I have a few of those prickly pear cactuses growning on the back side of our dune; they all started out as small pieces that we rescued from an overgrown, empty lot that was getting cleared. I thought they were only good for the flowers they get in the spring. I had no idea those fruits were edible. But we saw turn red, and I said, "I wonder". So checked interwebs, and guess what? Yes, they are!

Oh, and we adopted this little guy on our way north:
He was found all by himself about a month ago in a highly industrial area, but the folks who found him, well,, The wife doesn't like cats, so he needed a different home.
