At 2:28 the reporter stated ... "the associate minister of health has indicated she is open to revisiting some of the language in the bill, but nothing definitive has been promised."

That sounds like a glimmer of hope for the shops. Perhaps it's an indication that the bill might be tweaked to allow vaping *in* a vape shop. Maybe.

Can you report how it is seeing by general public?

Population of Ontario as of Jan. 2014: 13.6 million
Number of protesters who showed up with signs: approx 300

Probably not on the radar of most of the populace.

I think they will allow vaping inside vape shops though.

'"...and preventing vape shops on demonstrating how to use the devices..."

If the article got that fact right, then Ontario got it all a**backwards. If someone blows his/her face away, they've got the perfect excuses:
'Ididn't know, I wasn't told'...

In another thread, we're discussing regulation....

Good regulation would be: Customer walks in, customer gets carded. Customer buys something. Customer gets a demonstration on to how to use/re-fill/re-wick/etc. whatever s/he bought. Regardless of whether it's a simple disposable or a super-duper high-end atty with more parts than a jet engine... Customer signs a paper that instruction/demonstration/information about associated risks was received and understood.

It will not prevent some peeps from tinkering with it and it will not prevent a very few peeps from involuntarily rearranging their facial features. But it will prevent them from trying to blame someonee else for their own stupidity.

Reminds me of these little decals on the back of many electrical items 'No user-serviceable parts inside. Removal of back panel will void warranty and can cause injuries/death'

Clear message. Clear consequences.

The smart ones even put some fancy colored glue on the screws holding the back panel in place :)

Heck, if I plan on spending money on somethinge more complicated than toaster, I EXPECT the salesperson to be knowledgeable about it and show me how to use it.

Hey Victor; thanks for posting the Sun article. I'm glad it refers to a situation where the vendor demonstrates the operation of the device to the customer. That might help shop owners in their situation. Personally, I've stocked up on all my DIY supplies and my Fasttech orders are coming in fast and furious so I'm good for a few years.
I don't trust our governments past or present. It's 'follow the money' and BP and BT will be the only regulated suppliers in our future, just look at our LCBO. I hope I'm wrong.
Sofarsogood has started a thread;
Fairly important positive development for a change
Here we see BAT as the supplier for a smoke cessation tool in the UK.
Is this the beginning of regulations and restrictions for all of use?

Same DIY-er here, stocked with goodies for years to come. New law will impact those that are still smoking or new to vaping. Smokers are still asking me "what is THAT?" and it's not somewhere in remote rural area but right here, in the financial district.

Yeah, that article shows the problems caused by the restrictions on help from vape shops, citing examples. It seems to be a big part of the message from the protesters, and it sounds like the message is getting through.

Nice job, protesters and organizers!

On this, there is no such thing as 'good regulation'.

One aspect of Bill 45 that hasn't been discussed much is the inability to display anything in a vape store. No mods, tanks, coils, accessories or juice on display.

This alone will kill most B&M vape stores.

I don't really care about taxation it is is inevitable. Really just a matter of how much. Not being able to display anything coupled with the possibility of being prevented to show customers how to use or troubleshoot a device they bought is stupidity IMO.

My son was about to open a B&M and I am making him hold off until we know exactly what the bill will look like when passed.

What can be the possible Rational for Not Allowing a Vape Shop to Display Hardware inside the store?

I agree. It's in the proposed Bill though and will likely be put into law.

In Ontario, cigarettes cannot be displayed at retailers and they are on shelves completely covered by hinged doors. Going after the same thing here with juice but also hardware. Idiotic IMO.

If these Restriction you mentioned for Displaying e-Cigarettes was Applied to Stores where Children and Minors are present, I could see some of it.

But if a Vape Store only allows Adults to Enter, what is the Problem?
