USA vs China Kanthal

I just purchased and received some USA-made Kanthal A1 from kidneypuncher.com (Rip Tripper's favorite).
I was using some Kanthal from my B&M vape shop that I know must be Chinese (has that font all chinese stuff uses & cheap packaging).

When I put the new USA Kanthal in my Plume Veil the flavor just popped...I was surprised how much better tasting it was.

So, what's the deal here? The chinese cutting corners, or is this some kind of fake Kanthal?

If it is Real Kanthal, there is no difference:

Supply/retail Companies Sell Kanthal, not make it.

Maybe what you had was NiChrome wire.

i got a small amount of wire from FT just to check it out, i wasnt very impressed, its not to bad when youve washed the oil off but its still not as good as real kanthal, plus i tried to straighten some out and even twist some up and it just breaks, very brittle stuff, was the thickest stuff they sell that i got

So why do 2 kanthals taste totally different?

differant metals or ratios of metals, i know i will only be sticking to A1 Kanthal in my pipes from now, im not risking not knowing what my vape wire is

You may have gotten Kanthal(maybe) But NOT A1 and I would not have looked twice at the wire you linked. it looks hand spooled from who knows what.

No kidding! I dont want to take chances with Chinese QC and it possibly screwing up my lungs or god knows what else!

I'd like to know WHO manufactures the China wire, though, if anyone knows...

While I like to get the best, I try to find the best deal on it.


Remember also - a change in performance can be as simple as a slight change in coil height. Don't ask how I know - LOL.

I've been using lightning vapes' kanthal, which is apparently Chinese kanthal. Haven't noticed any difference in performance tbh
