Right behind you...
MODZ Pack dna 40 mod w/ Temperature Control Function - $61.77 and $47.53. Don't know what the difference is for the price, except some wire with the $61.77 one??? Doesn't say the wire is nickel...

That's a Hana clone enclosure, so I wouldn't classify it as itty or bitty, it's mid-sized.

DEPTH 24.5 mm
HEIGHT 88 mm
WIDTH 48.7 mm
WEIGHT 119 g (sans 18650)

And yes, you'll need nickel wire for TC, there's just no getting around that using existing atomizers.

Just checked ebay 4 left . Sorry for hijacking thread I'll shut up now. I'm new here and excited lol.
And all I see for the kamry 30 so far is no Size specs looks like an istick for the most part but a little more squared I like it. Def. A itty-bitty mod for size, you can tell in pics

1.atomizer connector:510 thread

2.Variable Wattage from 7W-30W

3.OLED screen shows battery power, puffs, wattage, voltage, atomizer resistance

4.Fit for 0.2 ohm~3.0 ohm atomizers

5. High temperature protection. If the device is over 70 degree the device, will shut itself down

6.Mic USB connecter, more convenient to charge

I have had a Kamry 20 for a while now and really like for a take to work mod. It is larger than the iSticks (which I love) but much heavier duty!

I don't want to sub ohm!!! I don't want 50 and 100 and 260 watt batteries! I don't want to lung inhale--my lungs have suffered enough. I don't want drip tips with 12mm bore! I'm not a chimney!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want Kanger to make single OCC coils that are easy to rewick and will work in my Aerotanks and my Emows.

I want Aspire to make cotton coils so I can get a Nautilus!

I want Joyetech to make a Delta III for normal people!

I want a clean vape at 8-12 watts, good flavor, nice airflow.

End rant. I feel better now.

Carry on! :)

You tell em-- I'm with ya!

According to a contact I email sometimes at Innokin, it seems the main reason why Innokin kept the MPV v3 large is because they wanted to keep the power bank feature of the MVP. I wonder how many people these days really use the MPV as a power bank and if these days anyone that does really prefers a powerbank over a small mod. Time will tell for innokin if they made the right move but I say they made a mistake not playing the "mini" game. The 2 reasons why I didn't bother buying the 20W and have no interest in the v3 is because they are too large and heavy and I prefer a changeable battery. IT is for the latter reason that, although I love my iStick 20W, I will never buy another once it dies since they are more or less "disposable" units unless you want to tear it down and replace the battery. Not sure I wanna do that but I might try. I saw a tear down of the iStick 20W and it's just an 18650 inside.

As far as these new sub-ohm tanks are concerned, please read what I have to say before you spend your money (at least for those that are mouth-to-ling hitters and don't care for or want to lung hit).

I bought an Atlantis as I was a little curious about sub-ohming. Found that I don't like to vape at anything above 15 or 16W. But what really made the purchase a waste of money was that the airflow, even at the lowest setting is too airy for a nice mouth hit. Sure, you can set it so that you only have a half a hole open, but it isn't that great because in order to get a decent voltage (because the only option you have is a sub-ohm coil at 0.5 ohms), you have to vape it at a higher wattage, which in turn makes for a weak vape and therefore not satisfying at all. At least not for me. Let's say you set your device at 23W. That sounds high. But at 0.5 ohms, that's only 3.69-3.7 volts. It makes for a week vape yet still warmer than 15W & 5.32v on a 1.8x phm nautilus coil.

So I tossed it aside. I am hoping they come out with a 1.2 ohm or 1.5 ohm coil as I think then I might be able to use the Atlantis satisfactorily with the smallest hole set to half closed.

Then the subtank Nano came out and it got me thinking. Since it has a 1.2 ohm coil option, maybe it would be a good vape. NOT. At least not for me. And here's why. Again, same with the Atlantis, even the smallest airflow hole is too large for mouth hitting. So I set it to half a hole and found there is another down side. The smaller I make the airflow, the more pronounced the flavor. I believe this has to do with the design of the coil head and possibly the fact it uses OC but I'm not sure. But I do know that the flavor is so intense that I can't take it. Mind you, I am using juices I used for clearomizers and Nautilus tanks which are 70/30 and 50/50 pg/vg mixes. Maybe if I use higher VG or at least lower flavored liquids I my actually like these tanks better. But as far as mouth hit, not very good.

So, 2 tanks sit on my shelf. Actually, the only thing I found that was a positive for both tanks is that I found I love wide bore tips. So I use both the Nano and Atlantis tips on my Nautilus tanks. I simply adore using the Atlantis tip on my Nautilus. :vapor: The flavor on this tank at my PG/VG ratios is perfect for me and the wide bore tips really actually produce a better cloud than the standard hourglass-style tips that come stock on the Nautilus. I believe the taste is slightly better, too.

While I'm happy with my Nautilus tanks, I would like to find a similar tank with similar coils from other companies but have yet to find one. I know this is a topic for a different thread, but if anyone knows of one, please post. What I mean by Nautilus-like is not the juice capacity, but rather the size of the coil heads and the diameter of the coils. I really believe that the larger coil heads and larger diameter coils is what makes the Nautilus so much better at 14-16 watts at 1.8 ohms over, say a kanger dual coil or a regular Aspire BVC at the same ohm rating. These smaller coil heads, although you can buy them with lower ohm ratings as low as 1.0 ohms and therefore increase your V and W, are simply too small in size to really handle a good vape at 12 or 13W and above.

I have heard/read people calling the subtank Nano a "Nautilus killer" but nothing can be further from the truth. None of the 3 subtanks are really anything like a nautilus nor are they really the same class of clearomizer. Subtanks, as well as the Atlantis are totally designed for sub-ohming more than anything and certainly for lung hitters.

I had almost the exact same experience with the Kanger subtank. It took me all of about 20 minutes to find that I absolutely hate the thing. And that goes for the 1.2 ohm OCC as well as the .5 ohm. I really wish I'd bought an Aerotank or even a Nautilus instead.

Agreed completely. Mouth-to-lung vapers have had great choices on the market for six months in the Aspire BVCs and Nautilus BVCs. The concern over the wicking material is fair. Aspire seems to be addressing this with new organic cotton heads. Will we see them in the Nautilus BVCs or smaller BVCS? Only Aspire knows and they've been tight-lipped to the public as to their plans on this matter.

Kanger has great clearos for the mouth-to-lung vapers in the Aerotanks, GeniTanks and EMOWs. Many enjoy the BDC heads currently available. Rebuilders know the value of better built Kanger heads. Let's hope Kanger, or some other enterprising company releases improved OC heads for those unable or unwilling to rebuild. The Kanger clearos deserve a better head.

I TOTALLY agree with both of you. But Allen, what I am fearing from what I see happening in the industry lately is that sub-ohming and lung-hitting setups will dominate the market to the point of little to no product innovation on the other products that got vapers like us us through it til now. I'm still growing as a vaper. Hell, just weeks ago had you asked me I would have told you I would never go to a box style, setup over my eGos. But I did. And I love it. But the choice of clearomizers for people like me is very limited. Aerotanks, EMOWs, Aspire BVD just don't cut it very well at the 15 or so watts I prefer. Only the Nautilus is suited well for me at that wattage. Perfectly fine with Nautilus, but I would like to see more options from other companies.

But to get back to my fear...

I fear that the manufacturers might have realized how hard and expensive it is to cater to the older, ex-smoker crowd who wants simplicity and does not to partake in a hobby. It's easier to sell to many of the cloud-chasers and techies. They know what to do and they don;t expect warranties. Babyboomers and even genXers who want simplicity also want good warranties and the ability to return stuff. I fear china is neglecting this market. I don;t blame them from a capitalism standpoint, but it ain't good for the rest of us who are already into this came.

I mean, look that iStick 20W. It came out, caused a roar. Then they came out with the 10W, which to me, is of no value after trying vaping with a nauti at 15W. But then, everyone started coming out with 30W & 50W sub-ohm mini devices. Istick finally releases their 30W. All of a sudden...where is the iStick 20W. It seems no one is carrying them and those that are carrying it seem to simply be selling through their stock of the pink and blue ones they have left.

I won't go into detail here as to how I know stuff as I got reprimanded for it. But suffice it to say, I have some contacts in the wholesale and manufacturing sectors of vape and what I see happening is less and less protanks, ET-s tanks, Aero tanks, etc being stocked (and to some extent, even nautilus) and more and more sub-ohm taking the place.

Will the moderate vaper community (as I have coined it just now) be neglected in order to cater to the cloud-chasing/vaping-as-a-sport crowd? From what I have been seeing, that looks to be the case and that is bad news not only for the current moderate vapers but to those that want to get into vaping and ditch the cigs or at least supplement the cigs, Maybe I'm worrying about nothing, but I just see a trend i don't like.

Anyhow, I read all 100+ pages of this thread. Great thread. And I have to agree with the few posts about local B&Ms. The ones in my area all suck. All of them. Full of cloud chasers, HUGE markups, unknowledgeable help and just all around terrible CS. I wanted to get into the retail game, but I just don't have the capital. I want to open a shop that caters to women and older folks who want things as simple as possible...but capital is a huge issue for me. I don't know everything about vaping, but I know more than any local B&M in my area (especially the cigarette shops that now sell vape eqip- they are totally clueless) and I what cigalike and ego setups to carry that will satisfy moderate to heavy smokers, but alas, I have not the capital. Funny, those who have the best chance at business and money are those who already have it.

Anyhow,k I don't want to turn this into a business thread as I know from experience ECF frowns upon it, but I just wanted to say my piece about the direction the products are taking. There is a serious neglected market in this industry and it appears they may go even more neglected than ever before to the point where they either have to settle for a blu, vuse or whatever other bad performing brand walmart carries or just keep smoking analogs. I read an article somewhere last week that said that big tobacco is starting to see the downfall of their current products and will soon be stepping up to the plate with better ecigs. Hate to see big tobacco supplying the genX and babyboom markets with their stuff. It just bugs me. I never owned any big tobacco vape brand and I never will. It's just the principle of the matter.

Anyhow, I'm out...

Thing is CXM, your market is WELL SERVED, and it's still the mass market, but sales were getting moribund.

And face it, outside of temperature control there's very little topper innovation left for tight draw low wattage vapers, the physics of how you like to vape pretty much dictate that.

The market is highly suspicious of the one thing left for tight-draw-low-wattage-tootle-puffers that could be a "game changer" and that's better wicking materials. After Aspire got crucified, you can bet your last dollar that cotton, silica and rayon will be the marketable apex of wick technology for quite some time.

So you can't blame the players for finding a new audience, as it started a gold rush. Bigger prebuilt coils and more airflow need more voltage. Bam! 30w+ regulated mod sales increase dramatically. Bigger coils and more airflow uses more juice. Bam! Juice sales increase dramatically. People get out of their comfort zone and start thinking about more "advanced" vaping. Bam! RDA/RTA, wick and wire sales increase dramatically.

With increased sales, you get more and more people looking for a slice of that pie, so you get increased product selection, and lower price points as what used to be exotic is now mass market and benefits from more competition and economies of scale. It's a golden age.

But you know what? That same exact cycle happened just a year or so ago with the Nautilus and Aerotank, and the year before that, and the year before that, and goes all the way back to cigalikes being supplanted by eGo stick batteries and top coil clearomizers.

I do hear you, cxm322. If I didn't rebuild, I might be just as concerned as you. I am a moderate vaper, pushing my attys between 10 & 30W. I'm running clearos, RTAs, RDAs, 510 bridgeless attys and a carto tank as well. The iStick 20W is being phased out because the 30W is a far superior device at the same price-point.

If we take a look at other industries, it is always businesses, power-users and enthusiasts that drive new product cycles. The computer industry is a perfect example. Most people are well served by a five or six year old computer or a new one under $600. The market for high-end gear is much smaller but always gets the most attention. Heck we haven't seen many iStick 30W reviews from the big reviewers and it's been on the market for many weeks now. The higher-end gear is getting all of the attention.

Joyetech is not going anywhere anytime soon. They have always catered to the low to moderate wattage vapers. I can't believe that will stop. As long as vapers continue to purchase the gear we're talking about, companies will continue to design, make and sell it. Eleaf, as a Joyetech subsidiary, is also following suit. Eleaf's GS Air clearo has been getting rave reviews and it's exactly what you're talking about. It's just not getting much press or review time. Why? Probably because it's simply not "sexy". The Corvette has been Chevy's flagship model since 1953. There have been numerous, much less sexy models in the last 62 years that have exponentially outsold the 'Vette. It's pure marketing and Americans eat it up. "I want to buy a Chevy. They make the Corvette!"

Although we're talking about a young and unpredictable industry, I think the average vaper is going to be just fine. The waves of excitement tend to throw the market a little out of equilibrium. But it has always balanced itself out. The FDA, federal, state and local governments are far more likely to mess things up for us than the manufacturers.

Good luck!

Spot on, Katya. It usually comes down to the almighty dollar. If Kanger thought it could make reasonable money designing and selling new heads for their current/old clearos, I can't believe they wouldn't. NatureVape has been selling those coils for the Kanger BCCs for at least a year, long before any/most of the BDCs were released. It comes down to the company's expectation for the return on investment. If the few dollars NatureVape makes on those $9 heads isn't enough for Kanger, than another company will hopefully fill the void. One can also find some kid at the local B&Ms to rebuild the heads for $5-10 each. I can bang out a Kanger head in 15 min. At $7.50 profit each, that's $30/hr; still fairly decent money today.

I wouldn't count Kanger out yet. Remember that their original plan was to have the SubTank heads backwards compatible with their previous BDC clearos larger than 14mm. Best laid plans... Kanger now has to take what they learned from the SubTank, go back and design all new heads to replace their BDCs. Then the tooling needs to be designed and produced, materials sourced, etc. That takes time and needs to be prioritized within their entire business plan. I wouldn't be surprised if we see new Kanger heads come Spring for far less than $9 each. I certainly hope so. I'm still rebuilding Kangers for my dad, aunt, uncle and next-door neighbor, in addition to providing the homemade e-liquid. Hmmm... Maybe I should go into business.

Right on. Sooner or later they will realize that there is still a huge market for us tight-draw-low-wattage-tootle-puffers and there's money to be made there as well. Even though I don't like tight draw--I'd like a Kayfun-like tank with just a bit more airflow. Aerotanks are perfect--I just don't like dual coils. I'm still trying to figure out how to rebuild a Kanger DC as a single coil. Have you done that? I've seen people building oval coils--winding them around a zip tie or two 1/16 drill bits taped together. :p I may give it a try. Or just get a Lemo and be done with that.

I'm not counting them out; as a matter of fact, I'm counting on them--they are extremely prolific.

The thing is that there are nice tanks for low wattage vapers (6-8W) and now for very high wattage vapers. It's the middle class that is suffering--as usual. :D

I think you should go into business. :thumb:

I do rebuild doubles as singles. I just wrap 2.4mm coils. The resulting wick fills the openings well enough that there is no gurgling or leaking. I saw the video for the oval coil around cable ties. I just never needed to try it.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I see what you mean about the market getting thrown out of equilibrium for a while. I do hope that is all I am seeing. But I do believe, in general, that these manufacturers are clueless when it comes to designing products for the 1PAD+ smoker in the 40+ age range that do not want vaping to be a hobby and therefore need something as simple as possible with a good, satisfying vape, meaning good "smoke" production with good T. I do understand that PG/VG ration, nic level and such are part of the equation, but with the wrong hardware setup, these things mean nothing.

Funny you mention the ISmoka eLeaf GS Air as a Nautilus contender, I was just looking into that last week as a possible addition to my arsenal and almost bought it when I realized that in order to adjust the airflow you need a screwdriver. That's a deal breaker for me. I don't know why they thought that an adjustable airflow require a tool was a good idea but for the vast majority of the market it's not really a good idea at all. It's downright lame, in fact.

I adjust my airflow on my Nautilus frequently. When I am in a moving car, I require more airflow. You may find this odd, but I have noticed in the past few months that when I am vaping in a moving car, vapor production and throat hit are reduced. I find I require full open air on a nautilus for a satisfying vape. Same thing with just being outdoors, but not as noticeable in a moving car (yes, even with the windows closed). This is the case with any device, cigalike, APV or eGo. Well anyhow, since I frequently adjust the AFC, last thing I want is an AFC that requires a tool.

I think I will start looking into recoiling some Aspire BVC and Kanger Dual coil heads to see what I can do. I have a ton of these smaller tanks I used to use on my eGos but since I've turned up the wattage on my vaping to 15W or so, these types of tanks (ET-S, K-1, EVOD 2, Aerotanks, Protank, etc) just don't work well at 15W. But honestly, I wonder if it really is the coil. I really think that the real culprit is the low juice flow due to the smaller juice inlet holes on these smaller heads. These smaller coil heads simply aren't designed for that level of vaping on APVs at 15W. Making the holes bigger on the head cover probably won't work as this may end-up flooding the coil. But maybe a mixture of both recoiling and wider holes would do the trick. But after all that time spent, I may as well trash what I have and buy another couple nautilus tanks :)

Thanks. That will be my next project. Gotta find that 3/32 drill bit first.:)

The 'Burgh, PA.
When one or two of them wake up, they will realize that the next big market segment is for a mod that actually looks like it was designed as a consumer product.

something with curves and a small footprint that is really comfortable to hold. But - that actually requires creativity and talent.

Meanwhile, others are listening, making small well engineered mods with large mAh capacity, able to hit a 0.2 ohm, RMS and good threads, and make it for under $50. And they will sell thousands.

If this were Jeopardy...

What is the 50Watt-iStick???

What is this obsessive hatred you have for pool noodles, Kat.

All I know about pool noodles...cut 4 inches off the end of one...put it in your car's cup holder...you end up with a perfect (and well padded) Mod Holder. :headbang:

Will the moderate vaper community (as I have coined it just now) be neglected in order to cater to the cloud-chasing/vaping-as-a-sport crowd? From what I have been seeing, that looks to be the case and that is bad news not only for the current moderate vapers but to those that want to get into vaping and ditch the cigs or at least supplement the cigs,

How about "analog-convert vapists" in contrast to "hobby vapists" ???
