Members - don't post about business ideas or proposals or requests for opinions or anything else related to selling ecig-related products, or you'll be classed as a vendor and banned from ordinary posting.

Let's just consider this a dream that didn't materialise.

And if it's about selling e-liquid then it's a bad dream, because the last thing we need right now is another vendor who mixes in their garage using cheap materials and has no money for testing their products and doesn't even figure the cost of testing EVERY retail product they make into the business model.

It takes a big investment to set up properly as an e-liquid vendor, the only people we know that did it right, starting from scratch, spent close to $100,000 just to get off the ground. You need controlled access facilities and thousands of dollars worth of equipment. Then you need a major investment in high quality materials. As soon as you've made something it needs testing, which is a major expense, and the bill will start at $5,000 if you just have a few products.

Go to Dow [1] and ask them how much a barrel of Optim is - this is the quality you need, if people are going to be inhaling your product.
Then go to Intertek [2] and ask them how much it costs for a high-quality 99% or 99.5% GC-MS / HPLC test of a bottle of e-liquid, then multiply it by the number of products (flavours) you plan on selling. Thirty flavours maybe? That's 30 tests you'll need, then.
Now go to Enthalpy Labs [3], and enquire about the cost of some vapour tests from an ecig, just to make sure your liquid doesn't convert to acrolein and aldehydes when heated on an atomiser coil.

Add that up and see if you can still afford to start up selling refills.

Don't even think about selling stuff people will inhale in large quantities, without having it tested first.

Don't even think about believing what upstream suppliers tell you about the quality - they lie.

Don't believe anything a flavour manufacturer says about anything, they are proven liars whose products kill in the downstream chain due to toxic inclusions they try to hide (google 'bronchiolitis obliterans diacetyl').

The last thing we need is another bathtub brewer churning out untested junk, we have too many doing that already thanks.

Think you can make a 10x or 50x profit on materials? Not after testing the products you can't.

AND DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT SELLING UNTESTED PRODUCTS
- WE HAVE ENOUGH COWBOYS ALREADY THANKS
