This is exactly how I was doing my micros in the KFL, but obviously with less stellar results.

Hey, I thought that whistling was normal! Not everybody's KFL whistles?????

I'm using a .7 ohm micro right now on my DID. :) A 1.3 ohm micro just doesn't trip my trigger...I crave the crazy vapor + flavor that comes when you get down around .8-.7 ohms. 20-25 watts is my sweet spot for sure.

Well, besides too much wick and you need to trim your leads and I can't see under the coil....should work. :)

Yup, that's the concept. Check out Vapdivr's great vids too: vapdivrr - YouTube

It's a really good idea to have a way to check your coils before you fire 'em when you're rebuilding (you don't want to be firing a shorted coil, especially on a mech)....so, yes it is a needed item if you don't have a multimeter or a VV device that can check resistance.

Got mine here: Cartomizer and Atomizer Ohm Meter Quick! It's actually in stock!!

Well, I would vape a 2.0 ohm coil anywhere from 4.5 - 5 volts, so... Yeah, I like the higher wattages. :)

BTW, I have gone over 1 ohm on the KFL (as high as 1.7 even) on my mechs and gotten similar "it's not feeding right" results....maybe I just chain-vape too much. :)

Thanks again to Bronze for all the work he's putting into my KFL! Bronze: at what voltage are you vaping that 2.0 ohm coil that's "working fine" on your Provari? A couple salient points - The coil I sent him was a rather sloppy, free-hand-wrapped-over-folded-silica coil. I usually do micros...

When I get this "after-sizzle", it's a sure sign that the wick is getting dry and my next hit will not be pleasant.

Will do....it's not the greatest coil, but it works when it gets juice. :) I've haven't had store bought juice in my house for over 2 years, so.....nope. No NETs, but my ADV (DK TAB) has a high sugar content and does gunk up coils pretty fast....however, that has nothing to do with my issue...

Trade didn't happen....but I did try a silica bow-tie setup in the KFL last night just to give it one more go. From previous experience, this setup works the best for me although I would prefer to use micro/cotton builds of course. It was working pretty good for a bit, then dry hits again. It...

None taken. :) Nope, I don't have any measuring equipment like that...maybe my engineering department at work does, I'll check.

Really? I've been vaping going on 4 years now. Been rebuilding for most of that time. I think I know what I'm doing. I really do think that there are manufacturing issues between units...what else could explain the folks having so many problems? Thanks again Bronze! Tried to reply to your PM...

Well, I've tried silica ("Butterfly" and just laying on top of the channels, just touching channels), micro-coil with cotton at about 10 different lengths of cotton wick. Gonna try leaving the chimney unthreaded a bit (but won't the o-ring just grab it and tighten it when I put the top cap back...

I seriously don't get it - I've tried just about every wick configuration I can and the KFL just won't wick consistently for me. I get dry hits all the time...2 or 3 good hits in a row, than BLECH! The only thing I can think of is that mine isn't machined correctly. I wish I had a second KFL to...
