I had intended to add this to my old thread http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...96-istick-porn-plus-personal-impressions.html ,but I discovered it had been closed, so I've created a new one for the 30w.
I've had my two 20w Isticks for almost 4 months now and they still look and function like new. No issues whatsoever.
I picked up the 30w about a week ago as I plan to get a larger capacity tank which will blend well with the new flared top cap, plus I want to get the new Eleaf Melo when it becomes available here in Ontario. Where I got the 30w I also bought the Beyond Vapes Silo Lite; I'll later gives some thoughts on that as well.
After using the 30w mostly with the Silo and occasionally with the Naughty Mini, it has performed flawlessly with both tanks. I had heard about the button rattle but wasn't much concerned. After all, the buttons rattle at varying amounts on most of my mods and ego batts which never really bothered me, so I figured it would be pretty much the same. Well I wasn't prepared for the kind of rattle on the 30w. I mean this thing is feckin' baby rattle!
I've since reduced the rattle quite a bit by placing a single drop of thin viscosity non-conductive oil at the edge of each button. It then seeped in and damped the contact surfaces and dulled the rattle. It also tends to make the buttons a bit lighter to press.
As everyone else has noted, Eleaf have fixed the major issues known in the 20w. Aside from the bump up in power, the threads are stainless steel and the center pin is spring loaded. To blend the Istick with larger tanks (22 - 23mm), I actually think Eleaf did a very creative job designing the new top-cap. Redesigning only the top-cap allowed the tooling for the rest of the case to remain the same, which minimized additional cost, but it also allowed more room in the cap to add the sprung pin. I say kudos to whoever thought that up.
Eleaf also seem to have brought the displayed power and output more in line with other regulated devices; in my experience, I now have to run the displayed volts on the 30w about 1 volt higher than the 20w to get the same cook of my juice. The output of the 20w never bothered me but it's still nice to have consistency with the majority of other devices.
Also new for the 30w is the ability to lock the up/down buttons by pressing them at the same time. Unexpected was the ability to flip the display by pressing both up/down buttons while the devise is powered off.
Ok enough of my rambling - here's a bit of Istick 30w Porn:
About that Beyond Vapes Silo Lite; I had originally hoped to get the regular size Silo but its just too tall. I don't like big mods or overly large tanks that add a lot of height to the combined setup. Unlike the larger Silo which takes the Nautilus BVC coils, the Silo Lite takes the regular BVC coils. Comes with 2 drip tips, both are shorties, one wide bore and the other tight, and 2 coils.
I think it looks made for this Kanger Evod 1600 VV;
I've never tried a tank that takes the regular BVC's but I was very pleasantly surprised after vaping the Lite. I have 3 Naughty Minis and I've always had great performance and a very satisfying vape; well satisfying for the most part. I mix 4 different flavours at different but precise measures to create my preferred juice. The result is a rather light blend of tobacco flavours that are similar to a mild and slightly sweet tiparillo and aromatic pipe tobacco. Its a delicate flavour that easily allows the taste of whatever atomizer or wicking to come through. I always find a new Nautilus BVC to have a machine oil or metallic taste for the first 1 - 2 hours of vaping; then it starts to let the proper flavour of the juice come through nicely.
The BVC in the Lite tasted just right very shortly into vaping, and when settled in, it actually allowed the various flavour to come through better that the Nautilus BVC's. I'm still on my first coil in the Lite so we'll see after a few more coils.
The airflow is not adjustable but the 2 holes in the base are quite open; I'm guessing almost as open as the Naughty Mini wide open. I'm not a lung hitter but it seems me you might be able to with the Lite, or maybe with a bit of slip-streaming.
So I find the flavour and vaper from the Silo Lite about the best I've had from a clearomizer, and perhaps the thing I like most about it is its no bigger than a Naughty Mini and yet it hold 3.5ml opposed to 2 in the Mini and even slightly less if you're using the 'T' tank or Lace tank on the Mini.
And... it seems very well made but is about half the price of the Naughty.
I'll give an update when I get the Eleaf Melo.
Thanks for reading.
