my druthers:

22g = 3/32"
24g = 2mm
26g = 1.8mm
28g = 1.6mm (1/16")

this is basically smallest ID w/ sufficient wicking for cotton & my toot-style (LH). Smallest ID = fastest heat-up.

not sure what I'm going to do for the 23g that's arriving tomorrow. There isn't a drill bit in my shop that lands between 2mm (~5/64") & 3/32" (~2.4mm).
Get you a #43 or 44 wite gauge bit:)

Like the angle you're working P...( has me thinking dual one strand verts)

Something like this only with contact in the middle and the proper bend to drop in the holes...

Oh scandalous one, where you been? Is that you in your avatar?

(OG returns!)
Yep yep..... That's me....[HASHTAG]#LikeABoss[/HASHTAG]!!!! :thumb:

I'm still not back here 100%.... yet. ;)

G*d had to be placed in a mental hospital & I lost nearsightedness in one eye & the other was quickly on it's way out so had no other choice than to have laser (PRK) surgery to correct my vision.

I've been legally blind with glasses for years that it's weird to me not wearing them anymore.
I'm also happy to ditch the dark spiderman glasses they had me wearing.

Recovery for this surgery is 6 mos & my vision is supposed to keep getting better each day.

As for my g*d.... She's got a long road ahead of her & currently it's too soon to say whether or not she's making any progress. For now she's not threatening to kill me..... That might change after lunchtime tho. :blink:

With so much going on I got to the point that I needed to find a hole & hide in it.

WOW, sounds like you've had quite an adventure. Good to see you again. Speedy recovery. Stop by and see us now and then. :lol:

I had regular lasik surgery about a year ago. Both my parents have had their eye lenses replaced. Dad was legally blind and it's still weird to see him without glasses. Mom lost that old age color perception. Thankfully eye's heal quickly in the first stages. It's nice to wear Ray-Bans now when I'm outside instead of prescription photo-gray.

More on topic - For the last month I've really been enjoying turbocad's center parallel coil nuppin' build. 26g regular Kanthal 3/32 ID 5 wrap, twisted leads ~.5Ω. It's brilliant - really quite good. Thanks turbo!

You might have to help me with that one when I come up puppy, if you don't mind.

One thing that really helps is a good drip tip. The wide bore wood drip tip from drunk_J works really good with this application. A regular metal tip will get hot real quick. Also consider tehere's almost no room between the coil and the bottom of the tip. Before getting my new tips I was ready to sand some off the bottom to increase the gap between the drip tip and the coil. One of my glass tips worked pretty good but literally touched the coil at times.

Welcome back - sounds like a lot on your plate... but the blessing is, you're gonna have amazing vision - plus you can bat those pretty eyes at everyone and now they'll see 'em ;)

Well now, I didn't get as much work done as I wanted to in the last two days. Some, but not the chock-full-o'-work days I'd planned on. Still, almost done with shaping; just the final 320 grit kiss left on that. I'll fold the caps into the shapey-pie tomorrow and maybe even start in on magnets. Meanwhile, I had a nice long chat with the local P.O. manager

, turned B's emergency repair around and back in the air

, and have one, proper, regulation style piano all up in the hizzy for the furthering of my daughter's musical educatement and practications
