my point was that the main mass of the body pro'ly wasn't the purdy veneer (or cap, or whatever thickness).
I made myself an electric bass body with Purpleheart. That thing is a frickin' black hole of heaviness.
Maple too, heavy stuff. Wears on a guy over an hour or two of playing.

Morning from NY gang. Sorry it’s been a long time since I popped in but have been up to my neck with the house move. Three weeks of utter hell, never thought I had accumulated so much crap. Anyhow we’re in the new place now and slowly settling in, just a case of learning where everything is.

Moving is awful !
We had lived in our California house for 18 years.
I sold a ton of stuff as we were going for less square footage here...got tired of being the vacation spot for everyone.
Holymoly...I still have too much stuff - and a lot is still in the garage packed. (since2003)
I have a ton of crystal.

My wife and I bought the place we're in (in PA) in 1988, so it has 30 years worth of accumulated sh^htuff.

I have a plan though. When I retire, we'll give this place to the kids and just go live somewhere else. That way it becomes their problem.
