Should Children be Allowed to Buy e-Liquids that contain Nicotine?

Should there be an Age Limit to Buy e-Liquids that contain Nicotine?

  • I believe you should be an Adult (18 Years or Older) to Buy e-Liquids that contain Nicotine.

  • I believe Anyone at Any Age should be able to Buy e-Liquids that contain Nicotine.

I received some Flak from a Few Members in another thread when I Posted that I am in Favor of Not Selling e-liquids that contain Nicotine to Children or Minors.

So I am Curious if Other Members think there should be an Age Limit to buy e-liquids that contain Nicotine?

Or if Anyone should be able to Buy e-liquids that contain Nicotine at Any Age?

This should be a no brainer. That you must be 18 and over to purchase. However, my daughters friend who smokes a lot, wants to vape. In this case yes, I would rather see kids that already smoke beable to purchase a kit etc. However kids that have never smoked should just stay clear and having the law 18 and old is a good law as they may never bother with it and that is great. So I can't answer this poll as I am being pulled as to what to choose.

Would a Viable Solution be if the Parents of your Daughters Friend bought an e-Cigarette / e-Liquids for Him/Her?

That way Kids are still not allowed to Buy e-Liquids/ e-Liquids, but you Daughter's Friend who Smokes can use an e-Cigarette.

Can children buy caffeine? Yup. Considering this, it would be hard to reason why nicotine would be any worse. I have yet to hear of a child Od'ing on nicotine. I hear about 5-10 kids a year Od'ing and dying from caffeine.

A good companion poll.
Should children be able to buy caffeine? If the voters answers do not match they have been influenced by ANTZ propaganda,

I think age restriction and any/all forms of similar prohibition should be lifted.

As you said kids under 18 still smoke.. vaping would be a better alternative, and its easier for them to get cigs then juice in a lot of situations, that should be changed

People think that without law and restrictions the world would just fall apart... infants would be smoking and MY GOD IT WOULD BE ANARCHY AND CHAOS

I disagree entirely. Raise your kid that smoking is bad... they'll stear clear regardless. If they dont you need to look at what youre doing as a parent, not ways that the government can babysit your kid because you were unwilling to take the time to do it yourself

I agree that you should watch your kid, not the government, but at 16, I made a lot of bad decisions, just like pretty much everyone else. As a teenager, we think we're mature enough to make our own decisions in life, when in reality, we know nothing about life. I started dipping when I was 17, and started drinking "casually" around the age of 13. Growing up, I always saw my dad's dip in the tool box, and looking back, I could smell it on his breath. I had been offered dip from friends in the past, and always said no. When I dual enrolled at the community college in automotive class, a lot of kids dipped, so I took it up, not out of peer pressure, but just out of what I thought of as stress in life. It wasn't until I was 18 that I started really using tobacco, and that was cigars and B&M's, and cigarettes weren't really my thing until I met my fiance. Now I vape. That being said, I also mentioned I have been drinking since 13. My families thought was, "if we introduce them to alcohol while they are curious about it, maybe they won't rebel and head towards it." So, my dad always home brewed, and we were allowed to have one Smirnoff Ice during family gatherings. When I was in high school, I was in a college city, and would occasionally drink frat boys under the table cause I had built up a tolerance over years, and got black out drunk at a couple parties. Now, I enjoy my Scotch, whiskey, cognac and beer. I drank the cheap stuff in excess in high school and college, so I enjoy the quality stuff now. Cause I was able to make an informed decision, I made the healthier one and chose recreational over alcoholism, and I have done the same with vaping. I don't vape all day, every day. Sometimes only once a week. But, I enjoy my vape time, and it helps me deal with stress, as well as helps me sleep (get a good buzz going, and I can be out for a nice nap), without the grimey feeling of tobacco.

TL;DR, teenagers don't understand a right decision, therefore they should be educated, but still not be allowed to purchase until they reach adulthood.

Just to be Very Clear.

The Poll Question has NOTHING to do with Minors/Kids using e-Liquids that contain Nicotine.

Only Whether or Not there should be an 18 Years or Older Age Limit to Buy e-Liquids that Contain Nicotine.

Nothing wrong with Discussing/Debating the Merits of if Kids/Minors should use e-Liquids that contain Nicotine in this thread. But the Poll ONLY deals with the Question of Buying e-Liquids that contain Nicotine.

That doesn't generally work though because when it comes to things like smoking, children are a product of their peers and will rebel against their parents.

You do see a lot less kids smoking these days and I don't believe it has anything to do with parents and more to do with how socially unacceptable smoking is today. Back when I was 13 even, everybody smoked. And while the sale to minors was illegal, it wasn't enforced as much and virtually any store you walked into would sell to a minor. If cigarettes weren't so easy to buy, 25 years ago and smoking wasn't so acceptable, I probably never would have smoked. Because when I was as young as 13, the only people I was hiding my cigarettes from were my parents.

But on another note, my views are a bit different with vaping. I mean the only real known harm here is nicotine addiction. While society seems to have a problem with that, it's perfectly acceptable for them to buy addicting and completely unhealthy fast food, sugary soda and Energy Drinks that contain all kinds of crap.

So if I caught my 13 year old vaping, I would be much more accepting then if I caught him with cigarettes. The main thing I find wrong with minors using these is how bad it makes this industry look. People are already looking for any excuse they can find to either ban or severely regulate these. If we have a lot of minors using these, it will get even worse.

I started vaping when I was about 15-16. It would have been much better if I could have always gotten my hands on ejuice, instead of bumming cigarettes off of people all the time.

18 is about an arbitrary number as you could get, considering even at that age the human brain is not fully developed. I believe it should be up to store policy.

Although that's just a pipe dream, I'm just trying to help fight vaping from getting even more restricted :/

Just Curious.

Why did you Start vaping?

At the time I was smoking cigarettes, had never heard of vaping. Saw in a youtube video someone reviewing a really cheap nicotine free e-hookah pen and thought it looked interesting. Picked one up and tried it, really liked the taste but wasn't going to drop any more cash on them. A while later an online friend started discussing his business selling starter kits in bars and stuff in another country. That caught my interest, so I ordered an ego ce4 and some juice from his website. Online as I looked into the burnt taste, and gargling noises, and other issues associated with starter kits I started to learn a bit more about it. How its a much healthier option, some tips, etc.

At points I wasn't able to buy juice because of my age/no one available to get it for me. Or my parents would take my vape, etc. Had me back smoking mostly cigarettes until I turned 18 and could buy my own juice. Was able to transition easily.

Although, I don't share my story much because I don't want to help spread the idea that vaping is attractive to children because of it being flavored.
