we're at 21 years here; and/but no intention of moving (always thought we'd stay here since the day we bought).

however, (hopefully) this summer, we're going to cleanse the basement of all junk and try to turn it into a cool (temperature) hangout space for summer living. "hopefully" because there's still more exterior paint work to do (the old-work sides of the house), upstairs bath plumbing to address, etc.

My wife and I bought the place we're in (in PA) in 1988, so it has 30 years worth of accumulated sh^htuff.

I have a plan though. When I retire, we'll give this place to the kids and just go live somewhere else. That way it becomes their problem. :w00t:
The place we moved to is rented Uwe (thankfully the airline pays for it), I wouldn't buy a place in the Middle East since I don't intend to retire here. We bought a place in Port St. Lucie, FL and when I'm done busing folks around the world we'll move there and I'll fish and play golf till I kick the bucket or I run out of golf balls and bait :)

did you get to keep your tools? .. . . are you getting a shop space? .. .or was that a done/losing deal when you first posted about it?
I'll let ya take a wild guess as to who won that battle, me or the wife

Morning from NY gang. Sorry it’s been a long time since I popped in but have been up to my neck with the house move. Three weeks of utter hell, never thought I had accumulated so much crap. Anyhow we’re in the new place now and slowly settling in, just a case of learning where everything is.

How’s everyone, missed you guys.
Missed you too sweetie! Glad you made it through in one piece. LOL

Tami why does that sound so much like something my wife would say???

Miss you too girl. How's the house movin' along?
Coming right along. About 40% of the floors are done and we've got the kitchen almost done!

One thing that's really intriguing to me, as a person who thinks about how to make stuff (when I'm aiming to make some particular stuff), is the fundamental difference in spacial relations (type imagining) between this leather work and the woodworking.

Simply put (and, really, over-simplifying it to exclusion of many exceptions):
woodworking is about reducing a form, a geometric solid, to create the intended surface,
and leather work is about manipulating a surface to yield a form.

some of the shapes I cut of these surfaces are about as attractive as a pool of octopus vomit before they are bent and twisted into something that (I personally think) is quite lovely.

Here's some cow submission . .. (not lovely yet!)
