I have been an active member here for well over 4 years but it is time for me to take a break. It seems like more and more threads just upset me. We all seemed to be in this together when I first joined but over the past year it all seemed to have changed. I am seeing to many post made by to many folks that have been convinced that vaping is no better than smoking.

There are just to many here now that believe that we should refrain from vaping if smoking isn't allowed--even outdoors. Those that believe we are being rude if we even allow anyone to see us vape. Those that believe we should just go hide in a corner and be ashamed of this life saving journey we have taken. As far as I am concerned the ANTZ have just about won the battle and I am just plain tired of it. I will continue to vape but can no longer put myself through the stress of what this has become.

I am going to miss a lot of folks that I have met here but enough is enough.

I have seen the change too. Instead of leaving us, why don't you stay on the porches, for awhile, where your vaping family is? :)

And then you go and prove his point!!!! What the heck is wrong with you?

matt, I'll miss reading some of the good input you have here. I feel your pain as I have noticed this trend over the year or so I've been a "SUPPORTING" member as well. Not sure how long I can continue to Support this, even though I will admit I learn here everyday. Some people just make it more difficult than it has to be.

I completely understand, and yes I see it too. Before people get too snarky, it's not the every day people that have been on here helping for years, it's the general idea that regardless of the scientific facts to date, "we just don't know" and so maybe we should all go hide in dark corners.

@mattiem if you do go, you will be missed. Hopefully you just take a break to recharge and keeping on fighting.

The only thing that kept me from giving a like and big thumbs up to your post is the part about leaving!

I just finished posting in another thread in response to the "hide in the closet to vape" mentality, so I got where you are coming from. How about a trial vacation before making a commitment?

Thanks everyone. I have loved it here and have met lots of very good, kind caring folks. I have been checking in once or twice a week lately and it just ends up making me sad to see where this is going. I am not closing my account yet but I know there is no way I can be as active as I used to be.

Hi Matt - I'm very new here compared to your tenure for sure. Thus, I don't have the background to comment on your overall response. Just offering my POV for the quoted comment.

It's our decision to smoke or vape. There is an unknown factor to the output of these substances. People should have a right to not have to breathe second hand anything that they don't want to (I know, we argue then don't step outside because air is polluted, etc... - but this is inherently different because there is a choice). Yes smoking and vaping are different - but the spirit is still very similar...

I personally wouldn't vape anywhere smoking would be considered rude, wrong, illegal. But I can respect others point of view as well on the topic.

If you let them win, they win. Fight the good fight, never submit. Political correctness has just about run its course.

HERE, HERE!!! What VHRB2014 said!!! I just got here and you were one of the first to welcome me. I would hate to see you leave, ESPECIALLY for this reason! Obviously, I haven't been here long enough to have experienced what you're referencing but I do get a sense of how you feel.

What are the "Negative Nellies" doing here anyway??? Don't "you guys" run them out of town on a rail?!:admin: :admin: That kind of talk / attitude should be banished to the corn field!!!

I'm sorry (NOT), this is an e-cig / vaping forum. If you're not IN to this then get OUT! I've had it with the over the top P.C. {Moderated} too but I'm shocked to hear of it here! As noted in my intro, vaping has broken the bonds of tobacco addiction of both my wife and myself after 40 plus years! TWO MORE LIVES SAVED!!! The P.C. - "negative nellies" problems run MUCH DEEPER than what is P.C.!!! They not only want to define what is right & wrong (according to them) they want to FORCE their PERCEPTION of what is right & wrong on EVERYBODY. DON'T let that happen!!!

My apologies for the rant. I just HATE to see this kind of thing drive away good people that are here for the RIGHT reasons (IMO, yes that's right, as far as I know this is still America and I'm allowed TOO!!!). The bottom line is, I was told a couple of weeks ago (when I was on a similar rant re: "Vaping" & the P.C. crowd) that, "There simply aren't "enough of you" to out vote the P.C. crowd." (in almost a "ha, ha" manner) We, as "Vapers" DO NEED every able bodied person we can muster to "fight the good fight"!!! Stick around & stay involved. Don't let "them" diminish our numbers from within. (Please.)

STAND UP!!!

Northern NJ native , Coastal NC now.
If you allow yourself to get mentally stressed over " small stuff" which is what that nonsense is imo then getting away for awhile is probably a good idea.

I try not to sweat the small stuff in life just like the best selling book says , you have to learn to disengage from things that bother you but it is much more difficult for some more so than others.

That "how safe is vaping" thread got to be so over the top ridiculous i just decided to jump ship and move on , ( i was however, close to blowing my head off with a heavy caliber firearm) but decided to jump ship instead.

Anyways i wish you well and hope to see you come back at some point.

Sorry, but I just can't allow this.
And don't bother arguing, my mind is made up.

But if you ignore my wishes...
Then I sincerely wish you all the best mattiem.

Chances are you'll be back.
They always come back.

Except when they don't.

You should not allow a few bad apples to spoil the good thing that I consider ECF to be. At least in my opinion. I can probably guess you tried the old saying just ignore them? I know it does not always work and as the site grows so does the ranks of the ID-10-T's and that is a part of all aspects of life in general.

Good luck and happy vaping! :2c:

I understand the battle scars as I have many of my own from other skirmish's in life.

I've learned that not every "confrontation" is worth fighting over and that many are, in fact, designed for me to lose from the onset. I've learned (and am still learning) to simply walk away from those and in doing so, I win. Or at the very least they don't win.

There are other confrontations that in walking away, they win. For those, the cost of losing is too high so I fight for the win. I may not get it, but I fight for it.

As to which is which, only you can decide.

I wish you well.

Perhaps the most distressing thing for me over the last few years has been how we have been pushed into a corner. Many people I know took up vaping because they could vape in areas where they could not smoke...work, bars, hotels, etc. As the right to vape was taken away, many of those people went back to smoking. That is a real shame...almost a crime.

I know many think that we should be as discreet as possible so that we don't lose our right to vape. Others believe that we should be more public and get more folks educated and accustomed to it.

I honestly don't know which approach is best, but whatever we have been doing isn't working.
