Need help to understand dripping with box mod

Dear all I would like to get your help. I recently started vaping been off cigarettes for almost 30 days now and I am in love with vaping. I took a friend's suggestion without doing any research on what to start with and I ended up buy the following:
Wismec Rx200 mod
Kangertech subtank mini
3 x MXJO 3000mah 35A batteries
and I have updated the firmware on my mod and it goes up to 250W now.

I would like to get a dripper and start with dripping. Furthermore, I noticed everyone and I mean everyone on Youtube and Threads using mechanical mods for dripping, so my question is could my Wismec rx200 handle dripping around the 0.1 Ohm mark or do I have to really get a mechanical mod. I would prefer using my box mod since I am already invested in. If the answer is yes and I assume it is. Is there any specific details I have to watch out for or keep in mind?
Any help would be appreciated. Moreover, it would be also great if the info I get is about my specific mod so I could rest assured I am not doing something stupid.

Hi there. This will be a lengthy post but I'll explain everything I can so you're well informed.

The first rule of dripping and coil building is safety. To my knowledge there are no 18650 batteries that can handle 35A there's a thousand spreadsheets out there that you can find that will show you the true battery ratings. (HG3 and VTC4 are about the best you can buy today)

Read up about the difference between series and parallel and make sure you know what your mod is. (Rx200 is chip regulated so if it fires it's fine. Just check what the lowest you can fire is by the manufacturer)

Mechanical mods are quite convenient as they apply a constant 3-3.5v (or 6-7v in series) depending on which mod and setup you use regardless of resistance. That's why some favor it.

As for rebuilding you NEED to know ohms law V=IR and know the true rating of your batteries.

For example in a mechancal mod with 1 18650 battery.
3V 0.1ohm is 30 amps which will fry most batteries.

Personally when I drip I make my builds to about 0.2 ohm. 7 wraps of 22 kanthal is one of the easiest and best builds you can do in 5 minutes. Which will be perfect for your rx200.

Hey there fellow vapor, I f it is your first build, I would not recommend getting 20 or 22g and building a .2 ohm coil for your first sub ohm. I would suggest Starting somewhere around .5 or .6 (try about 5 or 6 wraps of 26g kanthal around 2.5mm screwdriver. Definitely don't go for a mech mod with your "35a" batteries and take any chances with a .2 ohm build. I do agree with vyger on that, I haven't heard of any either.

Trust me, just because your device can push that kind of wattage and go that lower resistance, you wouldn't be happy vaping on a .1 at 100 - 250 watts all day long unless you have iron in your lungs and a water fountain in your throat, Trust me on that. Start at around 25-30w and work your way up til you find your sweet spot. I have an IPV4s and it can go up to 120W, but I haven't pushed it past 35w and personally don't feel the need to. Just My :2c:

Your RX will be much safer and easier to use than a mech mod, no matter what topper you use. I see little sense building below about .25 on a mech mod. Voltage drop kicks in and you don't actually gain anything. You can-- there's no real need, but you can-- get lower on your RX, if you want too. If you want to go mech, keep your dripper builds above .5ish on a one battery mod; and above about .35 or so on a two battery parallel box (series box, never go below .5, and .7 is a lot safer). You can build lower, but ramp time gets bad in a hurry with 22 or 24ga wire. I find 28 and 30 a lot more useful. But if high watts and low builds is where you want to be, the RX is a better tool than any mech can be.

Your mod certainly can fire a 0.1 ohm coil.

As a rule of thumb, I'd not attempt to push more than 80 watts per battery.

Those are probably older videos made in the days when there were not high powered regulated mods.

Thank you for the lengthy informative input. The batteries are rated at 35A are you saying that the might be misleading?

I totally agree and was wondering about this crazy wattage numbers those mods have. I never went above 50 watts on the subtank. You guys are making me confused with the batteries I will get you a link hold on.

Some of the people using mechanical mods to 'drip' on videos are doing it to look clever or because they are too cool to use a regulated mod.
(or they are just old videos)...

Truth is, it is far safer to use your RX200. :)
Yeah I was surprised trying to find anyone dripping with a mod and almost couldn't which made me think that box mods are not meant to be used with dripping and that's why I needed your help.

I use both an RX200 and a mechanical mod. I like both for different reasons. I use a uWell Crown tank with 0.25 factory-made coils on the RX200, and a Patriot rebuildable drip atomizer with 0.6 ohm coils which I make myself. This is my sweet spot. I've never understood the need to use lower resistance coils than this.

For someone who is a relatively new beginner to vaping, I'd definitely say stick with the regulated mod and leave the mech for later once you have some experience and have done your homework. Regulated mods like your RX200 have protection circuitry to keep you from blowing your face off, mech mods do not.

I will be looking at the forum that talks about the differences because that is what intrigues me the most. So before I do let me ask why would I buy a mechanical mod later if the RX200 does the same job? Or it doesn't ?

why must you drip around the 0.1ohm mark?

If it is about epeen I can honestly say that you will not notice a difference (assuming same# of coils, same wire type) between a 0.5ohm build and a 0.25ohm build except for maybe the amount of power you need to get a satisfying vape.

Your RX200 is fine with dripping. Buy an RDA (dripper), buy some regular Kanthal A1 coils (if you're into sub ohming and you got an RDA with a large deck, try 22, 24, or even 26gauge wires: larger gauge = thinner wires = relatively harder to build) and perhaps a coil building kit and start wrapping. Play around with steam engine coil wrapping tool (google steam engine vape) to get the desired resistance you want and go from there.
