomerate of a lot of bits and pieces I've seen on the forum and around.
I would also say that this one will be a lot easier for modders to DIY. So, this design is actually also kind of a "gift" to those who can do it themselves, or tweak the idea into something that their tooling and skills will allow for.
