See I actually got a reply from Kangertech on their forum (the thread was still not visible on forum on 11/23):

My reply (which will not be visible on forum until approved by moderators):

You are incorrect sir. Coils will still burn out without the probe installed on a dry coil. The cotton never even should have burned at all under a setting of 300 deg F and it should not even have scorched until it was above 500 f.

Denying the total failure of temperature control in these devices is dishonest and does not serve anyone. please be honest about the faults in the device and answer my question. I myself had the issues I experienced which you never even addressed which never should have occurred in a properly functioning unit. Every person I have read about on multiple forums has recognized that this device simply does not work in temperature control properly. A few ECF users have tested identical settings on dry nickel coils at 300f and reported the coil destroyed itself. You are not fooling anyone!

Kangertech rushing this unsafe device to market in this manner will greatly adversely affect the vaping communities fight with legislators all over the world for the unregulated availability of these devices to remain on the market. When a manufacturer with the worldwide reputation of Kangertech releases an unsafe product to market in this manner with out an immediate recall, it will only provide the FDA, World Health organizations and legislators around the world with the ammunition they need to ban the availability of these devices altogether! This irresponsible behavior will not be tolerated by the community you serve. You should be ashamed of yourselves!

I want to know what Kangertech will do for customers who have received malfunctioning units and when properly functioning units will be emerging from your production lines.

I see Breazy went and shipped the Red one I had ordered, but placed on shipping hold pending confirmation of correctly working units being shipped by Kanger. Not sure if that means they screwed up and shipped it by accident or if they actually instituted the random testing of units received from Kanger to ensure that a fix was indeed instituted according to the criteria I recommended and it passed the TC test.

My guess is the former. I'll have the Red one by Thursday and I'll figure it out then.

Just as another data point, I just picked up a Nebox today without having read this thread. It seems to be working fine with the stock coils in TC. I have experienced a few times where I pressed the button and it took a second to actually start vaping. Other than that, it works pretty well for me so far. I will continue using and report back.

Are all your coils resistances reading correctly with your device then? Do you find the temp u set on the nebox is equal to the settings you use on other mods?

Coils are reading correctly, but I do notice I have to set lower temps than I do on other devices. On my Yihi Mini M, I am happy around 350F and on the Nebox I need to set at about 280F. But the temp control does its job at this lower setting and I find the vape consistent.

Mine reads all over the place with pre made coils and now even with the rba in I'm getting weird things going on in tc. Today it started pulsing whilst vaping, like it's firing then stops then starts then stops but really quickly. Not all the time but usually after a couple of back to back vapes! Anyone else had similar?

Had that with old square coils when nebox read their resistance wrong. I referred to it as rattlesnaking full on power to full off power.

Mixed feeling about this one. Joyetech is apparently way too married to that stupid Joy wheel control. Really wanted them to upsize this with the Evic Control Panel.

eGrip VT - Joyetech

Cool, nice find. Don't care anymore about asthetics I just want an all in one tc device that works. Still no replacable battery though and it's still only 1500mah. And who gives a crap about a removable chimney, it was never exactly rocket science to wash out the tank on the egrip.

I wondered if it was the same, only the build in the rba has been solid so don't know why it's started now!? Gutted the new egrip won't be an alternative to the nebox was really hoping they would step up this time.

Check to see if your screws loosened up in the RBA with the temperature changes.

Joyetech announcement is a bitter disappointment. The device as announced has its place in the market but Joyetech still doesn't seem to get it. We want the easily replaceable 18650, upgradeable firmware, Larger tank, respectable mtl & full lung hit capable airflow coils without silicone caps that taste like monkeys .... when heated and a proper size RBA that we can build on without a magnifying lamp or microscope that doesn't leak all over the place.

We almost have a better shot of Kanger fixing their temperature control implementation than of Joyetech taking the best of what they already produce and combining it into the perfect all in one device. Sad really.

Right on! Especially the bit about monkeys butts as that appears to be who they employ to design these things! Ive had to butcher my egrip to get a decent airflow out of it and it still comes with that tiny screw! Why oh why can't they just merge the vtc and the egrip for crying out loud.
Speaking of the vtc, you using yours much now or is it redundant since you got the Reuleaux? Only ask as it's getting slated in the other thread for more issues in tc but my 2 are now daily drives and rock solid.

I keep my 3 Evics in a vape case organizer (left w/ OCC Pads, CM coiler & Wire) with a dx200 & an IStick TC40 in my laptop computer backpack bag. Have another organizer for 3 drilled egrip OLEDs & Juice bottles in the same backpack. I always use a 3 flavor rotation so I don't wind up with vapors tongue. When I leave the house a laptop & the computer bag go with me everywhere. At home I am pretty much using the two Nebox, a VS200 & Reuleaux. Nebox hits the road with me in my shirt pockets in place of the Egrips now.

The Evics do get some use, but not as much as they used to. Never had a problem with TC on them

Follow up: removed head to fill. When I put head back on, it read higher ohms than when new. Let it rest a few hours, still reading high. Surprisingly, it actually seems to work in TC better than it did before. I had to bump the temp up a few notches.

I've also noticed that it is sometimes extremely slow to start producing vapor from when I push the button. Maybe 3 times out of 10 it won't fire at all; I get a flashing battery icon. Another 3/10 it fires perfectly. It's those 4/10 fires that are slow to ramp up that are odd.

Conclusion: my Nebox is certainly a bit wonky in TC but it does seem to do the job so far when it comes to keeping the temp consistent. That's if it fires at all. I conclude this software is not very good at regulating the power in TC mode. bery inconsistent. Still. I like the form factor. I'm holing I hear of other people's success in getting this swapped out for a unit that works better.

Next I will change out the head to one of the older square BVCs to see how that works. I'll keep you posted

That base resistance not reading correctly is the biggest part of the problems. Especially when you apply wattages in the higher ranges to minimize preheat times. When my base resistance is off by more than a few ohms, that is when I get rattlesnaking TC above 45W - 50W.

I've been pressing my vendor to get answers from kanger as to what's going on but it ain't gonna happen. Think my second unit is going back for a refund until there is a working version available.
