Older Folks and Vaping Front Porch - Part Three

I would love to teach a 1 credit-hour course for the Health and Fitness department on vaping, but given the way things are going politically, I think I'd have a lot of trouble trying to convince a department chair to let me teach it. We do have some faculty who vape, but I doubt we have many...

The women who hired me are both temporary, but are not probationary. They're both administrators, and only faculty have to go through that particular hoop. It's all part of the tenure process. Historically, faculty get tenured so that they have the academic freedom to pursue unpopular research...

I'm late to the party (it's been a busy week), but Harbor Freight is fine for consumables like drill bits, diamond burrs, sand paper, and so on, and they're also good for non-power tools, but the general opinion seems to be to stay away from anything containing a motor. On the other hand, they...

Yes, I did that. But, I used a small drill press rather than a Dremel. That way, the bit was stationary, and I just pressed the channel up against the bit to deepen it. If I tried to hold a Dremel steady, it probably would have jumped all over the place. Your mileage may vary, I've never had...

Mayfield Heights, a suburb of Cleveland. I had relatives in Shaker Heights, and then one of them moved to Parma. What part were you in?

I wasn't around for the 50's, but I guess we were backward in Ohio, because we were still doing the whole "no backsies" thing long until the late 60's or so. Though, we always saved "you're rubber and I'm glue" as the ultimate retort for use only in response to the direst of insults.

You would have missed me anyway, I was just in for a minute while waiting for a meeting. Had my final interviews today, and I think they went well. I guess we'll find out soon enough, since they're making the final decisions over the next few weeks. What a long strange process they have here. If...

We only get one week for Spring break, and I'll have to spend all of that getting ready for next term (plus interviews, meetings, etc.). The funny thing about teaching is that you can get it done really quickly if you're willing to do a crappy job at it, but actually doing it well takes a...

Still grading, but I have to get everything finished and file the final grades this weekend. Then, next week is a little lighter (ha), and by the end of the month/beginning of next month, I'll find out if I got hired for a permanent full-time position or not (I made it to the final round and...

Yes, flavor is the most expensive part in my juices (partly because I use a high percentage of flavor, and partly just because). But, those 4oz flavors at TFA are pretty reasonable, and I just ordered 7 more - Brown Sugar, Butterscotch, Cinnamon Danish, Marshmallow, Pear, Pineapple, and...

The wicking, chamber, and airflow will all affect how hot the coil gets as well. So, it's easy to believe that a coil in one device would get hot enough to sizzle the juice for a few seconds after the power is cut while the exact same coil in a different device doesn't.

Older Folks and Vaping Front Porch - Part Three

It does, but not enough that you can see. When you dry burn a coil, it gets yellow or red hot, but it doesn't noticeably get bigger. It doesn't even get that hot when there's a wet wick to draw away the heat and to vaporize the juice. However, I suspect that the expansion does have an affect on...

Older Folks and Vaping Front Porch - Part Three

It didn't :) I was giving a hypothetical example :) I use mech mods, so 4 wraps of 26 gauge at 3mm in a dual coil build is about all I can use for 0.3Ohms, and yes, there is some sizzling after I let go of the power button (so I time my draws as I described in the post). But, I can imagine if...
