I asked froggy to find me a piece that isn't stabilized yet so it can be dyed and stabilized. I'm after purple next time.

If you are not careful, you will make people really happy. Are you sure you are fully prepared for the consequences that would ensue?

Not prepared, I'm sure; but it would sure would make my day if yours were to meet with your approval.

lack of eyelids is a lot of what keeps bees out of the acting business.

that's a sad bee.
a sleeping bee would have a series of little Zs over its head ( .. . . . . duh)

I don't like to see a sad bee.

had a bit of interference this weekend; but I kept plugging away at it whenever I could. Caps are a long way there (i.e. finished, smoothed, consequently final thickness determined, mag hole boring is in progress). I should hope to have the balance of the machining done on the caps tomorrow and start shaping bodies tomorrow eve or Tues a.m. Will try to snap a few snippets in the next day or two, and then I'll have pics of 1st coat rough mods later in the week.

#5879 is the best of the bunch (IMHO . . . yo?), mainly in that the figure wraps around the edges too. Many of the others don't feature the "pomelle" pattern on the edges. So, by the time I shape it into an ellipsoid, a lot of the figure will "fade" as it approaches the nose and spine of the mod. If anyone's looking at that Pomelle Bubinga . . . . that'd be the one I'd pick. Generally speaking, I've found the Bubinga to be very good material for a mod, structurally.

I made one mod from the Waterfall Bubinga that Arnold has here (there's more of that still too). Was very happy with the results. Mind you, the Waterfall doesn't have the intricate figure that this pomelle does. The large wavy patterns in the Waterfall get lost to the wee-ness of the mod. Nonetheless, here's that example.
