Sad, but true. I sure miss the hardware store we had here. I could actually find what I wanted, and it was good quality. Not to mention, the people there had knowledge of what they sold.

Every time Walmart announces plans to open a store in a community ...
Everyone seems to complain about they will push out the small businesses
and campaign to boycott Walmart promoting shopping at local stores.

Soon after Walmart opens ... Almost everyone is strolling up and down
the Walmart isles.

I don't have a Home Depot within 50 miles. I depended on hardware stores to get my tools. Now it's cheap Wally World crap, or drive 50 miles to pick up only few items.

WalMart = Dewalt? No! Starrett? No! Eswing? No! Brown & Sharpe? No! Delta? No!

The hardware stores don't bother me as much. Home depot invests quite a bit of money for knowledgeable staff on certain topics. I've seen them hire contractors and pay them well enough to keep them around as "consultants"
